Agape Love by Sir John Templeton Pdf

The tradition of agape, or unconditional love, is not exclusive to any religion. It is a primary underlying principle found in religions worldwide. The concept of altruistic love challenges the spiritual person to "love your enemies" or to "love without thought of return." It is a love that flows out to others through compassion, kindness, tenderness, and charitable giving. Buddhists have a path of compassion, where caring for others becomes the motivating force behind existence. Hindus have a branch of yoga, the heart-centered path, that leads to enlightenment through an overwhelming love for God that takes the form of loving all humanity. Eastern religions, such as Taoism and Confucianism, see transcendent love as essential to true wisdom. Love is a universal theme of love found in all religious traditions, Buddhist, Christian, Islam, or others. As we realize that all religions have this spiritual principle of love at their core, we can develop a sense of shared humanity. The religious tradition of agape love examined in this book will inspire those who are learning to grow in compassion and love for all people.

The Power of Agape Love by Juanita Crawford Pdf

Agape love; what it is and what it is not. Many are unaware of the meaning of the word Agape. Now, more than ever we need a lucid understanding of Agape love. The author speaks on Agape love in relationship to the Word of God (Author of Agape Love) and from perspective of theologians, philosophers, and others. Agape Love, without question is the preeminent love of all. This book denotes the significance of Agape love and ramifications when omitted. The author contends society has eradicated love toward one another while turning to self-gratification resulting in desensitization of individuals and society as a whole. Dr. Crawford encourages readers to return to the authenticator of true Love (God) for retention of salvation and viability of society. "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land (2nd Corinthians 7:14). The Power of Agape Love shares with readers the miraculous love of the One and Only True God Jehovah Yahweh (Exodus 6:3).

The Four Loves by C. S. Lewis Pdf

The Four Loves is a 1960 book by C. S. Lewis which explores the nature of love from a Christian and philosophical perspective through thought experiments. The book was based on a set of radio talks from 1958 which had been criticized in the U.S. at the time for their frankness about sex. C.S. Lewis examines storge or empathy love; philia, friendship love; eros, romantic love; and agape, or God love. Excerpt: "GOD is love," says St. John. When I first tried to write this book I thought that his maxim would provide me with a very plain highroad through the whole subject. I thought I should be able to say that human loves deserved to be called loves at all just in so far as they resembled that Love which is God."

Agape Agape by William Gaddis Pdf

William Gaddis published four novels during his lifetime, immense and complex books that helped inaugurate a new movement in American letters. Now comes his final work of fiction, a subtle, concentrated culmination of his art and ideas. For more than fifty years Gaddis collected notes for a book about the mechanization of the arts, told by way of a social history of the player piano in America. In the years before his death in 1998, he distilled the whole mass into a fiction, a dramatic monologue by an elderly man with a terminal illness. Continuing Gaddis's career-long reflection on those aspects of corporate technological culture that are uniquely destructive of the arts, Agape Agape is a stunning achievement from one of the indisputable masters of postwar American fiction.

The Spirit-Led Leader by Timothy C. Geoffrion Pdf

In our postmodern, experience-oriented culture, people are longing for greater authenticity, integrity, and depth in their pastors and leaders. Board directors, church members, and staff alike are all eagerly seeking leaders who effectively integrate their spirituality and leadership. Pastors and executives, however, often struggle with knowing how to integrate their spiritual values and practices into their leadership and management roles. Designed for pastors, executives, administrators, managers, coordinators, and all who see themselves as leaders and who want to fulfill their God-given purpose, The Spirit-Led Leader addresses the critical fusion of spiritual life and leadership for those who not only want to see results, but who also desire to care just as deeply about who they are and how they lead as they do about what they produce and accomplish. Geoffrion creates a new vision for spiritual leadership as partly an art, partly a result of careful planning, and always a working of the grace of God

The Gift of Goodbye by Rebecca Whitehead Munn Pdf

Have you loved and lost before, yet struggled with how to recover and move forward? Are you looking for inspiration to give you strength to persevere? Have you faced the inevitable eternal rest of a parent, struggled with how to say good-bye? Have you questioned your faith and let fear take over in times of loss? In The Gift of Goodbye, Rebecca Whitehead Munn relates how she drew strength from her faith and optimism as everything she knew to be constant in her life was changing. She inspires readers through her natural writing style to believe that they too can persevere and build resilience through the seasons of loss in life. Rebecca opens her heart on each page as she walks us through her story of living through two major life transitions within a three-year span, and the resulting shift she made in the process—due to the lasting gift of love from her now-deceased mother, her courage, and the choice she made to expand into more of who she was at her core.

One a Day; 30 Days of Spiritual Growth with the Women of the Bible by Nicole Crivello Pdf

Agape love refers to a sacrificial love-intentional desire for another person, a pure and deliberate love that unites and heals. Agape love restores hearts by choice and is selfless faith and commitment. Agape love is Jesus Christ. Through this One a Day, the Lord pressed His agape love on my heart-tell my daughters I love them. As we examine the women God used to reveal Himself and His purpose, I pray you take the time to read one chapter a day. My heart's desire is you draw closer to God and allow Him to open your heart to a deeper understanding of His agape love. In a society where the word love is tossed around, blowing in a shifting wind, God's love is stable, firm, trusting, comforting, encouraging, and powerful. God's love changes us from the inside out with the Holy Spirit and His Word. The One a Day series is a collection of women and their testimonies from the Word of God. These thirty women are amazing matriarchs the Lord pressed on my heart to write- sharing their triumphs, struggles, and trials. My prayer for any woman who reads this series is to know God and have a personal relationship with Him. I pray these women draw you closer, open your heart for a deeper connection, and fill your life with a new found purpose. In these thirty days, you will be encouraged by the Intentional Woman, the Witnessing Woman, and the Hosea 2:14 Woman who was in a season of testing. Mary the Mother of Jesus, Sarah, and Pilate's wife were married women who trusted God, regardless of what those around them professed. The Healed Woman, Apphia, and the Fragrant Woman all expressed the comfort of Christ and His love for His daughters. I know these women will bless you as you discover God's deep, agape love for His children.

The Demonization of God Unmasked by Oswald D. Grant Pdf

A book on the Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. A biblical study of these two trees reveal that the Tree of Life represents God's moral law of unconditional agape love, and that the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil represents a rival law devised by "that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world" (Revelation 12:9). The serpent's moral law is powered by force, through a system of arbitrary reward and punishment.

Godliness and Greed by Skip Worden Pdf

Traditional scholarship often points to the Calvinists and Max Weber's writing on the Protestant ethic as the catalysts to changing Christian attitudes concerning profit-seeking and wealth. Author Skip Worden argues that the seeds of this change occurred centuries earlier. From the beginning of the Commercial Revolution to the fifteenth-century Renaissance, he shows that the predominant Christian thought on economics went through a fundamental shift, becoming favorable toward profit-seeking and wealth-holding. Worden discusses this dramatic change and explains how the general antagonism toward the pursuit of wealth before the Commercial Revolution transformed into Protestant theologians' fighting against the prevailing view of a pro-wealth paradigm during the fifteenth century. Worden contends that the shift away from the Patristic view of wealth occurred well before the addition of the Calvinist spirit of capitalism and the Puritan work ethic into Christian economic vernacular. Drawing on Plato, Cicero, and Augustine, early Protestant theologians unsuccessfully sought to check the rising dominance of the pro-wealth Christian paradigm, which they believed had been pushed too far. These theologians of the sixteenth and seventeenth century felt it was too close to advocating love of gain itself, something too close to the sin of greed. How well the Reformation succeeded can be assessed by Worden's insightful concluding study of John D. Rockefeller, the ascetic steward of God's Gold in the form of monopoly.
