White Light Dark Night by Lucien Gregoire Pdf

The only existing biography of the 33 Day Pope. It is the record of his struggles as an impoverished child, as a revolutionary priest, as an outspoken bishop, as a compassionate cardinal and as a beloved pope. It is the record of his philosophies, and of his hopes, and of his dreams, for mankind. For twenty years as a bishop, he was a rampaging locomotive running about the courts and Parliament of Italy demanding equal rights for oppressed peoples. In 1967, faced by an orphan population of two million in Italy, it was his lobbying in Italian Parliament that made it legal for single persons to adopt children. An opposition member challenged, "That would make it legal for homosexuals to adopt children," Bishop Luciani, responded, "Until the day comes that we can guarantee equal human rights and dignity to the tiniest minority, we cannot truthfully call ourselves a democracy." His intentions concerning bastards, women, homosexuals, etc. was quite evident in his acceptance speech, ". . . we must rise up the courage within us to set aside the convictions of our forefathers and together we will muster the strength to lift those restraints that have been unfairly placed by doctrine upon the everyday lives of many innocent people . . . for God-given human life is infinitely more precious than is man-made doctrine . . ." On the evening of September 26, 1978, he called together the Vatican cardinals. He told them "The Church's ban on contraception is the driving force behind disease, poverty and starvation in third world countries and abortions in first world countries." . . .He told them one thing more. "Mother Church is about to cease to be the cause of many of the world's problems and rather will begin to be the answer to them."

Gordon B. White is Creating Haunting Weird Horror(s) by Gordon B. White Pdf

From Gordon B. White, finalist for the Shirley Jackson and Bram Stoker Awards, come fifteen tales of evocative prose and unparalleled imagination. From spirit-possessed postcards in the award-nominated title story to the eco-terror of “Dandelion Six” and riot-fueled nightmare of “One of the Good Ones,” the armed invasion of a deity’s corpse in “Godhead” and a drink with the damned in “Devil Take Me,” these stories are haunted by weird ghosts and contemporary horrors. “These are stunning and provocative stories, full of surprises.” —Brian Everson, author of The Glassy Burning Floor of Hell “Gordon B. White is in a genre-genus by himself, unclassifiable, breathtaking and beautiful all at once.” —Clay McLeod Chapman, author of Ghost Eaters “Absolutely one of my favorite horror authors working today; I’ll read whatever he writes.” —Keith Rosson, author of Fever House

Morlocks in the Basement by Carolyn Colburn Pdf

Morlocks in the Basement is an irreverent, bittersweet, often outrageous chronicle of accidental motherhood in the age of fractured families. Love story, soap opera, play-by-play of a train wreck, Carolyn Colburn's debut memoir is not quite like anything you've read before. It's a treatise on housekeeping, a primer for roller skating on acid to Canada and back, a how-to for dodging calls from the county jail concerning “an incarcerated loved one,” your daughter. Throw in a cabin in the woods, the howling of wolves, a flying pig, and a couple of incongruous recipes, and you have the ingredients for this riotous odyssey of a memoir. The little voice in your head might be muttering wtf?!?, but you keep hanging on to find out what's coming next.Written with humor and pathos in equal measure, Morlocks in the Basement takes the reader on a hilarious and heartrending ride from a 1950s childhood through the mid 2010s, in a series of connected stories that jump around in time. Part Chelsea Handler, part Erma Bombeck, part nail-biting outlier crouched behind the furnace taking notes, Morlocks in the Basement is a read you won't soon forget.

Bogota Backscatter by Frank Stephenson Pdf

"Bogota Backscatter" is a sequel to the first work of historic fiction entitled "An Unlikely Journey" and, like the first novel, depicts one mans struggle with the U.S. Governments hidden agenda(s) and the ongoing struggle within himself to find his place in life. Fred Sager, a Ph.D. geologist assigned to the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, travels to Bogota to assist the local scientists interpretation of the horrendous January 1999 earthquakes. In no time, he also finds himself attracted to a Chinese lady, also a geologist, and also there on temporary assignment. But is she really there to help her geology brethern, or does she lead a dual life? The following is a brief excerpt from the book: He looked at Adolph and asked, Did you understand any of that gobbledygook? Yes, it was quite well articulated, in fact. Adolph replied, his somber expression lighting up with a smile and I assumed he had decided to pay attention to what was being said after his last lapse of concentration. Even though Fred isnt a petroleum geologist, most of us learn the basics of that branch of the discipline in undergraduate school. Fred is good that way; he retains everything except what he had for breakfast, or where he put his car keys. Sounded like doubletalk to me, Tweedledum mumbled, so what exactly are you saying then, that Okradana geologists are mistaken about the location of a rather large deposit of oil? That theyre looking in the wrong spot? Thats a distinct possibility. I said. He failed to answer. Ill bet both of these yo-yos are attorneys, theyre sure as hell not geologists. How do we know youre not lying? Intentionally trying to throw us off the track? Causing us to delay operations, screwing us around? Tweedledum demanded, his voice becoming a bit hoarse and raspy now. You dont know. I replied, with a modicum of self-satisfaction in my intonation. Youll have to take my word for it. If youre lying, would you say youre lying? He asked. No, I wouldnt. If I were lying, I wouldnt tell you I was lying, that would defeat the purpose of lying in the first place. I said. Where should they be drilling? Where is this oil reserve? He asked. I dont know. I said. Does this Chinese gal know? He asked. Do I know if she knows? I replied. If she knows would you tell me? If she said I that could tell you, yes. I said. And if she said that you couldnt? He barked. Then I would say that I didnt know. As youre saying right now. Well, at least youre truthful. He replied, scratching his head and pacing nervously about in front of Adolphs desk. From the expression on Adolphs face, I could see that Tweedledums response had him baffled. I try. I said, again studying the quizzical look on Adolphs wrinkled face. Even when you lie you seem to be truthful. Tweedledum said, Wait a minute, were talking in circles here. Did you know that the ancient Egyptians didnt like pigs? I asked, trying one last time to break his spirit. Otherwise, they couldve invented ham. Dr. Sager, how about some straight answers to our questions? Feigning his frustrations now, trying to conceal the fact that he knew that I knew that he was playing a game he was supposed to better at than me.

Frank by Tim Owen Pdf

Not everybody gets to have super powers. But then again, not everybody discovers a voodoo doll stashed away at the top of their cupboard. And even the few who do discover a voodoo doll stashed away at the top of their cupboard probably never stop to wonder what would happen if they put their own name into it. I mean, thats just insane, isnt it? Like running with scissors or poking a sleeping bear. Steven is not an irresponsible boy and is, in fact, vehemently opposed to poking bears, sleeping or otherwise. In his defense, how was he to know it was a voodoo doll? He thought it was just a very awesome action figure with a pink pin stuck in its chest and the name Kyle Moorehouse wedged into its back. Curiously though, Kyle Moorehouse was the previous owner of this house and, even more curiously, was also the person who had been found dead on the kitchen floor. Coincidence? Or murder? Steven may just have poked the bear without even knowing it.
