The Only One: A Memoir of Hope by Wendy Moses Pdf

By the age of twelve, Wendy Moses had been diagnosed with three life-threatening diseases. Cushing’s Syndrome, a neuroendocrine tumor, and multiple endocrine neoplasia plagued her body. Because no doctor had ever seen a case like hers before, she was given less than six months to live. Suddenly her childhood was filled with tests, scans, and appointments while multiple doctors tried anything and everything to save her life. This is a story of fear, as Wendy’s family had to stare into the face of death. It is a story of pain, as wave after wave of bad news battered her young heart. It is a story of dishonesty, as she tried to cover her mental and emotional pain with drugs. It is a story of solitude, as being the only one left her heart empty and starving for empathy from those who would never understand. Wendy’s story is also filled with love from her family. It is filled with comfort in the many prayers and well-wishes from countless friends and strangers. It is filled with peace that there is a purpose for her years of pain. But most of all, this is a story of hope. Hope in forgiveness, hope in healing, hope in the knowledge that her life holds value. Hope that maybe just one life will be changed by her story.

This time, though, Wendy burns not with passion but with a secret: with Hook as her ally, she is there to defeat the evil that lies inside of Peter, the evil that holds all Neverland hostage—the Shadow. To do this, Wendy must quietly undo Peter from inside his heart while at the same time convincing Tink to betray the twisted love that binds them together. As all of Neverland prepares to fight, Wendy races to untangle Peter’s connection to the Shadow, a secret long buried in the Forsaken Garden. When the time comes, pirates, mermaids, Lost Boys, and the Darling family will all rise—but if Wendy can’t call the Shadow, they will all be destroyed by Peter’s dark soul. War has come to paradise, and Neverland will never be the same. Wendy Darling: Shadow is the thrilling final installment in Colleen Oakes’s Wendy Darling Trilogy.

Fractured Bonds by Claudia A. Niemeyer Pdf

This book relates some of our experiences during 30 years as foster parents. The reality of what these children endured before and after placement in the foster care system is heartbreaking. After all these years, my husband Ron and I cling stubbornly to our belief that time and man can change, but God and truth will not.My goal is to inform the public, about the foster care system. I hope to sound the alarm loud and clear, that the current foster care system is not working. I want to bring attention to the powerless children, within the system, being tossed about in the waves of loophole laws, uninformed policy makers, non-committed decision-makers, and non-motivated and often disinterested birth parents. Court mandated and enforced accountability must take place at all levels involved!

Hopeless And Unwanted by Susan Cambridge Pdf

This honest and raw memoir is not easy to read, but it should be deemed essential reading for anyone who works in the field of child welfare. Susan Cambridge’s childhood was horrendous. Unwanted and neglected, she was emotionally, verbally, and physically abused by her mother and brother and left to fend for herself from the age of nine. She slept in a locker for seven years without anyone knowing, went days without eating proper food, and bounced from foster home to foster home. Fortified by her faith in God, and against all odds, Susan pursued her education and a career in child social services. After working in the field for almost three decades, Susan made it her mission to ensure that all social service professionals and foster parents fully understand and appreciate the way in which childhood trauma endures and impacts its victims for the rest of their lives. That mission is this book: Hopeless and Unwanted. Intended as an eye-opening dive into the experiences and lasting impacts of childhood trauma and their intersection with the child welfare system, Susan invites survivors of childhood trauma and social workers alike to leave damaging cycles behind and find lasting healing.

Wendy, Master of Art by Walter Scott Pdf

THE EXISTENTIAL DREAD OF MAKING (OR NOT MAKING) ART TAKES CENTER STAGE IN THIS TRENCHANT SATIRE OF MFA CULTURE Wendy is an aspiring contemporary artist whose adventures have taken her to galleries, art openings, and parties in Los Angeles, Tokyo, and Toronto. In Wendy, Master of Art, Walter Scott’s sly wit and social commentary zero in on MFA culture as our hero decides to hunker down and complete a master of fine arts at the University of Hell in small-town Ontario. Finally Wendy has space to refine her artistic practice, but in this calm, all of her unresolved insecurities and fears explode at full volume—usually while hungover. What is the post-Jungian object as symbol? Will she ever understand her course reading—or herself? What if she’s just not smart enough? As she develops as an artist and a person, Wendy also finds herself in a teaching position, mentoring a perpetually sobbing grade-grubbing undergrad. Scott’s incisively funny take on art school pretensions isn’t the only focus. Wendy, Master of Art explores the politics of open relationships and polyamoury, performative activism, the precarity of a life in the arts, as well as the complexities of gender identity, sex work, drug use, and more. At its heart, this is a book about the give and take of community - about someone learning how to navigate empathy and boundaries, and to respect herself. It is deeply funny and endlessly relatable as it shows Wendy growing up from Millennial art party girl to successful artist, friend, teacher—and Master of Art.
