What is God's Mission in the World and How Do We Join It? by Juan Francisco Martinez,Jamie Pitts Pdf

What does God’s mission look like? Who is supposed to carry it out—and how? Juan F. Martínez and Jamie Pitts lead us on an inquiry into God’s mission in the world: what it is, what it is not, and who is invited to be part of it. If Jesus is truly God’s mission incarnate, we need to look at what Jesus did and how he did it. Martínez helps readers understand what mission means, why Christians in the past have made missteps, and how we can learn from Christian communities that are spreading the good news of Jesus today. Doing mission in the way of Jesus may look different from what many assume, but it is a call that the church cannot afford to miss.

Cruciform Scripture by Christopher W. Skinner,Nijay K. Gupta,Andy Johnson,Drew J. Strait Pdf

What does it mean to participate in the cruciform Lord Jesus Christ so that our life together becomes a living exegesis of the gospel? Michael Gorman has been tremendously influential in exploring this question within the New Testament, particularly in the letters of Paul, the Gospel of John, and the book of Revelation. His 2001 book Cruciformity: Paul’s Narrative Spirituality of the Cross inspired a generation of scholars and was the first in a trilogy of New Testament theology devoted to exploring the role of the cross, participation in Christ, and becoming the gospel in mission. Here, an assemblage of some of the best and brightest current New Testament exegetes honor Gorman’s work with contributions of their own, each of which further explores these three critical themes in various passages of the New Testament. Cruciform Scripture is more than a tribute to a giant of biblical scholarship. Its contributors (including N. T. Wright, Sylvia Keesmaat, and Richard Hays) are masters in their own right who offer incisive interpretations of essential themes of New Testament theology and the core concerns of Christian life in community. As they reason together in this volume, they amplify one another’s voices as well as Gorman’s, modeling a way that careful reflection on Paul’s determination to “know nothing . . . except Jesus Christ and him crucified” can engender fruitful insights on the nature of discipleship. Contributors Ben C. Blackwell, Sherri Brown, Frank E. Dicken, Dennis R. Edwards, Rebekah Eklund, Dean Flemming, Patricia Fosarelli, Stephen E. Fowl, Nijay K. Gupta, Richard B. Hays, Andy Johnson, Sylvia C. Keesmaat, Brent Laytham, Christopher W. Skinner, Klyne R. Snodgrass, Drew J. Strait, and N. T. Wright.

Pilgrim: The Beatitudes by Steven Croft,Stephen Cottrell,Paula Gooder,Robert Atwell Pdf

Pilgrim is a major new teaching and discipleship resource from the Church of England. It will help enquirers and new Christians explore what it means to travel through life with Jesus Christ. A Christian course for the twenty-first century, Pilgrim offers an approach of participation, not persuasion. Enquirers are encouraged to practice the ancient disciplines of biblical reflection and prayer, exploring key texts that have helped people since the earliest days of the Christian faith. Believing that the Christian faith is primarily about relationship, Pilgrim aims to lay a foundation for a lifetime of learning more about God’s love revealed in Jesus Christ and what it means to be his disciple. Assuming little or no knowledge of the Christian faith, Pilgrim can be used at any point on the journey of discipleship and by every tradition in the Church of England. Pilgrim is made up of two parts: Follow and Grow. Each consists of four short courses and a leaders’ guide. Follow introduces the Christian faith for complete beginners, while Grow aims to develop a deeper level of discipleship in those who have turned to Christ. Each short course contains six-sessions, supported by online audio-visual resources. All sessions combine a simple framework prayer, reflection on the Bible in the lectio divina style, an article by a modern writer, and time for questions and reflection. This fourth book in the Follow Stage, The Beatitudes explores the Christian vision for the world, including openness to God, thirsting for what is right, peace making and living as citizens of God’s Kingdom. Contributors include John Inge, Helen Ann Hartley, Emma Ineson, and Martin Warner.

Pilgrim - The Beatitudes by Stephen Cottrell,Steven Croft,Paula Gooder,Robert Atwell,Sharon Ely Pearson Pdf

Pilgrim is a teaching and discipleship resource that helps inquirers and new Christians explore what it means to travel through life with Christ. A Christian course for the twenty-first century, Pilgrim offers an approach of participation, not persuasion. Following the practice of the ancient disciplines of biblical reflection and prayer with quotes from the Christian tradition throughout the ages, Pilgrim assumes little or no knowledge of the Christian faith. Individuals or small groups on the journey of discipleship in the Episcopal tradition can use Pilgrim at any point. There are many different aspects to helping people learn about the Christian faith. We have taken as our starting point Jesus’ summary of the commandments. We are called to offer our lives to God through loving God with all our mind, soul, strength, and heart, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. Learning about Christian faith and growing in Christian faith is about more than what we believe. It’s also about the ways in which we pray and develop our relationship with God, about the way we live our lives and about living in God’s vision for the Church and for the world. Course 4. The Beatitudes: A short but profoundly beautiful and influential collection of sayings by Jesus. They sum up his teaching about what it means to live as a child of God’s kingdom. The authors of this course believe that following Jesus requires us to engage with this important text, so that it is restored to a central place in the life of the Church. We believe that the Beatitudes, and trying to live them out, is one of the best ways of loving God with all your heart and understanding the Christian vision for the world.

The Kingdom Citizen by Dr. Ope Banwo Pdf

The Kingdom Citizen: Understanding the Dominion, the Character, the Passion and the Power of the Citizen of Kingdom of God. To quote a favorite saying of some of the leading authorities on the subject of Purpose and Destiny: ‘where the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable.’ For months after I became born-again I felt somehow incomplete. The bliss I was promised was not there and I was too much of a self realist to pretend to myself or anybody else for that matter that everything was all right. My limited experience in the world of born-again believers up to that time has been limited to leading me to Christ and the eternal salvation of my soul. However, once I found Christ, nobody told me what I am supposed to do here on earth, other than living holy and ‘guarding’ my salvation with fear and trembling, before I will finally receive the keys to my mansion in heaven when I die.

Behold The Kingdom by Crosbie Barnes Pdf

A study that attempts to remove the fog surrounding our perception of God's Kingdom. It may be a source for some new ideas and revelation challenging those commonly held about the Kingdom and attempting to set the foundation for how we should view God's Kingdom. It looks at how the coming of the King impacts the world and its people in every generation, revealing an invitation to take our rightful place in His Kingdom. It examines the mechanics and the dynamics of our inclusion into the Kingdom, and how it is expressed within His creation. We examine its nature as it emerges in the lives of individuals who embrace the King. And, finally, it looks at the structure, role and intrinsic values of the Church in the context of God's Kingdom.

The Kingdom of God Among Muslims by Dr. Nazir M. Gill Pdf

Evangelism is always diffi cult among other religions particularly among Muslims anywhere in the world. It is more problematic in the Muslim countries rather than the west, because Muslim countries have laws to promote Islamic education and protect from other religions. There are fi fty two countries called Muslim countries in the world. Evangelism among Muslims in those countries is always abandoned, in other words legally not allowed in the marketplace or other public places to share their faith among Muslims. There are some countries have introduced Sharia laws to run their government affairs because in Islam politics and religion goes hand in hand. This is called Islamilization in Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and most other middle east countries. Sometimes Christian missionaries, evangelists, educators, and local Christian pastors do engage in evangelization or debates to share their faith with mutual understanding among Muslims. Often however, the result becomes a disaster, missionaries, evangelists, educators, and local pastors are killed due to the twisted ideology of some uneducated Muslim Imams. Christian people are a local national minority in those Muslim countries. It is sad to say that whenever American politicians introduce new policies in the world, the Muslim countries somehow take American interests against Islam. The Muslim religious leaders propagate American policies against Muslims. The reaction against those policies strikes violent riots against Christianity. The targets are local churches, schools, hospitals, and academic institutions for their rage and anger. Often these institutions are burned or destroyed because of the lack of knowledge.
