Voyages of Body and Soul by Ketu H. Katrak,Anita Ratnam Pdf

Voyages of Body and Soul: Selected Female Icons of India and Beyond includes scholarly essays and performance/choreographic notes from a diverse range of contributors on the themes of “Mad and Divine: India’s Female Saint-Poets” and “Epic Women of India and Beyond.” The contributors explore the tendency of patriarchal societies to label exceptional saint-poets yearning for the divine as “mad” because of their resistance to normative and acceptable female behavior. Scholars and performers journey across history, with discussions ranging from the 8th century Tamil mystic poet Andal’s divine poetry, to the 16th century saint-poet Meerabai, to figures across the Indian subcontinent, including Kashmir’s Lalleshwari and Maharashtra’s Janabai, who, as a low caste member, joined the sacred path partly to escape caste oppression. The definition of “epic women” in this volume is multi-faceted: from looking at commonly accepted epic figures, such as the iconic Sita from The Ramayana, to examining epic women in politics, to probing dark women with passions of epic proportions, to legendary teachers of the classical dance style of bharatanatyam, to women with monumental courage and creativity across historical time-periods and geographical locations – Ancient Greece, Ancient India, 20th century Mexico, and Myanmar. Voyages of Body and Soul recognizes creative and courageous female saint-poets, and outspoken women in ancient epics and in contemporary times who follow their chosen paths with deep devotion. Their lives and works are models for the human community in the 21st century.

The Soul of a Pilgrim by Christine Valters Paintner Pdf

The renowned author of eight books and abbess of the online retreat center Abbey of the Arts, Christine Valters Paintner takes readers on a new kind of pilgrimage: an inner journey to discover the heart of God. Eight stages of the pilgrim's way--from hearing the call to coming home--are accompanied by scripture stories of great biblical journeys and the author's unique and creative practices of prayer, writing, and photography. As she did in The Artist's Rule and Eyes of the Heart, Christine Valters Paintner once again helps readers travel to the frontiers of their souls to discover the hidden presence of God. In The Soul of a Pilgrim, Paintner identifies eight stages of the pilgrim's way and shows how to follow these steps to make an intentional, transformative journey to the reader's inner "wild edges." Each phase of the exploration requires a distinct practice such as packing lightly, being uncomfortable, or embracing the unknown. Paintner shows how to cultivate attentiveness to the divine through deep listening, patience, and opening oneself to the gifts that arise in the midst of discomfort. Each of the eight chapters offers reflections on the themes, a scripture story, an invitation to the practice of lectio divina, and a creative exploration through photography and writing.

Phi by Giulio Tononi Pdf

This title is printed in full color throughout. From one of the most original and influential neuroscientists at work today, here is an exploration of consciousness unlike any other—as told by Galileo, who opened the way for the objectivity of science and is now intent on making subjective experience a part of science as well. Galileo’s journey has three parts, each with a different guide. In the first, accompanied by a scientist who resembles Francis Crick, he learns why certain parts of the brain are important and not others, and why consciousness fades with sleep. In the second part, when his companion seems to be named Alturi (Galileo is hard of hearing; his companion’s name is actually Alan Turing), he sees how the facts assembled in the first part can be unified and understood through a scientific theory—a theory that links consciousness to the notion of integrated information (also known as phi). In the third part, accompanied by a bearded man who can only be Charles Darwin, he meditates on how consciousness is an evolving, developing, ever-deepening awareness of ourselves in history and culture—that it is everything we have and everything we are. Not since Gödel, Escher, Bach has there been a book that interweaves science, art, and the imagination with such originality. This beautiful and arresting narrative will transform the way we think of ourselves and the world.

Soul Journeys by Rosalind A. McKnight Pdf

Rosalind McKnight was one of the first, and most successful, researchers to work with Robert Monroe and The Monroe Institute in Virginia. She spent eleven years doing research in a laboratory setting. With the help of Monroe and his Hemi-Sync technology that put her into altered states of consciousness, she explored and reported on various levels of non-physical reality. Her first book, Cosmic Journeys, described a visitation that she had in her earlier life by an energy form that she calls Radiant Lady. When Radiant Lady first appeared forty years ago, she said nothing, leaving McKnight wondering about the purpose of her visit. In 2003, Radiant Lady suddenly reappeared, announcing to McKnight that they had a mission to accomplish together. Radiant Lady acts as "tour guide" into other dimensions where McKnight meets non-physical energies who share their own personal experiences of the dimensions which they inhabit. Written for every soul on the planet, these unforgettable adventures emphasize that all of us have angels and spirit guides waiting to help us discover the inner workings of the multiple worlds in which we exist and to which we will all one day journey.

Journeys Out of the Body by Robert A. Monroe Pdf

The definitive work on the extraordinary phenomenon of out-of-body experiences, by the founder of the internationally known Monroe Institute. Robert Monroe, a Virginia businessman, began to have experiences that drastically altered his life. Unpredictably, and without his willing it, Monroe found himself leaving his physical body to travel via a "second body" to locales far removed from the physical and spiritual realities of his life. He was inhabiting a place unbound by time or death. Praise for Journeys Out of the Body "Monroe's account of his travels, Journeys Out of the Body, jam-packed with parasitic goblins and dead humans, astral sex, scary trips into mind-boggling other dimensions, and practical tips on how to get out of your body, all told with wry humor, quickly became a cult sensation with its publication in 1971, and has been through many printings. Whatever their 'real' explanation, Monroe's trips made for splendid reading." —Michael Hutchinson, author of Megabrain "Robert Monroe's experiences are probably the most intriguing of any person's of our time, with the possible exception of Carlos Castaneda's." —Joseph Chilton Pierce, author of Magical Child "This book is by a person who's clearly a sensible man and who's trying to tell it like it is. No ego trips. Just a solid citizen who's been 'out' a thousand times now and wants to pass his experiences to others." —The Last Whole Earth Catalog

Body-Soul-Spirit by Joel T. Klein Pdf

Body-Soul-Spirit explores the relationship between these components of life, their interaction, independence and interdependence. These are the most important queries which have occupied the human mind throughout the history of the species. The renewed interest in the relationship of the soul, body and spirit in our contemporary life suggests a widening trend to view the three as an inseparable unit. The resulting findings are the foundation of holistic therapeutic practice, which treats the human being as a whole. The author believes this material is timely and relevant to present-day medical thinking, teaching and healing processes. The Body-Soul-Brain-Mind-Spirit interaction is a frequent topic for the popular and secular press, magazines, newspapers, lecturers, healers and the religious faithful. Major medical schools have introduced courses on spirituality and holistic practices. The general public in ever-growing numbers seeks alternate approaches to health outside of medical and pharmaceutical interventions. In an unprecedented unique way, the author explores the relationship between body, soul, mind, spirit and intellect in mythology, philosophy, science and practice through a collection of dialogues, in poetry and prose. His analysis concludes that all these elements of humans perform as a unified, integrated system.

Body and Soul by Susan Scott Pdf

Body & Soul: Stories for Skeptics and Seekers is a spiritual journey through experiences that can be liberating but also awkward and sometimes even dangerous, because women are so often excluded from conversations about spirituality. Liberation comes with breaking that age-old code of silence to talk about the messiness of faith, practice, religion and ceremony, to confess our sublimely unconventional modes of spiritual yearning. The writers in this volume, including Sharon Bala, Carleigh Baker, Eufemia Fantetti, Sue Goyette, K.D. Miller, Zarqa Nawaz, Alison Pick, Sigal Samuel, Ayelet Tsabari, Betsy Warland and others, many from marginalized or misunderstood communities, are speaking out so that others will speak up. Enough of fear. Enough of hiding out, tongue-tied. It's time for joy, humanity and frankness. It's time to step up and lead--not by running after answers, but by asking caring, daring questions. It's time for body and soul.

Ocean by Ali Rahimbakhsh Pdf

There is a part of the book that involves biography and my researches about the spirit. From childhood, by the permission of the Lord of the worlds, an endowment has been given to me that without voluntary will, the soul gets separated from my body. I who was only a child, with the thanks of God and the help of pure souls and after rather a long time, I was able to make this act voluntary and perform it completely. Regarding the fact that the psychology science and paranormal science include many sciences, gradually I found out some cases that include connection to souls, characteristics, and attentions related to them. I always want to share the beautiful, lovely and valuable evolving experiences of human to other people to participate all with infinite love to God in the joy of its conduction. I believe that the world after death exists doubtlessly and with the practices of this book the power of body and soul concentration can be nurtured and besides doing soul OBE, the soul can travel to unimaginable places by other ways which named mental travels. If the body has five physical/materialist senses, the spirit has numerous senses and traits. Among them, we can refer to moving objects from distance, transmission of love and kindness and healing through spiritual halo and record of all events of life in soul browser and visibility of world by any part of the soul. Therefore, my main request of writing this book and other books is to transfer my more than fifty-year experiences to other people by this way whom I love them with heart and soul and make them pleasure and cheerful.
