Women in Civil War Texas by Deborah M. Liles,Angela Boswell Pdf
Women in Civil War Texas is the first book dedicated to the unique experiences of Texas women during the Civil War. It fills the literary void in Texas women’s history during this time, connects Texas women’s lives to southern women’s history, and shares the diversity of experiences of women in Texas during the Civil War. An introductory essay situates the anthology within both Civil War and Texas women’s history. Contributors explore Texas women and their vocal support for secession and in support of a war, coping with their husbands’ wartime absences, the importance of letter-writing as a means of connecting families, and how pro-Union sentiment caused serious difficulties for women. They also analyze the effects of ethnicity, focusing on African American, German, and Tejana women’s experiences. Finally, two essays examine the problem of refugee women in east Texas and the dangers facing western frontier women. These essays develop the historical understanding of what it meant to be a Texas woman during the Civil War and also contribute to a deeper understanding of the complexity of the war and its effects.

The first Gentile who accepted Jesus in Antioch of Syria became a problem for the young church. The mother church in Jerusalem was not equipped to handle a non-Jew, either doctrinally or emotionally, yet everything was changing! Barnabas had no trouble adjusting to the new circumstances, but the leaders in Jerusalem could never fully accept the differences of the New Covenant. Gentiles were forced to face the question, "Must I become a Jew in order to be saved?" This became a controversy which troubled Paul's entire ministry. The advocates who stirred it up were called "Some men who came from James." We will see how Paul responded to the question, "How Jewish must the Church be?" Peter, Barnabas, James (the brother of Jesus), and Paul will be seen like never before. T. DEERING MANNING was ordained to the ministry in 1951. He holds the Bachelor's degree from Atlanta Christian College; and Master's degree from ZOE University. He also has received honorary doctorates in Christian Education, Literature, and Philosophy in Theology. He has served churches in Illinois, North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. He currently serves as Associate Pastor of Morningstar Family Church, U.S. representative for Revival of East Slavic Land, and Bible Professor at North Florida Theological Seminary. He is married to Beverly Anne Meares of South Carolina, and they have lived in Florida for more than thirty five years. Other writings include EYE WITNESSES OF HIS MAJESTY (Xulon Press), NOT BY MIGHT NOR POWER (history of Victory Christian Center), and BIBLICAL DISCIPLESHIP (a study of Biblical Leadership).

Lets bring up the obvious and deal with it together! We men all run the same race and stumble along the same bumps and potholes; however, we isolate ourselves from one another, pretending everything is OK. Christian men are falling. Many men in our local churches are currently on the fast track toward destruction. Many are trapped in self-made cages, hiding themselves in darkness, hoping no one sees where they really are, and at the same time earnestly desiring for someone to set them free. But we dont talk about these things. The Church must take drastic measures, but what can we do, and what should we do? Journey to Freedom offers an answer: authentic fellowship. Its missing among so many Christian men in so many of our churches today. What is authentic fellowship? What does it look like? And where in Scripture can we see it in action? Find out how you can experience biblical, authentic fellowship in your life. Start your journey to freedom right now!
