Western Australia and Its Welfare by Albert F. Calvert Pdf
Excerpt from Western Australia and Its Welfare: A Reproduction of Articles Which Have Appeared in the West Australian Review, 1893 1894 Many of the readers of the West Australian Review may not be aware that it started its career under the title of Calvert's West Australian Mining Register in September, 1893. For some years I had taken a very deep interest in the mineral resources of the colony, and had written a few books upon this and kindred subjects. Encouraged by the favourable notices which my efforts called forth, and foreseeing that the gold fields were destined at a very early date to proclaim their great importance to the investing public, I resolved to depart from the ordinary traditions of journalism and issue a weekly paper devoted exclusively to the discussion of Western Australian topics. The colony being so distant, so obscure, and so utterly unfamiliar to the large majority of English readers, it was pointed out to me that such a paper, published in London, could not hope to succeed. Even the larger and more important Australian colonies were content with one journal, which represented their interests collectively; it was not therefore to be supposed that a West Australian organ, pure and simple, would meet with adequate acceptance or encouragement. The Constitution of Western Australia by Alan Fenna,Sarah Murray Pdf
This book provides the first comprehensive introduction to, and enquiry into, the rules of Western Australia’s (WA) system of government. The WA Constitution is not well known or understood ― or even easy to identify ― and this book provides an essential guide. It brings academic expertise and careful scholarship to the exploration of sometimes complex constitutional issues in a way that will be invaluable for those with specialist interest in constitutional law and government while also being engaging and accessible for a wider audience. In doing so, it combines authorial expertise from constitutional law and political science — something essential to a well-rounded understanding of the simultaneously legal and political nature of a Constitution.
