The Hidayah has dominated the field of Islamic jurisprudence since the day it was written over 800 years ago. It has been the primary text used by Muslims jurist to issue authentic and reliable rulings on Islamic law according to the school of Imam Abu Hanifa (d 150H/767CE). The Hidayah commands such an authoritative position amongst the doctors of law that the knowledge of a scholar who has not read it is not considered reliable. It has been a standard text in the curricula of Islamic law schools since the 12th century. It was first translated into English by Charles Hamilton in 1791. Around 70 huge commentaries, some spread over more than a dozen volumes have been written on it. The number of explanatory glosses is in thousands. Comprehensive in content and conveniently organized, with the publication of this all previous works that discussed Islamic jurisprudence according to the Hanafi law become outmoded and soon fell into disuse. If revealed books are not taken into account, never has a book received so much attention as the Hidayah. This landmark publication of the Hidayah not only has been translated in its entirety for the first time but has been done so from Arabic, the language in which it was written. The author, Shaykh Al Islam, Burhan Al-Din Marghanani (d 593 AH/ 1197 CE) was considered to be the leading jurist of the Muslim world in his times. "The hidayah is justly celebrated as the most practical and useful summary compilation of Hanafi jurisprudence. It has been a standard text in the curricula of Islamic law schools since the 12th century. It was first translated by Charles Hamilton in 1791. Two major elements drove me to shoulder the responsibility of introducing a publication of such as imminent Imam like Ibn Taymiyyah to those who learn Islam from English Literature. The first is the author who, undoubtedly, needs no word that may attempt to crystallize his stance among other jurists, be they of his time or any other generation of place. The second is the subject itself which grasps the interest of the people at any time. As men and women enjoy an equal share as to rights, responsibilities and duties, all of which are best suiting her nature. Since science confirmed that woman is created with so many differences in her biological nature, physical capabilities and mental faculties, it would be unfair to assign her the same responsibilities, duties and rights as man. In other words, there is a difference between similarity and equality. As man and woman are not the same in terms of biological nature, physical capabilities and mental faculties, so they are not the same and it would be injustice to deal with both the same. But to put into consideration this difference of nature is regarded as the core of justice and equality, the methodology adopted by Islam, the religion of the Creator of both man and woman.
Mahnaj al Sālikīn (Path of the Wayfarer) is an elementary text in Fiqh and is primarily based upon the Ḥanbali school of thought. Arabic was among the first languages in which the Gospel was preached. The Book of Acts mentions Arabs as being present at the first Pentecost in Jerusalem, where they heard the Christian message in their native tongue. Christian literature in Arabic is at least 1,300 years old, the oldest surviving texts dating from the 8th century. Pre-modern Arab Christian literature embraces such diverse genres as Arabic translations of the Bible and the Church Fathers, biblical commentaries, lives of the saints, theological and polemical treatises, devotional poetry, philosophy, medicine, and history. Yet in the Western historiography of Christianity, the Arab Christian Middle East is treated only peripherally, if at all.
