Three Crows by Aiye-ko ooto Pdf

If you ever felt velvet, strangling grip of darkness, it's suffocating and creepy. This anthology ventures the dark. Dare follow Aiye-Ko-ooto into abyss. In 50 poems; you pry into conspiracy of crows. Taking off into the valley "Surfeit of Grief" - in excessive amount of grief, conspirators found a sandbox, in which to play. They tinge our hearts with enough breath to stay alive but no more. Why listen to them but why not? They wrap fear and shroud hearts in mysteries. Soon, time to leave "Humdrum of Winters"- contemplate veiled heart's lack of excitement. It's dull and prosaic. It appears it won't survive? Wait until the night rides the sleigh into early dawn. Do you "In the Twilight Sleep"? look no further, these poems grip. So you take flight. "Flight from Curse of Witches" - running away from the sufferings invoked. The end, entreats with "Hawk, Hound and Hex" - dwell out there in the dark, be weary of eye gouging hawk, blood trailing hound and hex, mother of all witches! Dare you come for the ride!

Crows by Candace Savage Pdf

A treasure trove of stories, poems, and information on the brainy, black-feathered bird that’s rich in insight and humor. This revised and expanded edition of Candace Savage’s best-selling book about ravens and crows is enhanced by additional paintings, drawings, and photos, as well as a fascinating selection of first-person stories and poems about remarkable encounters with crows. In one story, a pack of crows brilliantly thwarts an attack by a Golden Eagle; in another, a mischievous crow rescues the author from grief. And in a third piece, after nursing a battered baby crow back to health until it flies off with other crows, Louise Erdrich hauntingly describes her altered awareness as she listens for the “dark laugh” of crows while she works. Based on two decades of audacious research by scientists around the world, the book also provides an unprecedented, evidence-based glimpse into corvids’ intellectual, social, and emotional lives. But whether viewed through the lens of science, myth, or everyday experience, the result is always the same. These birds are so smart—and so mysterious—they take your breath away. Published in Partnership with the David Suzuki Institute. Praise for Crows “A beautifully crafted celebration of these birds.” —Nature “A deft juxtaposition of interesting anecdotes and firsthand accounts of scientific discoveries.” —Canadian Literature “Surprising avian revelations are contained within the pages of Savage’s glorious festival of crow arcana.” —Alberta Views

The Twenty Days of Turin: A Novel by Giorgio De Maria Pdf

Named one of NPR's Best Books of 2017 Written during the height of the 1970s Italian domestic terror, a cult novel, with distinct echoes of Lovecraft and Borges, makes its English-language debut. In the spare wing of a church-run sanatorium, some zealous youths create "the Library," a space where lonely citizens can read one another’s personal diaries and connect with like-minded souls in "dialogues across the ether." But when their scribblings devolve into the ugliest confessions of the macabre, the Library’s users learn too late that a malicious force has consumed their privacy and their sanity. As the city of Turin suffers a twenty-day "phenomenon of collective psychosis" culminating in nightly massacres that hundreds of witnesses cannot explain, the Library is shut down and erased from history. That is, until a lonely salaryman decides to investigate these mysterious events, which the citizenry of Turin fear to mention. Inevitably drawn into the city’s occult netherworld, he unearths the stuff of modern nightmares: what’s shared can never be unshared. An allegory inspired by the grisly neo-fascist campaigns of its day, The Twenty Days of Turin has enjoyed a fervent cult following in Italy for forty years. Now, in a fretful new age of "lone-wolf" terrorism fueled by social media, we can find uncanny resonances in Giorgio De Maria’s vision of mass fear: a mute, palpitating dread that seeps into every moment of daily existence. With its stunning anticipation of the Internet—and the apocalyptic repercussions of oversharing—this bleak, prescient story is more disturbingly pertinent than ever. Brilliantly translated into English for the first time by Ramon Glazov, The Twenty Days of Turin establishes De Maria’s place among the literary ranks of Italo Calvino and beside classic horror masters such as Edgar Allan Poe and H. P. Lovecraft. Hauntingly imaginative, with visceral prose that chills to the marrow, the novel is an eerily clairvoyant magnum opus, long overdue but ever timely.

Yesterday’s Reflections by Albert F. Schmid Pdf

In Yesterday’s Reflections, author Albert F. Schmid invites us to consider the various holidays that are celebrated throughout the year. He provides interesting facts about each holiday and includes the religious origins of them where relevant because many of our holidays have a religious connection. He also explains important points about the holidays, such as why Easter is always on a Sunday and why Thanksgiving is always on the fourth Thursday in November. In addition, he includes devotionals on topics ranging from “Contentment” to “God Is Where Love Is.” Each devotional includes the pertinent Scriptures, a story to illustrate the point being made, and Schmid’s comments. For example, “The Rear View Mirror” tells the story of Grace, who remembers her father’s advice for driving in the snow: “find a snow plow and follow it.” When she encounters a blizzard, she does this; an hour later, the driver stops to make certain she is all right, as he had plowed a large parking lot, was moving on to the next business, and was concerned when he noticed that she was following him. We often become comfortable thinking that we can just “follow the snow plow” when in truth we need to learn to trust God and let Him lead the way. Yesterday’s Reflections is an inspiring collection that reminds us that we are Christ’s ambassadors and that God expects each of us to live and act as though He is making His appeal through us. The best sermons are not preached; they are lived.
