Your Child from One to Six (Classic Reprint) by United States Children'S Bureau Pdf

Excerpt from Your Child From One to Six Child Care - the Preschool Years, as a sequel to Infant Care, which had first been issued in 1914. Completely rewritten in the present edition, this guide represents recent thought on various aspects of the care and development of young children. From centering attention on techniques of child care and training, the leaders in this field have now come to place their main emphasis on the relationships involved in living together in a family. Studies of children's behavior have revealed that parents' attitudes and personalities and the way they feel about their children play a much larger part in a child's healthy development than does any set of rules they may follow in bringing up their children. The present text attempts to show how emotional maturity in parents themselves can bring about the security and affectionate understanding that must underlie sound and creative family relationships. This publication was written by Mrs. Marion L. Faegre, Parent Education Consultant in the Division of Research in Child Development of the Children's Bureau, and Dr. Caroline A. Chandler, a former member of the Division, under the general supervision of Dr. Katherine Bain, Director of that Division. Marjorie Heseltine, Chief of the Bureau's Nutrition Unit, contributed the material on food and nutrition. It has been reviewed and approved by the Pediatric Advisory Committee of the Children's Bureau - Dr. Howard Childs Carpenter, for many years representing the American Child Health Association, now dissolved; Dr. Julius H. Hess, representing the section on diseases of children of the American Medical Association; Dr. Richard M. Smith, representing the American Pediatric Society; and Dr. J. H. Mason Knox, representing the American Academy of Pediatrics. It was reviewed, also, by a number of other specialists in pediatrics, child development, social work, psychology, and psychiatry. To these many persons, all of whom made helpful suggestions, grateful thanks are extended and especially to three persons who reviewed the material in great detail: Dr. C. Anderson Aldrich, Dr. Milton I. Senn, and Dr. George S. Stevenson. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Why Is My Child in Charge? by Claire Lerner Pdf

Solve toddler challenges with eight key mindshifts that will help you parent with clarity, calmness, and self-control. In Why is My Child in Charge?, Claire Lerner shows how making critical mindshifts—seeing children’s behaviors through a new lens —empowers parents to solve their most vexing childrearing challenges. Using real life stories, Lerner unpacks the individualized process she guides parents through to settle common challenges, such as throwing tantrums in public, delaying bedtime for hours, refusing to participate in family mealtimes, and resisting potty training. Lerner then provides readers with a roadmap for how to recognize the root cause of their child’s behavior and how to create and implement an action plan tailored to the unique needs of each child and family. Why is My Child in Charge? is like having a child development specialist in your home. It shows how parents can develop proven, practical strategies that translate into adaptable, happy kids and calm, connected, in-control parents.

Potty Train Your Child in Just One Day by Teri Crane Pdf

Finally...a fun, easy-to-use guide to potty training any child in just ONE DAY Just think, from the time babies are born until they are toilet trained, they use an average of 4,000 diapers! Potty Train Your Child in Just One Day is the helpful guide you've been waiting for to get your child out of diapers and turn the potentially terrifying process of toilet training into an effective and enjoyable bonding experience with your child. Teri guides parents to the successful one-day potty training of their child by teaching them how to: • Look for the signs that your child is ready to be potty trained • Make the potty connection by using a potty-training doll • Create incentive through consistent positive reinforcement • Use charts, quizzes, and checklists to help with every step of potty training • Know when it's time to bring in a potty pinch hitter • Complete your potty training -- no more accidents Once Teri teaches you her techniques, she shares her secret -- potty parties! She has carefully designed twelve imaginative themes for parties, such as a seriously silly circus, a cartoon character carnival, or a magic carpet express, and supplies parents with everything they will need. Teri has proven that a potty party day engages a child in potty training in a way that no other method has before -- by speaking a toddler's language. A party may translate to fun, games, cake, candy, presents, and prizes to a child, but with Teri's expertise, parents can use it as a tool to motivate their child to want to go to the bathroom -- and to keep on going. That's why it works in just one day!
