Ultrametric Calculus by W. H. Schikhof Pdf

This is an introduction to p-adic analysis which is elementary yet complete and which displays the variety of applications of the subject. Dr Schikhof is able to point out and explain how p-adic and 'real' analysis differ. This approach guarantees the reader quickly becomes acquainted with this equally 'real' analysis and appreciates its relevance. The reader's understanding is enhanced and deepened by the large number of exercises included throughout; these both test the reader's grasp and extend the text in interesting directions. As a consequence, this book will become a standard reference for professionals (especially in p-adic analysis, number theory and algebraic geometry) and will be welcomed as a textbook for advanced students of mathematics familiar with algebra and analysis.

p-adic Numbers by Fernando Quadros Gouvea Pdf

There are numbers of all kinds: rational, real, complex, p-adic. The p-adic numbers are less well known than the others, but they play a fundamental role in number theory and in other parts of mathematics. This elementary introduction offers a broad understanding of p-adic numbers. From the reviews: "It is perhaps the most suitable text for beginners, and I shall definitely recommend it to anyone who asks me what a p-adic number is." --THE MATHEMATICAL GAZETTE

An Introduction to Ultrametric Summability Theory by P.N. Natarajan Pdf

Ultrametric analysis has emerged as an important branch of mathematics in recent years. This book presents, for the first time, a brief survey of the research to date in ultrametric summability theory, which is a fusion of a classical branch of mathematics (summability theory) with a modern branch of analysis (ultrametric analysis). Several mathematicians have contributed to summability theory as well as functional analysis. The book will appeal to both young researchers and more experienced mathematicians who are looking to explore new areas in analysis.

Ultrametric Functional Analysis by Wilhelmus Hendricus Schikhof,C. Perez-Garcia,Alain Escassut Pdf

This volume contains research articles based on lectures given at the Seventh International Conference on $p$-adic Functional Analysis. The articles, written by leading international experts, provide a complete overview of the latest contributions in basic functional analysis (Hilbert and Banach spaces, locally convex spaces, orthogonality, inductive limits, spaces of continuous functions, strict topologies, operator theory, automatic continuity, measure and integrations, Banach and topological algebras, summability methods, and ultrametric spaces), analytic functions (meromorphic functions, roots of rational functions, characterization of injective holomorphic functions, and Gelfand transforms in algebras of analytic functions), differential equations, Banach-Hopf algebras, Cauchy theory of Levi-Civita fields, finite differences, weighted means, $p$-adic dynamical systems, and non-Archimedean probability theory and stochastic processes. The book is written for graduate students and research mathematicians. It also would make a good reference source for those in related areas, such as classical functional analysis, complex analytic functions, probability theory, dynamical systems, orthomodular spaces, number theory, and representations of $p$-adic groups.

Clusters, Orders, and Trees: Methods and Applications by Fuad Aleskerov,Boris Goldengorin,Panos M. Pardalos Pdf

The volume is dedicated to Boris Mirkin on the occasion of his 70th birthday. In addition to his startling PhD results in abstract automata theory, Mirkin’s ground breaking contributions in various fields of decision making and data analysis have marked the fourth quarter of the 20th century and beyond. Mirkin has done pioneering work in group choice, clustering, data mining and knowledge discovery aimed at finding and describing non-trivial or hidden structures—first of all, clusters, orderings and hierarchies—in multivariate and/or network data. This volume contains a collection of papers reflecting recent developments rooted in Mirkin’s fundamental contribution to the state-of-the-art in group choice, ordering, clustering, data mining and knowledge discovery. Researchers, students and software engineers will benefit from new knowledge discovery techniques and application directions.

The Complex Networks of Economic Interactions by Akira Namatame,Taisei Kaizouji,Yuuji Aruka Pdf

Understanding the mechanism of a socio-economic system requires more than an understanding of the individuals that comprise the system. It also requires understanding how individuals interact with each other, and how the agg- gated outcome can be more than the sum of individual behaviors. This book contains the papers fostering the formation of an active multi-disciplinary community on socio-economic systems with the exciting new ?elds of age- based modeling and econophysics. We especially intend to increase the awareness of researchers in many ?elds with sharing the common view many economic and social activities as collectives of a large-scale heterogeneous and interacting agents. Economists seek to understand not only how individuals behave but also how the interaction of many individuals leads to complex outcomes. Age- based modeling is a method for studying socio-economic systems exhibiting the following two properties: (1) the system is composed of interacting agents, and (2) the system exhibits emergent properties, that is, properties arising from the interactions of the agents that cannot be deduced simply by agg- gating the properties of the system’s components. When the interaction of the agents is contingent on past experience, and especially when the agents continually adapt to that experience, mathematical analysis is typically very limited in its ability to derive the outcome.
