The Witch and the Baby Princess by David Rich Pdf

Mirabelle is born to Antipathy and Gorgon, the most powerful witch and warlock in the land. All who used magic knew that because of the powers of her parents, the child would one day grow up to become the most fearsome evil witch the kingdom had ever known. In order to save the kingdom from an awful fate, Matilda, Queen of the Fairies, intrudes upon the child's baptismal "cleansing of all that is good." She casts a spell on her, granting her the powers to resist her parents' teachings and determine her own destiny. But Matilda pays the price. The angry witches transform Matilda into an old hag and steal her soul, which Antipathy stores in a locket around her neck. The very same day of Mirabelle's birth, Claudette, a sweet farm girl, was born. The two girls' lives are destined to intersect, as Mirabelle must decide whether to follow the ways of the witches or to carve her own path. The WITCH AND THE BABY PRINCESS is an original prequel to Charles Perrault's classic fairy tale CINDERELLA. It tells the story of how a special child became blessed with her very own Fairy Godmother.

William and the Witch's Riddle by Shutta Crum Pdf

A charming reimagining of Sleeping Beauty that “will appeal to younger middle grade readers who like fantasy, fractured fairy tales, and adventure” (School Library Journal)! William and his little brother, Pinch, have been left alone at their home atop the mountain. When a witch named Morga shows up, William is forced to embark on a terrifying journey, the worst part of which is Morga herself. She has three riddles for William to solve, with only the help of an odd fellow who wakes up a different size every day and a tiny yellow dragon who can dream storms into reality. Three riddles. Three chances to lift an ancient curse. Three chances to save his family. Part fantasy and part fairy tale, and sprinkled with charming black-and-white illustrations, William and the Witch’s Riddle is a loose retelling of Sleeping Beauty and an adventure that’s just right for middle graders. Praise for Shutta Crum’s Thomas and the Dragon Queen: “Both heartwarming and full of surprises. . . . A must-read.” —School Library Journal, Starred review “The quick pace, thrilling escapes, and subtly detailed medieval setting will all be appealing to early fantasy readers.” —The Bulletin “A sure-fire hit as a read-aloud, this is an engaging book featuring a hero filled with bravery, quick wits, and heart.” —The Horn Book

The Enchanted Alligator by Lupe Marie Acosta Larsen Pdf

The Enchanted Alligator is a book about a royal family that lived in the Land of Royalties and Fairytales. The king and queen desired to have a child. The day came when they had a baby boy. The king and queen were happy to have a baby prince. All the servants were delighted to have such joy in the palace. The Witch of the Air was envious of the queen’s beauty, wealth and of her baby. She put a spell on the baby prince turning him into an alligator. When the alligator grew, he was placed in a large pond decorated with exotic flowers. His mother read to him and trained him to be a prince, hoping that someday the curse would be broken and he would rule the kingdom. The gardener had three daughters that liked to play with the alligator. When the alligator became a teenager he asked one of the girls to marry him, she rejected him. He asked the middle girl and she also rejected him. Eventually he found true love and the curse was broken. His beloved wife Selah called him “Princes Allik.” The witch threatened to put a curse on the queen and on the prince’s child. The gardener decided to use his resources and send the prince, princess Selah and their four year old daughter Zion into space in special suits. They landed on different planets, stars and constellations. Along the way they received gifts to share and teach by example in the Land of No Return. (The gifts represent the Beatitudes Mathew 5:3-11) Because they shared their gifts with the people of that land, they were able to go to the Land of Wonders. They returned to Fairyland with the found book of books that combats and defeats all evil.

The New Yam Festival by Deborah Mboya Pdf

There is a proverb in Iboland that says, "When the harvest season ends, it is the time of the year when everybody is at home." The Yam Festival has come to an end, and The New Yam Festival has begun. It is an extraordinary celebration of the harvest season, the culture, and oral traditions of the people who live in the village of Uwaoma. It is also an occasion for giving thanks to all the gods of the land for making the harvest possible. Achuwanike was the first yam farmer in his village to win a yam title at The Yam Festival. Now that the harvest season is over, he is in close communion with his family, relatives, neighbors, friends, and the spirits of the ancestors of the past, present, and future for the next harvest season.

The Magic World by Edith Nesbit Pdf

The Magic World (1909) is a collection of twelve children’s fantasy stories by English writer Edith Nesbit. Using elements of magic and mystery familiar to readers of her beloved Bastable and Psammead Trilogies, Nesbit crafts tales of wonder and adventure for children and adults alike. In “The Cat-hood of Maurice,” a young boy learns firsthand the consequences of mistreating the family cat. One day, Maurice attaches an empty sardine can to Lord Hugh’s tail, terrifying and traumatizing the poor cat. When his father gets home, Maurice is told that he will be spending the next week at Dr. Strongitharm’s school for wayward boys. At the last moment, Maurice discovers Lord Hugh in his room, who reveals to the boy a magic word that will turn him into a cat. In “Accidental Magic,” a boy named Quentin is sent to school in Salisbury. Immensely interested in archaeology and history, Quentin is excited to learn that he will be able to visit Stonehenge while at school. After getting in a fight with a bully, Quentin runs away in fear of expulsion and escapes through the fields toward Stonehenge. There, he searches for the fabled altar stone, where, exhausted and scared, he falls asleep. When he wakes up, he finds he has been transported to the lost world of Atlantis, where the people call him the “Chosen of the Gods,” but fail to reveal what it is he is chosen for. With a beautifully designed cover and professionally typeset manuscript, this edition of Edith Nesbit’s The Magic World is a classic of English children’s literature reimagined for modern readers.

It provides a model which offers new ways for parents to practise communicating with their children and develop positive relationships. The book focuses on the Theatre of Attachment model - a highly innovative approach which draws from a strong theoretical base to demonstrate the importance of narrative and dramatic play for sharing the children’s life history in the family home with their adoptive, foster or kinship parents. An emphasis is on having fun ways to work through complex feelings and divided loyalties, so as to secure attachment. This practice model aims to raise children’s self-esteem and communication skills and to combat the profound effects of abuse, neglect on trauma on children’s development. THE MAGIC WORLD by E. NESBIT Pdf

Yet it is difficult for an outsider to see these things from the point of view of both the persons concerned. To Maurice, scissors in hand, alive and earnest to snip, it seemed the most natural thing in the world to shorten the stiff whiskers of Lord Hugh Cecil by a generous inch. He did not understand how useful those whiskers were to Lord Hugh, both in sport and in the more serious business of getting a living. Also it amused Maurice to throw Lord Hugh into ponds, though Lord Hugh only once permitted this liberty. To put walnuts on Lord Hugh’s feet and then to watch him walk on ice was, in Maurice’s opinion, as good as a play. Lord Hugh was a very favourite cat, but Maurice was discreet, and Lord Hugh, except under violent suffering, was at that time anyhow, dumb...FROM THE BOOK.
