Trans(in)fusion by Ranjan Ghosh Pdf

Trans(in)fusion is a highly original book that tries to radicalize our ways of ‘critical thinking’ across disciplines. The book, refreshingly, brings into play critical philosophy, literary criticism, studies in mathematics, physics, chemistry and developmental biology, and various other disciplines and epistemes to set up a tenure and tenor of ‘critical thinking’. The book is an exclusive intervention in how thinking across traditions and systems of thought can generate distinct interpretive experiences. It questions, in a unique transcultural and transversal bind, our ways of hermeneutic and literary-cultural thinking. Trans(in)fusion resets the dialectics between text and theory.

New Developments in Nuclear Fusion Research by Y. Nakamura Pdf

Nuclear fusion is a process in which two nuclei join, forming a larger nucleus and releasing or absorbing energy. With some exceptions, nuclei lighter than iron release energy when they fuse, while heavier nuclei absorb energy; this is because iron has the largest binding energy. Nuclear fusion of light elements is the energy source which causes stars to shine and hydrogen bombs to explode. Nuclear fusion of heavy elements is part of the process that triggers supernovae. Nuclear fusion as an energy source has several advantages: It is vast, new source of energy; Fuels are plentiful; Inherently safe since any malfunction results in a rapid shutdown; No atmospheric pollution leading to acid rain or "greenhouse" effect; Radioactivity of the reactor structure, caused by the neutrons, decays rapidly and can be minimised by careful selection of low-activation materials. Provision for geological time-span disposal is not needed. This book brings together leading research in this field which will play a major role in the 21st century.

Nuclear Fusion by C.M. Braams,P.E. Stott Pdf

Fusion research started over half a century ago. Although the task remains unfinished, the end of the road could be in sight if society makes the right decisions. Nuclear Fusion: Half a Century of Magnetic Confinement Fusion Research is a careful, scholarly account of the course of fusion energy research over the past fifty years. The authors outline the different paths followed by fusion research from initial ignorance to present understanding. They explore why a particular scheme would not work and why it was more profitable to concentrate on the mainstream tokamak development. The book features descriptive sections, in-depth explanations of certain physical and technical issues, scientific terms, and an extensive glossary that explains relevant abbreviations and acronyms.

Fusion Physics by MITSURU KIKUCHI Pdf

Humans do not live by bread alone. Physically we are puny creatures with limited prowess, but with unlimited dreams. We see a mountain and want to move it to carve out a path for ourselves. We see a river and want to tame it so that it irrigates our fields. We see a star and want to fly to its planets to secure a future for our progeny. For all this, we need a genie who will do our bidding at a flip of our fingers. Energy is such a genie. Modern humans need energy and lots of it to live a life of comfort. In fact, the quality of life in different regions of the world can be directly correlated with the per capita use of energy [1.1–1.5]. In this regard, the human development index (HDI) of various countries based on various reports by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) [1.6] (Fig. 1.1), which is a parameter measuring the quality of life in a given part of the world, is directly determined by the amount of per capita electricity consumption. Most of the developing world (~5 billion people) is crawling up the UN curve of HDI versus per capita electricity consumption, from abysmally low values of today towards the average of the whole world and eventually towards the average of the developed world. This translates into a massive energy hunger for the globe as a whole. It has been estimated that by the year 2050, the global electricity demand will go up by a factor of up to 3 in a high growth scenario [1.7–1.9]. The requirements beyond 2050 go up even higher.

Remapping Energopolitics by Abhisek Ghosal Pdf

Emerging concerns and contexts of geological thinking seek to bring out how energopolitical interventions into the geokinetic "unfolding" of the Earth assume new dimensions and directions, owing to the complex and evolving intersections between "folds" and "fluxes" of energy in the context of oceans. Written in negotiation with the notion of energopolitics articulated by Dominic Boyer, Remapping Energopolitics calls for ruling out any epistemic attempt to structure the rhizomatic movements of energy through the transformations of oceans. Aiming to delve deeper into the complex junctures among energy, ocean and earth(ing), epistemic ends of Blue Humanities are reworked with the help of geophilosophical reading of some Sri Lankan minor writings and in doing so, Remapping Energopolitics makes a series of attempts to reconceptualize "energy thinking" in line with the differential and deterritorial grammatology of Deleuzo-Guattarian micropolitics, thereby offering a critique of the structured and stratified understandings of "energy linkages".
