Truth Or Tradition by Terry Johns Pdf

In this book we will be looking mostly at the institutional church, the relationship that believers have with it and its compatibility with the Kingdom of God. We will be asking if, over the past 1700 years, the traditions of men have gradually usurped the authority of the Bible. We will try to identify some of Satan's tactics for deceiving believers, and ask if indeed much of what passes as the Christian Church is in fact a subtle counterfeit engineered by the Prince of Lies. "I have just read your book on my computer and I am breathing air that is purer and fresher than it has been in a long time. Praise God for your fearless approach to this very important topic. Jesus is indeed coming back for a spotless Church. May God bless you as you seek to shed light on these dormant truths! Truly we are witnessing the reformation of the Church in our generation" Ray H. Truth or Tradition? by Les Leno Pdf

Many of us, both Christians and non-Christians alike, hold deeply engrained erroneous beliefs about God. Because of the prevalent views of our culture, and what we have grown up hearing, we often buy into one or more of the false “truths” that have circulated for centuries. Whatever the belief system, it determines what we think God is like, how we relate to Him, how we think He relates to us, and how we think salvation works. Thus, a saving relationship with God and our eternal destiny depend on a belief system solidly based on truth. In the light of Scripture, Les Leno examines the most basic tenets of Christianity—the law, obedience, sin, salvation, atonement, legalism, faith, and the gospel—to uncover the real truth that lies hidden beneath layers of tradition and misinterpretation. As you read this book, you will discover a God who loves sinners unconditionally, who comes looking for us when we are afraid to be found, and who paid the ultimate price to win us back to love and loyalty. Perhaps you will meet God for the first time. Or maybe your faith in and love for God will be reaffirmed. Whatever the case, discover for yourself what is Truth or Tradition.

Truth or Tradition by Bob Raymond Pdf

This book explores and presents a fresh perspective on many often misunderstood doctrines of the Christian faith. This book answers many questions: Does God change his mind? Are all my prayers really answered? Is God sovereign, or do I have free will? Did God choose me, or did I choose Him? Is this the best world God could create? Having served as Bob Raymonds pastor for the last few years, I have had an opportunity to spend time with him discussing the Word of God. I have found him to be a man that doesnt just accept what hes always been taught, but with a passion, he dives deep to discover truth for himself. Because of that, he blasts apart much of our traditional thinking, causing us to spend time contemplating our own preconceived notions. I invite you to read this work with an open Bible, an open notebook, and an open mind. You will be blessed! Dr. Randal E. Helms Senior Pastor Forestbrook Baptist Church

Truth or Tradition Volume One by James R. Johnson Pdf

Since the beginning of time, man’s destiny has been to discover his true purpose in life: to find meaning, direction, and fulfillment in this vast and complex world in which we live. It is man’s intent to understand himself and to know exactly where he fits into the scheme of things. His lifelong pursuit is to understand the very essence of his being, such as: what is a soul? Do I have one? Does it die? Does it go to heaven? How does the soul operate within my physical body? How is the soul associated with the Holy Spirit of God? Are the Spirit and soul the same? Does an animal have a soul? Does the soul of an animal go to heaven? How does this come into play within the rest of God’s creation and how does God deal with all the other individual segments of His creation? If you have ever asked yourself any of these questions, Truth or Tradition is the book for you. It is a must-read for the spiritually minded! This book will expand your mind to avenues you never gave much thought to before. It will take you to levels you’ve never been before. It will challenge you to a completely new way of thinking. Truth or Tradition is a compilation of ideas, notes, and theories gathered over the last twenty-five years from various sermons and studies, and coming from a wide variety of sources. Author James R. Johnson has always had an unquenchable curiosity that overlapped into his Christian walk. He wants to challenge readers to be more diligent in studying the word, thus allowing the Holy Spirit to discern what is truth and what is traditional. The book also reveals how God loves and cares for His entire creation, and how everything operates within the will of God. Do Pets Go to Heaven?

Tradition as Truth and Communication by Pascal Boyer Pdf

Tradition is a central concept in the social sciences, but it is commonly treated as unproblematic. Dr. Boyer insists that social anthropology requires a theory of tradition, its constitution and transmission. He treats tradition "as a type of interaction which results in the repetition of certain communicative events," and therefore as a form of social action. Tradition as Truth and Communication deals particularly with oral communication and focuses on the privileged role of licensed speakers and the ritual contexts in which certain aspects of tradition are characteristically transmitted. Drawing on cognitive psychology, Dr. Boyer proposes a set of general hypotheses to be tested by ethnographic field research. He has opened up an important new field for investigation within social anthropology.

Divine Truth or Human Tradition? by Patrick Navas Pdf

In Divine Truth or Human Tradition? the author critically examines the viewpoints and Scripture expositions of prominent evangelical scholars and apologistsincluding Dr. James R. White (author of The Forgotten Trinity), Dr. John MacArthur (President of The Master?s Seminary), Wayne Grudem (author of the widely-read Systematic Theology), Robert Morey (author of The Trinity, Evidence and Issues), Robert L. Reymond (author of A New Systematic Theology of the Christian Faith), and others According to what has long been considered mainstream Christian orthodoxy, the doctrine of the Trinity (the idea that the one God of the Bible is a singular being made up of three coequal and coeternal persons?) is not only central to the Christian faith, but even necessary for one to accept in order to be counted as a true Christian and be saved. Such a demand on a Christian?s faith has come across as strange and perplexing to many, especially so in light of the fact pointed out by one respected Trinitarian: [The Trinity] is not clearly or explicitly taught anywhere in Scripture, yet it is widely regarded as a central doctrine, indispensable to the Christian faith. In this regard, it goes contrary to what is virtually an axiom [that is, a given, a self-evident truth] of biblical doctrine, namely, that there is a direct correlation between the scriptural clarity of a doctrine and its cruciality to the faith and life of the church. (Millard J. Erickson, God in Three Persons, p. 11. Emphasis added) Understandably, this fact has raised questions in the minds of Christians and truth-seekers alike ever since the doctrine was first articulated in the late 4th century. Many Christians have wondered: How can a doctrine that is not clearly or explicitly taught in the Bible be necessary to accept in order to be a true practitioner of the Christian faith?

Christmas: Tradition, Truth and Total Baubles by Nick Page Pdf

Why is Christmas the way it is? How did we get from the birth of Jesus to everyone pushing their credit card and their belts to their maximum extent? Starting with the events surrounding Jesus' birth, this book takes us through centuries of commemoration, celebration and over-consumption. Along the way we'll find out why we eat turkey, how an obscure Turkish saint turned into a man flying a sleigh, and why that tree in your house should really contain an apple and a snake. Combining in-depth historical research, cheerfully irreverent humour and cutting-edge guesswork, Nick Page explores what this festival really means, and how we can get back to something real and true beneath all that wrapping.

American Christianity by Scott Glenn Pdf

"AMERICAN CHRISTIANITY: Truth or Tradition? A Personal Perspective, is a "spin-off" from Dr. Glenn's previous successful book of motivation, The Triangle Plan: A Guide to A Successful Life Derived from Personal Experience. Within the Triangle Plan lies Dr. Glenn's philosophical strategy of success, a triangle of principles that includes God, family, and education. Glenn explains how morals, values, ethics, and the Christian faith all form part of the triangle to encompass three disciplines: home, school, and God. Glenn stresses that comprehending the three types of love: Phileo (Brotherly), Eros (Sensual), and Agape (Unconditional Love of God), is also an important aspect of life that should be understood and emphasized. In his recent book, AMERICAN CHRISTIANITY: Truth or Tradition? A Personal Perspective, Glenn emphasizes the God section of his last book (The Triangle Plan) and adds to it by exploring the five major religions of the world (Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism), comparing and contrasting them to the Christian religion in terms of such aspects as reason and history."--Amazon.com.

Truth Or Tradition by Lew White Pdf

Truth is the mortal enemy of tradition. Truth is reality, but tradition is religion. Therefore, Truth is a threat to religion. Yahuah's Scripture of Truth is the ultimate way to test everything we believe. If Scripture doesn't teach it, then it originates from men's imaginations, and should not be taught. No one can find the teaching in Scripture of a Sunday Shabath, sacraments, eating unclean animals, indulgences, celibacy, holy water, statue veneration, an annual observance of Yahusha's birth, or the word Easter. Most everything that is taught is ignored, including the Covenant, or Ten Commandments that define sin and teach us how to love. Everything that is encouraged is tradition. Truth is logical and legal (lawful), and unchanging. Tradition is programming to perform what is unlawful. This book is written to awaken those who are sleeping, misled by pastors who have been unwilling to speak Truth. It will equip you to challenge Christian pastors to be restored to Truth. If a person asks their pastor, "Do you teach Truth?", they will respond in the affirmative. And yet, if the next question is "Do you believe December 25th was the night the Mashiak was born?", they will begin to show their "cracked cisterns". Cracked cisterns don't hold water. When traditions are exposed to be make-believe and powerless to help us, fear leads to anger, and anger leads to the awakening. To wake up from a bad dream, we sometimes have to experience great fear. Paganism from the Sumerian culture (Babel) became imprinted on all humanity and scattered around the whole world. The confusion of languages was so powerful and effective, it remains to this day. The imprinted paganism from Babel is present also. Traditions are basically habits, and they behave much like an infection. They cling to the basic building-block of civilization: the family unit, and pass from parents into the children. This book will discuss how pagan traditions transformed into seemingly innocent habits, yet the "DNA" of the underlying paganism is still there. Prepare for the coming of Yahusha. If they do not repent of tradition, they will perish.

Irenaeus's Demonstration of the Apostolic Preaching by Iain M. MacKenzie Pdf

This title was first published in 2002. The theology of Irenaeus, and the Demonstration of the Apostolic Preaching in particular, is pivotal in showing the way in which the fathers of the church interpreted scripture and distilled doctrine. The Demonstration is an important hinge showing how the doctrine of the fourth century with its definitive councils and definitions of faith, opens out from the new testament apostolic and evangelical witness. Presenting the full translation of the Demonstration of Irenaeus by Dean Armitage Robinson, this book offers a detailed theological commentary by Canon Iain MacKenzie on this foundational doctrinal text. MacKenzie sets out the main theological themes throughout Irenaeus' work, and explores his method of systematic theology, Athanasius's dependence on Irenaeus, and Irenaeus' influence on doctrine in the fourth century - particularly the works of Athanasius, Basil of Caesarea, Gregory of Nazianzus and Gregory of Nyssa. Highlighting the importance of this second century theologian for theology today, this commentary and theological interpretation offers an incentive to study Irenaeus in the wider development of Christian doctrine as a cardinal figure in the appreciation of systematic theology.

Truth, Tradition, Or Tare? by Hollisa Alewine Pdf

Readers of the New Testament can find its treatment of tradition confusing. Many of the customs in its pages are Jewish, and therefore foreign to non-Jewish believers. Yeshua (Jesus) sometimes corrected those observing religious customs, yet at other times he said they SHOULD have observed them. Paul appears to do the same in his letters, for twice he instructs non-Jewish believers to keep the Jewish customs he passed on to them. Is there some way to determine which customs are "good" and which are "bad"? The methods used by the prophets of the Older Testament (TANAKH) as well as the writers of the Newer Testament did leave readers guidelines to divide seeds of truth from tradition, and then to separate a tradition grown from truth from a "taredition" grown from a different seed. The most important consideration in the prophets', Yeshua's, and the apostles' instructions is the sincere heart that holds justice, mercy, and faithfulness as the weightier matters of any religious custom.
