Tripping up the Basement Stairs before Dawn by John Seymour Eldridge Pdf

John Seymour Eldridge began writing poetry and lyrics in Seattle, during the social revolution of the 60’s, when the war in Vietnam was causing turbulent times in the lives of a generation of flower children around the world. The Spiritual leaders of that revolution, our poets and songwriters, were calling for profound changes from within the young men and women in their expansive, Self-aware audience. John Seymour Eldridge, known as “Jack” to his friends, became a conscientious objector to the draft. He was arrested and jailed by the FBI for his beliefs. After his release from prosecution by the ACLU, John lived on the beaches of Hawaii for a year. He was working as a fine dining waiter in the plush hotels of Kailua Kona on the Big Island. Responding to a job offer from the owners of Channel 13 Television, he returned to Seattle and became instrumental in the creation of a well-received Arts & Entertainment Guide for Seattle/Tacoma and the greater Puget Sound area. His expertise was also tapped for work as a Talent Coordinator for Live Programming at the independent TV station. Thus began a career in journalism, covering music and the arts, which encompassed editing and publishing several newspapers, producing video workshops for prominent authors, and the management of a Self-awareness book publishing company. Today, at the age of 70 years young, John continues to write poetry and lyrics, with warmth and sensitivity, that express the insights he has experienced on the Way of Being. This book, Tripping up the Basement Stairs before Dawn, is a result of his awakening.

Dawn of the Messiah Book1 by Christopher Clarke-Milton Pdf

An evil force has come to the small town of Whisper Creek, and a young boy's life is about to change as this evil takes control of his friends. Derek's life will never again be the same, as he wades through the lies and deceit that papers his past. He is stalked by demons and protected by angels. His journey will take him to the edge of eternity, and his choice will either make him a champion of Hell, or a soldier of Salvation. My wife Suzanne and I live in Miami Beach Florida along with our children Victoria and Luis. I have been saved since 2001 and have been on fire for the Lord since. My walk with God hasn't always been easy, but I have learned that He uses the trials and tribulations to forge us into vessels for His use. I came from a very religious background which had all the outward trimmings of Christianity, but inwardly denied his power and grace. Through the grace and mercy of God I heard His call to repentance and responded to it. He showed me the truth of what it was to be truly saved and set free. I finally understood that it wasn't by my good works or anything I did that would secure me in heaven. It was only by the merits and blood of my Creator and Savior Jesus Christ.

This book is about my various jobs from the young age of nine to sixty-four years old. The most important point is not how many jobs I have had, but how I got my jobs. Although I have had many jobs, I was never without work. One job seemed to flow into the next employment opportunity. The most amazing thing about all of my jobs is that I never filled out an application and had very few official interviews. I believe the Lord took me from one job to the other for over 55 years and He continues to guide me. And now my wish for each of my readers: May the Lord bless you and keep you and may His face shine upon you and bring you peace. Happy Reading!

The Together Years by Shirley Randels Floyd Pdf

This book is not a memoir but a compilation of actual journals that the author kept as her children were born and growing from infants to young adults. It captures the funny sayings of young children we all wish we had written down at the time. It also captures the very real problems of parenting, sibling rivalries, and settling into new neighborhoods. The author writes with her heart and records the ordinary moments so they wont be forgotten. She also writes with a very young voice, and we see her mature along with her children over the fifteen years that this book encompasses.

The Error of Our Ways by David Carkeet Pdf

New York Times Notable Book: “The sorrows of Job [visit] a St. Louis nut salesman, with hilarious results . . . [A] wry updating of the biblical tragedy” (Kirkus Reviews, starred review). In this “astute, entertaining novel,” two very different men cross each other’s paths in St. Louis, Missouri (The New York Times). Ben Hudnut is an upper-middle-class entrepreneur determined to bring an affordable cashew to American consumers. When he isn’t pursuing this goal, he’s usually in the company of his wife and four daughters—occasionally joined for family dinner by his dull but devoted secretary. Jeremy Cook, meanwhile, is a cynical unemployed academic, a linguist who doesn’t know what to do with himself—until he’s pressured into studying Ben Hudnut’s baby girl and her unusual speech patterns. But as different as these two men are, they will soon have one thing in common, as both of their lives begin to fall apart around them . . . “A dark domestic comedy that traces the perils of middle-aged manhood, told with attentiveness to the subtleties of communication.” —The New York Times Book Review “Witty, good-natured, and completely convincing: Carkeet has managed, with sympathy and charm, to trace the exceptional adventures of an utterly ordinary man.” —Kirkus Reviews (starred review) “A shrewd, wickedly funny delight, full of hilarious takes on rocky marriages, sexual boredom, raising kids, communication gaps—and nutty doings, as in almonds and cashews . . . A delectable observer of human foibles and pretense.” —Publishers Weekly (starred review)

Fighting for Space by Travis Lupick Pdf

North America is in the grips of a drug epidemic; with the introduction of fentanyl, the chances of a fatal overdose are greater than ever, prompting many to rethink the war on drugs. Public opinion has slowly begun to turn against prohibition, and policy-makers are finally beginning to look at addiction as a health issue as opposed to one for the criminal justice system. While deaths across the continent continue to climb, Fighting for Space explains the concept of harm reduction as a crucial component of a city’s response to the drug crisis. It tells the story of a grassroots group of addicts in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside who waged a political street fight for two decades to transform how the city treats its most marginalized citizens. Over the past twenty-five years, this group of residents from Canada's poorest neighborhood organized themselves in response to the growing number of overdose deaths and demanded that addicts be given the same rights as any other citizen; against all odds, they eventually won. But just as their battle came to an end, fentanyl arrived and opioid deaths across North America reached an all-time high. The "genocide" in Vancouver finally sparked government action. Twenty years later, as the same pattern plays out in other cities, there is much that advocates for reform can learn from Vancouver's experience. Fighting for Space tells that story—including case studies in Ohio, Florida, New York, California, Massachusetts, and Washington state—with the same passionate fervor as the activists whose tireless work gave dignity to addicts and saved countless lives.
