Mean Girls at Work: How to Stay Professional When Things Get Personal by Katherine Crowley,Kathi Elster Pdf

One of the New York Post's Top 10 Career Books of 2012 and a Booklist Top 10 Business Book DO YOU WORK WITH A MEAN GIRL? A woman’s field guide to the new frontier of professional development—working with other women Women-to-women relationships in the workplace are . . . complicated. When they’re good, they’re great. But when they’re bad, they can ruin your day, your week—even your year. Packed with proven advice from two of today’s leading experts in workplace relationships, this one-of-a-kind guide gives women the tools they need to navigate difficult situations unique to women-to-women relationships—whether with a boss, a colleague, a client, or an employee. Have you dealt with a woman in the workplace who: “Accidentally” excludes you from important meetings? Seems intent on taking you down professionally? Gossips about you with other coworkers? Makes you look bad by missing deadlines? Forms a “pack” of mean girls to make your life miserable? Mean Girls at Work isn’t just about surviving difficult situations. It’s about transforming a toxic relationship into one that benefits and supports both of you. This book is also for women who engage in mean behavior . . . but don’t know it. After all, who hasn’t gossiped about a female coworker? Who hasn’t rolled her eyes in the presence of a woman she doesn’t like? Who hasn’t scanned another woman head to toe—which is just a nonverbal way of saying, “You’ve just been judged”? The authors provide invaluable advice to the more subtle ways of being mean—even if they’re not intended. With a workforce composed of a higher percentage of women than ever, workplace dynamics have changed. Crowley and Elster cover every conceivable scenario, providing critical advice on how to rise above the fray and move forward professionally. Mean Girls at Work is your map to dodging the mines and moving forward in today’s transformed workplace. Praise for Mean Girls at Work “An invaluable suit of armor for surviving nine to five!” —Leil Lowndes, bestselling author of How to Talk to Anyone “If you think the emotional cruelty of comedies like Mean Girls and Heathers doesn’t exist in the real world workplace, think again. In Mean Girls at Work, Katherine Crowley and Kathi Elster valuably chronicle female vs. female predators and offer solid defensive strategies.” —Ann Kreamer, author of It’s Always Personal: Navigating Emotion in the New Workplace “Whether you are in your twenties and just starting your professional career, your midcareer forties, when you are supposed to have figured it out already, or a woman in her fifties or sixties who’s seen it all—this book is a must-read. . . . The authors have finally given women the tools and the sound advice necessary to deal with . . . conflicts that keep us all from succeeding. . . . Carry this book with you to work every day!” —Carolyn Cassin, President, Michigan Women’s Foundation “A must-read for women of all ages in today’s workforce. This book offers what we all need to develop the capacities to endure this ever-changing workplace. Found Treasures by Linda Clark Pdf

There it is. Something that you found unexpectedly. Your found treasure may not be worth much to anyone but you because of the moment that it changed your life. What you didn’t realize was that God desired to teach you something unexpected about who you are in Him—that is what gives your found treasure value. In Found Treasures, author and teacher Linda Clark graciously guides women through her own personal journey of discovery as she relates the found objects in her life to lessons God led her to discover. Using pictures of her unexpected objects, she helps women see that God may have lessons for them through their own personal treasure hunt. Found Treasures, written with biblical references and an application-based approach, gives women the tools they need to find deeper meaning in their lives as they find out their own worth. A meaning that seeps into every aspect of her life: the skills she offers God, relationships, ministry, and her legacy.

The Two Sides of the Golden Rule by Martha Fehr M.A.,Wes Fehr Ph.D. Pdf

I believe that the Bible teaches assertiveness as the most mature, biblical way of living. In very simple terms, assertiveness is when we say, "Come sit with me. Let's talk about our relationship. What is working for us and what needs to change?" When we are assertive we do not run and hide from relationship difficulties, neither do we demand that things are done our way. Instead, we face the problems head on, and in a calm, but firm manner, we address the issues that need to be resolved. When I have been privileged to help people become assertive, they have not only improved their interpersonal relationships, they have developed a healthier self-esteem, and for people with a faith in God, that relationship has also deepened. Because I have seen such positive changes in the clients I have worked with, I have become passionate about the importance of being assertive. My own relationships have also improved when I have practiced assertiveness. Before I worked as a counselor, I taught school for several years. Later, as a counselor, I wished that someone would design a course on assertiveness that could be used in the classroom. If children would learn the value of assertive behavior early in life, they would struggle less with relationships throughout their lives.

Setting Boundaries® with Food by Allison Bottke Pdf

For the fourth book in her popular Setting BoundariesTM series, Allison Bottke turns to our relationship with food, and a problem that affects more than 200 million Americans (68 percent of the adult population)—obesity. Setting Boundaries® with Food is a very personal book for Allison. She knows from personal experience about the struggle against obesity—feeling trapped in a seemingly never-ending cycle of dieting, deprivation, and despair. At one time in her life, Allison’s scale hit the 300-pound mark. Her overweight status resulted in Allison being the first full-figure model ever signed by the prestigious Wilhelmina modeling agency, where she worked for some of the biggest names in fashion, such as Gloria Vanderbilt and Alfred Angelo. From her struggle, Allison offers more than just hope for the future. By introducing readers to her popular S.A.N.I.T.Y. steps, she encourages readers to turn away from the insanity of dieting and deprivation and to focus instead on establishing healthy relationships with food, self, others, and God. Her words will strike a chord with millions who have struggled for years to lose weight as they are encouraged to examine the emotional and spiritual aspects of their bondage to food and obsession with weight.
