Love Journey Delhi to Sydney Sukhi is a middle class Sikh, falling in love for the first time. From the moment Neetu smiles at him in the temple during the festival of Diwali, he is smitten. She is beautiful, educated and modern, and in her last year of medical school. She is also a Jat, a land-owning elite of high status. Their sweet, Delhi romance soon develops into a deep love that neither can live without. Sukhi's meeting with Neetu's parents in the north ends with an ultimatum. Sukhi must prove himself worthy of Neetu and he has three years to show he will be able to support her in the style she has been brought up in. Despite his Master's degree, Sukhi cannot see how continuing his father's business in India will ever enable him to accomplish such a change in his living standards, so he makes the decision to move to Australia. Once he arrives in Australia, however, his priorities change. Sukhi becomes Sam and he is quickly seduced by the different lifestyle and enamoured by the casual, open people he meets, especially Sara, the eighteen year old sister of his colleague, Mark. Is Sukhi willing to break Neetu's heart and the promises he made? Is Sukhi prepared to give up Australian life style and the love for Sara? Are Sukhi's Parents willing to accept a new way of life in Australia and give up Neetu for a white Australian girl?

500 AWARD WINNING BUSINESS SECRETS CHECKLIST by Geoff Grist Pdf

This is the revised story of my past real life business, Audio Sound Centre and the strategies I employed which helped my business win the 1997 Telstra Award for the Best Small Business in NSW, category under 10 employees, referred to by many as the Olympic Games Gold Medal of Australian Small Business. Armed with an understanding of my small business secrets, I hope you will go to work on your own small business and improve its current position. Perhaps with enough hard work, you too could win a similar coveted business award in your area. I encourage you to seek out your local awards and enter them. I have written this book from my position as a small business owner. It is written from my real life experiences and is very much an account of “the way I do things.” I have covered both the highs and lows that I experienced in taking my business from its conception through to its sale so hopefully, you will learn something of my struggle and consequently you will profit from my journey. Inside this book, I have detailed my business secrets for you. I would like you to start using them in your own small business—today. Not next week, but today. This is a practical, hands on business guide and checklist developed, tried and tested by me and written from my personal experience, just for you. I have already made the mistakes for you. So please read this book with a highlighter pen in your hand so you can mark your favourite secrets and implement the ideas behind them, right now. Take my ideas and make them your own! You can do it. It’s not easy, but it is possible. When I started my own small business, I read as many books about business as I could get my hands on however most were far from the reality of day to day business life. I did not find a single business book that gave the real perspective I experienced being in a small business of my own.

Farming on the Fringe by Sarah James Pdf

This volume offers a new perspective to debates on local food and urban sustainability presenting the long silenced voices of the small-scale farmers from the productive green fringe of Sydney’s sprawling urban jungle. Providing fresh food for the city and local employment, these culturally and linguistically diverse farmers contribute not only to Sydney’s globalizing demographic and cultural fabric, but also play a critical role in the city’s environmental sustainability. In the battle for urban space housing development threatens to turn these farmlands into sprawling suburbia. In thinking from and with the urban ‘fringe’, this book moves beyond the housing versus farming debate to present a vision for urban growth that is dynamic and alive to the needs of the 21st century city. In a unique bringing together of the twin forces shaping contemporary urbanism - environmental change and global population flows - the voices from the fringe demand to be heard in the debate on future urban food sustainability.

Greek Islander Migration to Australia since the 1950s by Melissa N. Afentoulis Pdf

Illuminating the experiences of immigrants to Australia in the late twentieth century, this book uses oral history to explore how identity and belonging are shaped through migration. Between the 1950s and the 1970s, many inhabitants from the small Greek island of Limnos travelled to Australia to flee post-war devastation and economic disaster. With an emphasis on the lived experiences and memories of Limnians, the book sheds light on the emotional pain and trauma they felt as they were separated from their families and homeland. Moving away from more traditional outlooks on migration studies, this book emphasises the significance of ethno-regional identity, and analyses how it can bring strength and longevity to a constructed community. Both the roles of men and women within the Greek diaspora are examined, in the way that they made the difficult decision to leave their homeland, and subsequently how they came to nurture and build families within a new, evolving community. Looking beyond first-generation migration, the author analyses the pattern of return visits to Limnos by the descendants of migrants. Acting as a form of identity consolidation for second-generation migrants, this journey to the ancestral homeland highlights the fluidity of what it means to belong somewhere, and redefines the notion of ‘home’. The author provides an alternative perspective to traditional migration studies and reaffirms the importance of transnational identity. A unique and important addition to research, this book combines memory studies and oral narrative to analyse how identity and belonging can be shaped across borders, rather than within them.
