Zombat by Carlton Rae Pdf

ZOMBAT begins with the government’s knowledge of world wide but isolated outbreaks of the undead, its classified U.S. military organization, response measures and combat assault unit created to contain them. It will then take you through a scenario for those unprepared when a global epidemic of zombies occurs. The following guidelines for preparing, planning, defense and refuge for an individual or group, will enable you to survive and fight a growing army of the walking dead and describe the social breakdown and chaos that will unfold in part 4’s “The Undead Rise”. The second half of ZOMBAT is the training manual for the seriously minded individual or team who want to learn the combat techniques and tactics for defense, assault and annihilation of the undead.

Blackblood: Acolyte by Phu Vuong Pdf

"Vuong's writing is engaging, and his worldbuilding treads a finely drawn line between recognizable and novel, making this work easily accessible and broadly appealing. Enriquez's vibrant illustrations keep a central point of view in their orderly panels, with a decidedly mangalike feel. . . . A fun, quick read sure to hook fantasy fans." --Kirkus Reviews Told in dual perspectives, this fantastical debut graphic novel with the wit of Nimona and the adventure of Amulet is a whirlwind journey involving mages, mercenaries, escape plans, food fights, and more! Centuries ago, magic mysteriously appeared in the kingdom of Allia. At first, the mages who could wield it became servants to the king, using their newfound powers for the betterment of society. However, an evil group of mages called Blackbloods went rogue, siphoning magic from their peers before they were stopped. But after that, the king imprisoned all mages, Blackblood or not. Years later, mage siblings Kanna and Kita are in hiding, careful to avoid being taken by the King's Guard. Despite the looming threat of imprisonment, Kita dreams of becoming a powerful mage, while Kanna is content living in the shadows. Kita gets the chance to prove himself when bandits invade their camp, only to realize that he lacks control over his magic when they kidnap Kanna. Now Kita, with the help of a mercenary, Toran, must rescue his sister from the dangerous gang, while Kanna tries to find her own way to escape. What do the bandits want with Kanna? And will Kita be able to save his sister without getting found out as a mage?

Jadwiga, Poland’s Great Queen by Charlotte Kellogg,Frank H. Simonds Pdf

HERE is the story of a great love and a great sacrifice and of a queen’s work built on that sacrifice. It takes us back five hundred years, to the brilliant court of that King Louis of Hungary who ruled the half of Europe—the court where his gifted youngest daughter, Jadwiga, grew up. It takes us to Vienna, for Jadwiga was betrothed to the young Crown Prince of Austria. Then to Krakow, early capital of Poland, where Jadwiga was called as queen and where she made her supreme renunciation. Through it and her marriage with the Lithuanian Grand Duke, Jagiello, she brought the last pagan people of Europe into the fold of the Western Church, and raised a barrier against the eastern push of the German soldiers of the Cross, which made possible a Poland stretching from the Baltic to the Black Sea. Thenceforth the union of Poland and Lithuania was known as the “Wedding ring of Jadwiga.” Through darkest days she kept her faith, until she was reverenced throughout Europe for her holiness and admired for her wisdom. Like Joan of Arc in France, she has been in Poland a symbol of national aspiration and a source of national idealism. This book represents years of travel and research and has already been accepted by the Polish historical congress. It is important as history and interesting also as the love story of a great woman.

Against the Draft by Peter Brock Pdf

Around the world and for hundreds of years, men and women have refused to be drafted into bearing arms for their nations' wars. These conscientious objectors to the draft are the subject of Peter Brock's latest collection, Against the Draft. Brock, the world's leading historian on pacifism, has assembled twenty-five of his essays on conscientious objection to the draft from the beginning of the Radical Reformation in 1525 to the end of the Second World War. Included in the collection are essays on little known facets of the anti-draft movement including the Anabaptist-Mennonite tradition of military exemption that started with the outset of the Radical Reformation in 1525 and has continued, with variations, until the present. Further articles deal with the Quakers in a number of countries, Civil-war America, Leo Tolstoy (who became a convinced pacifist in the later part of his life), British conscientious objectors in the Non-Combatant Corps, the emergence of conscientious objection in Japan, and the fate of conscientious objectors in the psychiatric clinics of Germany and in interwar Poland. Essays on the Central European Nazerenes and on Jehovah's Witnesses in Nazi Germany highlight the exceptionally harsh treatment meted out to conscientious objectors belonging to these two sects, and their steadfast resistance to the state's demand to bear arms. Against the Draft makes an important contribution to the growing study of pacifism and conscientious objection, and represents a key work in the career of the field's foremost scholar.
