Cosmic Beginnings by Soyinka I. Ogunbusola Pdf

This genre falls under the category of Sci-fi fantasy thriller a works that is just as exciting as the adventures of Lora Croft in “Tomb Raiders” I chose this genre to create characters that exist outside of the everyday urban-scape theme. One of the main characters is a black woman; a seasoned sea captain for example. I wanted to create another kind of hero, in another part of the world, on another kind of mission based on another mindset; more of a West African theme influenced by the folklore of the ancient Yoruba of Southwestern Nigeria which is deeply submerged in cosmological and celestial influences and is viewed as individual characteristic energies expressing themselves universally in allegorical narratives. These legends tend to be older then Western civilization. I wanted the story to be unique and the characters just as unique. This is a story told by the ancestors of the war in heaven before the creation of man...this a story of the battle of illumination and darkness the fight to maintain balance between good and evil.

Lady of Steel and Straw by Erica Ivy Rodgers Pdf

Star-crossed lovers grapple with forbidden attraction and a growing army of ghostly dead in this swashbuckling YA fantasy debut. After ten years of exile, following regicide in the House of Tristain, an alarming royal edict is delivered to the immortal scarecrow Guardians who once defended the crown: surrender themselves to the church of the Silent Gods, or stand accused of further treason. But with a puppet prince set to take the throne and vengeful wraiths appearing with alarming frequency, something foul and sinister is at work in the kingdom of Niveaux. Lady Charlotte Sand was born to calm the restless dead. A headstrong heroine, she refuses to relinquish her family’s lavender Guardian to the Cardinal’s Watch—a rash misstep that costs her brother his life and sets her on a path for revenge. For pious and handsome Captain Luc de Montaigne, it’s an excruciating predicament. His long-lost, childhood love has triggered a faction war that could tear the realm asunder. Now Charlotte and Luc must choose between killing one another and stepping closer to victory—or yielding to the electricity between them. Heartily inspired by The Three Musketeers, this multiple-perspective narrative features a unique system of bone and herbal magic, sultry banter, and a feisty cast of well-rounded supporting characters. This rousing first entry in the Waking Hearts fantasy duology is a gorgeous read and an excellent pick for fans of Rin Chupeco and Margaret Rogerson.

A Mage Alone by Russell Emmerson Pdf

Mages are born. Mages die. Dust on the wind, their light extinguished. Eili Morgan is a mage with the power to change reality at will. He just doesn’t know it yet. At least, that's what a poster told him late one night after a few drinks. It’s only when building-sized murals start warning him he must discover his power or risk being drained by the shadows following him that he realises the world is very different from the Port he grew up in. If he is a mage, he can’t be the only one, but friends are hard to find. In fact, they’re no better than the ghosts, who think he must pay for the sins of history. If only he had time to figure out who to trust, and whether any of it is real. A Mage Alone is the first book of The Birth of Gods series.

Darkside Sun by Jocelyn Adams Pdf

A new adult romance from Entangled's Embrace imprint... The dead have been waiting for her... Addison Beckett tries hard to pretend she's normal, but she's far from it. Since she was six years old, she's seen the world around her unraveling, as if someone is pulling a thread from a sweater and it's all slowly coming undone. When she ignores it, it goes away, so that's what she does. Enter her arrogant-but-hot professor Asher Green. He knows all about her special brand of crazy. In fact, he might be just as nuts as she is. Asher insists that the dead from a parallel dimension are trying to possess the living in this one. And since Addison seems to be the only one who can see these "wraiths," she just might be the key to saving the world. Addison wants nothing to do with Asher or his secret society, The Mortal Machine. But as their animosity grows, she finds it harder and harder to ignore the chemistry between them. And when she discovers that Machine laws forbid her from touching him, she realizes that's all she wants to do. Stop the wraiths. Break the rules. Save the world. All in a day's work. Normal was overrated, anyway.

David Foster Wallace: Fiction and Form by David Hering Pdf

In David Foster Wallace: Fiction and Form, David Hering analyses the structures of David Foster Wallace's fiction, from his debut The Broom of the System to his final unfinished novel The Pale King. Incorporating extensive analysis of Wallace's drafts, notes and letters, and taking account of the rapidly expanding field of Wallace scholarship, this book argues that the form of Wallace's fiction is always inextricably bound up within an ongoing conflict between the monologic and the dialogic, one strongly connected with Wallace's sense of his own authorial presence and identity in the work. Hering suggests that this conflict occurs at the level of both subject and composition, analysing the importance of a number of provocative structural and critical contexts – ghostliness, institutionality, reflection – to the fiction while describing how this argument is also visible within the development of Wallace's manuscripts, comparing early drafts with published material to offer a career-long framework of the construction of Wallace's fiction. The final chapter offers an unprecedentedly detailed analysis of the troubled, decade-long construction of the work that became The Pale King.
