To Meet and Satisfy a Very Hungry People by Timothy B Walsh Pdf

A scholarly examination of the emergence of English Pentecostalism at the beginning of the twentieth century. This study aims to elucidate the origins of how the Pentecostal message came to England, highlighting reasons for its appeal to an initially small constituency, while tracing its emergence in specific religious localities which ranged from Anglican vestry, to mission hall platform, to domestic drawing room. Its chief purpose is to examine the origins and emergence of a distinctively English version of the Pentecostal phenomenon.

The Man God Shook by Kenneth C. Rowley Pdf

Nothing gives significance and purpose more than developing intimacy with God. That is why this book, The Man God Shook, can be dynamic in your journey. I love reading this brilliantly written book: the honesty of the pastor, the struggles he endured being physically shaken for years, and his coming out the other side in the presence of God. —Kent Parker Oh wow, so many points, I loved it all: Scripture, notes from other pastors, personal stories, step by step to get to certain ideas, so many things touched me. I can’t give just one detail. I like the way it was all joined together!! Amazing. —Judy Treherne I was around when God shook the man! What I remember the most is bringing a man that was addicted on crack cocaine in the front door of the church for deliverance! The “shaking man” laid eyes on him and immediately the Power of God blazed through him and the addict fell and was so plowed by the Holy Ghost that he literally could not stand up! It was sooo powerful and awesome!! He would try to get up and could only crawl on his hands and knees while drunkenly say, “we’re having church and it’s not even Sunday” What a POWERFUL deliverance!! I shall never forget it! That man left, set free from addiction!! —Brenda Reed

Loving Jesus by Lloyd Elcock Pdf

Christians do not love Jesus enough Indeed on a scale of 1 to 10 the average Christian's love for Him scores no more than 2. That is the startling message of Lloyd David Elcock's first volume of a series of scriptural expositions that he proposes to publish under the rubric: "What the gentiles have done to Christianity." The foundation upon which he has built that series includes the following three cornerstones: Biblical Christianity can accurately and justifiably also be called Jewish Christianity. After the control and direction of Biblical/Jewish Christianity was passed from Jewish to Gentile hands at the beginning of the 2nd century AD, the Gentiles comprehensively deformed it, and 1200 years later, partially reformed it. The salvage and recovery of Biblical/Jewish Christianity, begun five hundred years ago by Luther, Calvin and the other Gentile Protestant Reformers, is only fifty percent completed; in particular, a number of the most important doctrines of Biblical/Jewish Christianity are yet to be recovered and their absence from today's Evangelical Church is the principal cause of the endemic and widespread carnality, and stunted spiritual growth that characterize the lives and lifestyle of the overwhelmingly vast majority of born again Christians everywhere in the western world. In this first volume, the author puts forward the view that one of those as yet unretrieved fundamental doctrines is the major key to the Spirit filled life of love, faith and power that is the ultimate goal of both Biblical Christianity and Gentile Evangelical Christianity. That key, he contends, is hidden (in plain view), in the pages of the fourteenth chapter of John's Gospel

Making Good the Claim by Rufus Burrow Jr. Pdf

The Church of God Reformation Movement (founded in 1881) has the distinction of having been founded on the two core principles of holiness and visible unity. Standard histories of the group proudly argue that the founder and pioneers exhibited a zeal for interracial unity that began to wane only in the early years of the twentieth century. This book rejects that claim and argues instead that little to no extant hard evidence supports that view. Moreover, Making Good the Claim argues that while blacks eagerly joined the group, they did so not because whites expended much energy evangelizing among them but because they heard something deeper in the message of holiness and visible unity than God's expectation that members achieve spiritual and church unity. Unlike most whites, blacks interpreted the message to call for unity along racial lines as well. This book challenges members of the Church of God to begin forthwith to make good their historic claim about holiness and visible unity, particularly as it applies to interracial unity.

Divine Healing: The Years of Expansion, 1906–1930 by James Robinson Pdf

In the present volume James Robinson completes his trilogy, which deals with the history of divine healing in the period 1906-1930. The first volume is a study of the years 1830-1890, and was hailed as "a standard reference for years to come." The second book covers the years 1890-1906, and was acclaimed as "a monumental achievement" that combines "careful historical scholarship and a high degree of accessibility." This volume completes the study up to the early 1930s and, like the other two works, has a transatlantic frame of reference. Though the book gives prominence to the theology and practice of divine healing in early Pentecostalism, it also discusses two other models of healing, the therapeutic and sacramental, promoted within sections of British and American Anglicanism. Some otherwise rigorous Fundamentalists were also prepared to practice divine healing. The text contributes more widely to medical and sociocultural histories, exemplified in the rise of psychotherapy and the cultural shift referred to as the Jazz Age of the 1920s. The book concludes by discussing the major role that divine healing plays in the present rapid growth of global Christianity.
