Continue reading the award-winning Love and Magic series with this sexy paranormal romance, and enjoy a world of dangerous seduction, witty banter, and enemies-to-lovers happily ever afters! Warning: Includes a charming hot mess of a demon hero, delightfully snarky banter, lots of F-bombs, spicy AF steamy scenes, and a well-behaved witch who learns to cut loose. One night. That’s all they need to get each other out of their systems. At least according to demon Tallak when he suggests a night of no-holds-barred bed sport to witch Hazel Murray. Tallak’s goals in life are simple—after more than 20 years in a fae dungeon, he just wants to relish his freedom and build a healthy relationship with Basil, the son he’d presumed dead. Having the hots for the witch who raised Basil? Bad idea. Opposite of simple. As Elder witch and head of her family, Hazel has enough on her plate trying to keep the witch community from splintering after the end of the war. Lusting after the biological father of her adopted son is the last thing she needs. Especially since that father is a recent prison escapee demon with a questionable moral compass. A responsible witch and mother would steer clear. But Hazel has been so good for so long…maybe it’s time to be just a little bit bad. Witchcraft, the Devil, and Emotions in Early Modern England by Charlotte-Rose Millar Pdf

This book represents the first systematic study of the role of the Devil in English witchcraft pamphlets for the entire period of state-sanctioned witchcraft prosecutions (1563-1735). It provides a rereading of English witchcraft, one which moves away from an older historiography which underplays the role of the Devil in English witchcraft and instead highlights the crucial role that the Devil, often in the form of a familiar spirit, took in English witchcraft belief. One of the key ways in which this book explores the role of the Devil is through emotions. Stories of witches were made up of a complex web of emotionally implicated accusers, victims, witnesses, and supposed perpetrators. They reveal a range of emotional experiences that do not just stem from malefic witchcraft but also, and primarily, from a witch’s links with the Devil. This book, then, has two main objectives. First, to suggest that English witchcraft pamphlets challenge our understanding of English witchcraft as a predominantly non-diabolical crime, and second, to highlight how witchcraft narratives emphasized emotions as the primary motivation for witchcraft acts and accusations.

Cursed Britain by Thomas Waters Pdf

The definitive history of how witchcraft and black magic have survived, through the modern era and into the present dayCursed Britain unveils the enduring power of witchcraft, curses and black magic in modern times. Few topics are so secretive or controversial. Yet, whether in the 1800s or the early 2000s, when disasters struck or personal misfortunes mounted, many Britons found themselves believing in things they had previously dismissed – dark supernatural forces.Historian Thomas Waters here explores the lives of cursed or bewitched people, along with the witches and witch-busters who helped and harmed them. Waters takes us on a fascinating journey from Scottish islands to the folklore-rich West Country, from the immense territories of the British Empire to metropolitan London. We learn why magic caters to deep-seated human needs but see how it can also be abused, and discover how witchcraft survives by evolving and changing. Along the way, we examine an array of remarkable beliefs and rituals, from traditional folk magic to diverse spiritualities originating in Africa and Asia. This is a tale of cynical quacks and sincere magical healers, depressed people and furious vigilantes, innocent victims and rogues who claimed to possess evil abilities. Their spellbinding stories raise important questions about the state’s role in regulating radical spiritualities, the fragility of secularism and the true nature of magic.

Witches, Scientists, Philosophers: Essays and Lectures by Robert E. Butts Pdf

Robert E. Butts (1928-1997) was a philosopher and historian of science whose central concerns were the distinction between the rational and the irrational. He viewed scientific rationality as our major defence against the various conditions that encourage witch hunts and similar outbursts of irrationality, with all their attendant pain and terror. Butts saw himself as a pragmatic realist, combining what he took to be the best aspects of logical empiricism with a historically informed pragmatism, deeply appreciative of the methods of science, trying to describe a kind of rationality essential in the struggle to preserve human values. This volume gathers previously unpublished essays and lectures with some previously published, thematically related essays. It includes essays and lectures on philosophical aspects of the European witch hunt, on scientific rationality and methodology, and on the relationships between science and philosophy exhibited in the writings of such historically significant figures as Leibniz, D'Alembert, Hume, Kant, Carnap and Kuhn.
