Blind Watchers of the Sky by Edward W. Kolb,Rocky Kolb Pdf

How do we know that the earth travels around the sun, the universe is billions of years old, and stars are trillions of miles away? Rocky Kolb tells the fascinating story of the people and ideas that have brought us such knowledge of our planet and the universe, giving realistic portraits of astronomers like Tycho, Kepler, Galileo, Herschel and Hubble. Beginning in 1572 with Tycho's discovery that the heavens can change and ending with the Big Bang of the 20th Century, this is a hugely entertaining and witty account of the quest to discover the universe.

The Watcher of the Night Sky by R. Pudsey Pdf

Fifteen-year-old Abigail Crumble never really enjoyed talking about love and marriage and other such nonsense - no matter how often her boy obsessed best friend pestered her to do so. Yet, on the eve of her sixteenth birthday, after being tormented and belittled by some ill-mannered boys, Abigail makes the biggest, most contradictory mistake of her life. Abigail soon finds her simple life in disarray as princes, men and mysterious creatures come to her door, each adamantly in love with her and refusing to leave her side. Not only does she discover that she is cursed but also revealed is one of the biggest secrets that her parents had long decided to conceal from her. Mixing fantasy, humour, and romance, The Watcher of the Night Sky tells of one girl's journey to rid herself of a curse that was definitely more than she wished for.

Watchers of the Sky by Alfred Noyes Pdf

Alfred Noyes (1880-1958) was an English poet and author of The Highwayman and The Barrel Organ. Noyes began The Watchers of the Sky one evening when he had the unforgettable experience of being on a summit of the Sierra Madre Mountains, when the first trial was made of the100-inch telescope. The poem talks of Copernicus, Tycho Brahe, Kepler, Galileo, Newton, William Herschel and Sir John Herschel. Noyse's poem is unique in that he writes of fact and not fiction. Gobekli Tepe: Genesis of the Gods by Andrew Collins Pdf

An exploration of the megalithic complex at Göbekli Tepe, who built it, and how it gave rise to legends regarding the foundations of civilization • Details the layout, architecture, and exquisite carvings at Göbekli Tepe • Explores how it was built as a reaction to a global cataclysm • Explains that it was the Watchers of the Book of Enoch and the Anunnaki gods of Sumerian tradition who created it • Reveals the location of the remains of the Garden of Eden in the same region Built at the end of the last ice age, the mysterious stone temple complex of Göbekli Tepe in Turkey is one of the greatest challenges to 21st century archaeology. As much as 7,000 years older than the Great Pyramid and Stonehenge, its strange buildings and rings of T-shaped monoliths--built with stones weighing from 10 to 15 tons--show a level of sophistication and artistic achievement unmatched until the rise of the great civilizations of the ancient world, Sumer, Egypt, and Babylon. Chronicling his travels to Göbekli Tepe and surrounding sites, Andrew Collins details the layout, architecture, and exquisite relief carvings of ice age animals and human forms found at this 12,000-year-old megalithic complex, now recognized as the oldest stone architecture in the world. He explores how it was built as a reaction to a global cataclysm--the Great Flood in the Bible--and explains how it served as a gateway and map to the sky-world, the place of first creation, reached via a bright star in the constellation of Cygnus. He reveals those behind its construction as the Watchers of the Book of Enoch and the Anunnaki gods of Sumerian tradition. Unveiling Göbekli Tepe’s foundational role in the rise of civilization, Collins shows how it is connected to humanity’s creation in the Garden of Eden and the secrets Adam passed to his son Seth, the founder of an angelic race called the Sethites. In his search for Adam’s legendary Cave of Treasures, the author discovers the Garden of Eden and the remains of the Tree of Life--in the same sacred region where Göbekli Tepe is being uncovered today.

Totally Unofficial by Dan Eshet Pdf

This case study highlighting the story of Raphael Lemkin challenges everyone to think deeply about what it will take for individuals, groups, and nations to take up Lemkin's challenge. To make this material accessible for classrooms, this resource includes several components: an introduction by Genocide scholar Omer Bartov; a historical case study on Lemkin and his legacy; questions for student reflection; suggested resources; a series of lesson plans using the case study; and a selection of primary source documents. Born in 1900, Raphael Lemkin, devoted most of his life to a single goal: making the world understand and recognize a crime so horrific that there was not even a word for it. Lemkin took a step toward his goal in 1944 when he coined the word "genocide" which means the destruction of a nation or an ethnic group. He said he had created the word by combining the ancient Greek word "genos" (race, tribe) and the Latin "cide" (killing). In 1948, three years after the concentration camps of World War ii had been closed forever, the newly formed United Nations used this new word in a treaty that was intended to prevent any future genocides. Lemkin died a decade later. He had lived long enough to see his word widely accepted and also to see the United Nations treaty, called the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide adopted by many nations. But, sadly, recent history reminds everyone that laws and treaties are not enough to prevent genocide. Individual sections contain footnotes.
