Where did all the good people go? by Eric Pitt Pdf

Would it not put fear in your heart to know you could only talk to your mother or father through an interpreter? Wrong is wrong, and right is right! Most of us are guilty of wrong, but our story is not over. Some can walk upright and praise his name but still be sick in the spirit. I can only imagine the fear of knowing you can only talk to the Creator through an interpreter. I could not bring myself to bear witness to such an atrocity. Though I must admit, if that is what helps you to understand the blessings of heaven, then so be it. Love is love, no matter the language, and so shall hate be the same. No. It’s truly hard for them to see tomorrow’s sun shining through. They know at any moment the raft of Christ shall return. They must get as many soldiers as possible to fight for these times. They are strong enough to say it is a brighter tomorrow, but we are reaching because we live in dark times. They are quick to tell those they seek to bring to Christ that you must remain steadfast; we can only help you by doing things our way, with prayer. We all know they weren’t always at this point where Christ’s soldiers worship them and bless them with cars and expensive jewelry. It took time and work for them to receive all these gifts from people. What reason does a man of God have to give the blessings he or she receives back to the people of God? They earned those treasures by speaking God’s word. No; we all get it and accept it. The silence has nuzzled its way in with torture that can only be described from aggregated accounts, such as the sodomy of a child, blatant discriminatory acts, as well as the need to legally facilitate poverty in the streets of God-blessed America. We do understand the need for pertinent obligations overseas; for a senator’s pay increase, not to mention vacation; for prior commitments; or even for good old-fashioned threats to the solvency of our nation.

The Chairs Are Where the People Go by Misha Glouberman,Sheila Heti Pdf

Should neighborhoods change? Is wearing a suit a good way to quit smoking? Why do people think that if you do one thing, you're against something else? Is monogamy a trick? Why isn't making the city more fun for you and your friends a super-noble political goal? Why does a computer last only three years? How often should you see your parents? How should we behave at parties? Is marriage getting easier? What can spam tell us about the world? Misha Glouberman's friend and collaborator, Sheila Heti, wanted her next book to be a compilation of everything Misha knew. Together, they made a list of subjects. As Misha talked, Sheila typed. He talked about games, relationships, cities, negotiation, improvisation, Casablanca, conferences, and making friends. His subjects ranged from the sublime to the ridiculous. But sometimes what had seemed trivial began to seem important—and what had seemed important began to seem less so. The Chairs Are Where the People Go is refreshing, appealing, and kind of profound. It's a self-help book for people who don't feel they need help, and a how-to book that urges you to do things you don't really need to do.

Let My People Go! by Phoebe Chifungo Pdf

"Let My people go and serve Me regardless of sex" is the ultimate appeal from God. Unfortunately, some cultural practices and wrong interpretations of the Bible have excluded some, especially women, from attaining key leadership roles. Culturally, women are considered second class and men's property, source of evil and "weaker vessels." A wrong interpretation of the scriptures has sidelined women from obtaining decision making positions. This is the result of what may be called, "a One-Dimensional Approach," and a recommendation is made to "re-read" the biblical texts as well as Chewa culture and the history of the synod with a "Multi-Dimensional Approach" in which the literary, theological-rhetorical and historical-cultural aspects are all considered, because this approach liberates the oppressed and the marginalized.

Let My People Go! by Robert J. Walker Pdf

Perhaps the most extensive book to date ever written on the Montgomery Bus Boycott, Let My People Go! may prove to be the encyclopedia of this pivotal event in American history. While other books written on the boycott primarily focus on the point of view of one key leader, this book discusses the boycott from several viewpoints and takes the reader on an historical journey through time, illustrating how God consistently intervened in the course of history to free His people from the evils of human injustice. Although historically based, this book is mostly inspirational, in that readers will feel inspired to activism. This work serves, in particular, to remind readers that the same God who delivered 50,000 African-American citizens of Montgomery out of the bondage of Jim Crow, is still in the business of delivering His people out of any circumstances. God still speaks to the forces of evil by willing, "Let My People Go!"

Let My People Go by Patricia C. McKissack,Fredrick L. McKissack Pdf

"Come join me as I take you back to Charleston, South Carolina, to my father's forge in the early 1800's. Sit with me on the woodpile as he tells a tale of faith, hope, or love." In this extraordinary collection, Charlotte Jefferies and her father Price, a former slave, introduce us to twelve best loved Bible tales, from Genesis to Daniel, and reveal their significance in the lives of African Americans--and indeed of all oppressed peoples. When Charlotte wants to understand the cruel injustices of her time, she turns to her father. Does the powerful slaveholder, Mr. Sam Riley, who seems to own all that surrounds them, also own the sun and moon? she wonders. Price's answer is to tell the story of Creation. How can God allow an evil like slavery to exist? she asks. Price responds by telling the story of the Hebrews' Exodus -- and shows Charlotte that someday their people, too, will be free. With exquisite clarity, Patricia and Fredrick McKissack and James Ransome -- a Newbery Honor winner and all Coretta Scott King Award winners -- brilliantly illuminate the parallels between the stories of the Jews and African-American history. Let My People Go is a triumphant celebration of both the human spirit and the enduring power of story as a source of strength. Our hope is that this book will be like a lighthouse that can guide young readers through good times and bad....The ideas that these ancient stories hold are not for one people, at one time, in one place. They are for all of us, for all times, everywhere. --from the Authors' Note to Let My People Go

Where the People Go by John D. Roth Pdf

A barn raising. A quilting bee. A credit union. A socially responsible investment. Where the People Go tells the story of Anabaptist-Mennonite efforts to enable communal forms of sharing. Mutual aid, stewardship, and generosity are deeply embedded in the Christian faith and have been actively nurtured among Anabaptist-Mennonite groups. Spontaneous forms of assistance—a barn raising, a quilting bee, shared meals—are the best-known expressions of such compassion and generosity, but the commitment to “sharing one another’s burdens” has also found expression in more formal structures. Seventy-five years ago, Mennonite Mutual Aid emerged to organize the principle of sharing within a growing Mennonite denomination. A dynamic organization from the beginning, MMA moved quickly from a burial and survivor’s aid plan to include health, property, and automobile insurance. In coming decades, the organization shifted its focus from mutual aid to stewardship and generosity, symbolized by a growing emphasis on socially responsible investment programs, wholistic health, financial planning, and services associated with its member-owned credit union. Always an agency of the Mennonite church, MMA, now known as Everence, has balanced its spiritual commitments with an increasingly complex regulatory environment, the national strains associated with the health-care debate, the shifting sensibilities of its customers, and the organizational complexities of a major corporation. This story of Everence captures the stresses and idealism of a church-related institution committed to mutual aid, stewardship, and generosity during its seventy-five-year history.
