Growth! Enlightenment of the Soul by Rainier Pdf

He chose the path of the Ronin, the masterless warrior. He picked up not his sword, only the pieces of a broken heart. Slowly, he set out on a mission to gently put back the pieces, Seeing how each piece fits by looking in life's way. He learnt to sing with the birds; he ran with the wolves, Flying with the eagles; he won the battle with the devil. Driven by events in life, Rainier travelled the expanse of Australia as a young man, aimlessly riding in the wind without a set destination or schedule. After his journey of many years concluded, Rainier returned home to build a foundation, reflect on life's meaning, and poetically express his related thoughts and feelings. In a second volume of diverse verse, Rainier shares poems that provide further insight into his life experiences, lessons learned, and inspired thoughts. Through his candid reflections, Rainier provides a lyrical glimpse into his continued search for emotional fulfillment and growth through life experiences that expose the polarities of emotions such as joy and sorrow, success and failure, the elation of love and the pain of loss, the smiles of contentment and tears of emptiness. Growth! Enlightenment of the Soul is a collection of poems that share an introspective analysis of one man’s life experiences as he grows and develops an appreciation of life, the grandest of gifts ever bestowed upon us.

Monet, Narcissus, and Self-Reflection by Steven Zalman Levine Pdf

Steven Z. Levine provides a new understanding of the life and work of Claude Monet and the myth of the modern artist. Levine analyzes the extensive critical reception of Monet and the artist's own prolific writings in the context of the story of Narcissus, popular in late nineteenth-century France. Through a careful blending of psychoanalytical theory and historical study, Levine identifies narcissism and obsession as driving forces in Monet's art and demonstrates how we derive meaning from the accumulated verbal responses to an artist's work.

In the Light of Contradiction by RobertaAnn Quance Pdf

In 1926, as a young man of 28 with a growing reputation as an oral poet, Federico Garcia Lorca (1898-1936) toyed with the idea of proving his worth in writing by bringing out a boxed set of three volumes of his verse. Because the Suites , Canciones , and the Poema del cante jondo eventually came out singly (in the case of the Suites , posthumously), readers have not always realised that they formed a single body of work -- one which, Lorca himself was surprised to note, has 'una rarisima unidad', an odd unity of aims and accomplishment. This is poetry which takes up the question of desire in progressively depersonalizing ways, and shows modernism coming into being. Through renunciation, by cutting away the personal and the taboo, Lorca created a poetry that, like no other in Europe, stood between the avant-garde and oral traditions, making their contradictions his truth. Roberta Ann Quance is Senior Lecturer in Spanish at Queen's University, Belfast.

The Poetics of Reverie by Gaston Bachelard Pdf

In this, his last significant work, an admired French philosopher provides extraordinary meditations on the relations between the imagining consciousness and the world, positing the notion of reverie as its most dynamic point of reference. In his earlier book, The Poetics of Space, Bachelard considered several kinds of "praiseworthy space" conducive to the flow of poetic imagery. In Poetics of Reverie he considers the absolute origins of that imagery: language, sexuality, childhood, the Cartesian ego, and the universe. Approaching the psychology of wonder from the phenomenological viewpoint, Bachelard demonstrates the aurgentative potential of all that awareness. Thus he distinguishes what is merely a phenomenon of relaxation from the kind of reverie which "poetry puts on the right track, the track of expanding consciousness"

Organising Poetry by David Fairer Pdf

Writing their early poetry during the 1790s, a decade of European revolution, Coleridge, Wordsworth and their friends have always been thought of as 'the First-Generation Romantics'. This book challenges that concept by viewing them from an entirely new perspective as poets who were continuing an eighteenth-century 'organic' tradition.

Love Poetry in the Spanish Golden Age by Isabel Torres Pdf

Love poetry in the Spanish Golden Age redefines the lyric poetry that is located at the centre of Imperial Spanish culture's own self-image and self-definition. This work engages with a broader evaluation of early modern poetics that foregrounds the processes rather than the products of thinking. The locus of the study is the Imperial 'home' space, where love poetry meets early modern empire at the inception of a very conflicted national consciousness, and where the vernacular language, Castilian, emerges in the encounter as a strategic site of national and imperial identity. The political is, therefore, a pervasive presence, teased out where relevant in recognition of the poet's sensitivity to the ideologies within which writing comes into being. But the primary commitment of the book is to lyric poetry, and to poets, individually and intheir dynamic interconnectedness. Moving beyond a re-evaluation of critical responses to four major poets of the period (Garcilaso de la Vega, Herrera, Góngora and Quevedo), this study disengages respectfully with the substantialbody of biographical research that continues to impact upon our understanding of the genre, and renegotiates the Foucauldian concept of the 'epistemic break', often associated with the anti-mimetic impulses of the Baroque. This more flexible model accommodates the multiperspectivism that interrogated Imperial ideology even in the earliest sixteenth-century poetry, and allows for the exploration of new horizons in interpretation. Isabel Torres isProfessor of Spanish Golden Age Literature and Head of Spanish and Portuguese Studies at Queen's University, Belfast.
