P.A.I.N. by Sincere StreetPoet Pdf

P.A.I.N. (People Allover In Need) is a collection of poems from author Sincere StreetPoet that cannot be summed up in just one word. Divided into three parts, P.A.I.N. explores some of the mental and emotional roller coaster rides of life. In Part I: Loves P.A.I.N., the author explores the wide spectrums of love, from the sheer joy and happiness of being in love (Flower, Dipped My Pen Part II) to the trials and tribulations of a troubled relationship(While You Were Out, Domestic Violence) to the finality of a love ending(Call 911/Divorce), we have all experienced one or more of these emotions at some point in our lives. Part II: Black P.A.I.N. offers audiences the authors thoughts and feeling as a young African American. From societal ills such as poverty, alcoholism, crime and single parent house holds (Lusting Liberation, The Way It Is), to self destruction within the African American community (Crab N------,Wake Up!!!!!!!!), to racism and oppression (W.H.I.T.E. M.A.N.), Sincere StreetPoet is honest, raw, and uncut with emotion in a plea for all Americans to examine themselves and unite together to heal their wounds. And finally in Part III: No more P.A.I..N. its the calm after the storm. The emotions and thoughts of a person who has learned to Let It Go, whether venting frustations (Kiss My , Hate) or calling upon a higher power(Thank You Jesus), the author takes the audience to the point of being Finally Free.

Hollow Men by Una McCormack Pdf

At the turning point of the Dominion War, Captain Benjamin Sisko, facing certain defeat by the overwhelming and relentless forces of the Dominion, initiated a secret plan to secure the aid of the Romulans, the Federation's longtime adversaries. What began as a desperate attempt to save lives became a descent into an abyss of deception, moral compromise and outright criminal acts, as Sisko became compelled to sacrifice every ideal he believed in - in order to preserve those same ideals. In HOLLOW MEN the aftermath of those events is explored as Sisko returns to Earth to answer for his actions. But to his surprise, no one intends to punish him. The course he took is viewed instead as a necessary and lesser evil which may yet prove to be the salvation of the Federation way of life. But Sisko's own conscience haunts him, and as he continues to seek some kind of penance for what he has done, opportunists within Starfleet itself set in motion a scheme which uses his actions as a springboard from which the Federation will emerge from the war as an imperial power.

American Science Fiction Television and Space by Joel Hawkes,Alexander Christie,Tom Nienhuis Pdf

This collection reads the science fiction genre and television medium as examples of heterotopia (and television as science fiction technology), in which forms, processes, and productions of space and time collide – a multiplicity of spaces produced and (re)configured. The book looks to be a heterotopic production, with different chapters and “spaces” (of genre, production, mediums, technologies, homes, bodies, etc), reflecting, refracting, and colliding to offer insight into spatial relationships and the implications of these spaces for a society that increasingly inhabits the world through the space of the screen. A focus on American science fiction offers further spatial focus for this study – a question of geographical and cultural borders and influence not only in terms of American science fiction but American television and streaming services. The (contested) hegemonic nature of American science fiction television will be discussed alongside a nation that has significantly been understood, even produced, through the television screen. Essays will examine the various (re)configurations, or productions, of space as they collapse into the science fiction heterotopia of television since 1987, the year Star Trek: Next Generation began airing.

Roxana's Revolution by Farin Powell Pdf

"An ambitious novel of an Iranian woman's personal and professional struggles during a time of war and unrest...Powell does a good job of capturing the intense emotions of a very dramatic time...a captivating plot with a well-developed protagonist." -Kirkus Reviews "I thoroughly enjoyed reading Roxana's Revolution, a gripping story of individuals caught in events both inexplicable and out of control. We see the characters pulled between desire for something better for their beloved homeland and the growing knowledge that even worse is waiting for them, their friends, and their families. Eventually reality overwhelms, as it always does, even the most fervent hopes. -John Limbert When the media frenzy over the hostage crisis of 1979 worsens and anti-Iranian sentiment surges all over the United States, Roxana, a Wall Street attorney has no choice but to return to Iran. During a stop in Paris, she meets Steve Radcliff, an American reporter with a tenacious attraction to her. Back in Tehran, where circumstances are nothing less than volatile, Roxana learns that revolutions while exciting and historic on pages of a book are painful to endure. As one crisis after other spins out of control, the government imposes wearing of a mandatory veil. This harsh revolutionary rule and Saddam Hussein's invasion of Iran diminish Roxana's hope to have a normal life. She rejects Steve's marriage proposal and refuses to leave Iran with him. But a near- death experience and loss of her freedom in a border- sealed Iran propel her to enter a marriage doomed from its inception. In this novel, an Iranian woman's life comes full circle as she takes a journey through Europe, and back to the United States. A dire situation takes Roxana back to Paris where a life-altering surprise is waiting for her.
