This is a story told through personal journals of a woman going through the seven years prior to the breakup of a severely dysfunctional and abusive relationship in a long time marriage to a psychopath and control freak narcissist. There are four children involved and during this time there are several life events taking place such as the murder of her brother, mother's slow declining health and eventual death from cancer, a major move to another city, long time illness that results in a disability filing after family business is forced to close and loss of long time career, numerous close calls with death for several immediate family members and with herself along with much more of an unbelievable list of stressful situations. This is a first hand account of a struggle to stay sane and alive long enough to get away from a horrible husband and father who enjoys gaslighting and manipulating his family.
Blending fact and fiction, this darkly comic fable “may be the purest distillation yet of Mr. Ma’s talent for probing the country’s darkest corners and exposing what he regards as the Communist Party’s moral failings” (Mike Ives, The New York Times). Called “Red Guards meet Kurt Vonnegut . . . powerful!" by Margaret Atwood on Twitter, China Dream is an unflinching satire of totalitarianism. Ma Daode, a corrupt and lecherous party official, is feeling pleased with himself. He has an impressive office, three properties, and multiple mistresses who text him day and night. After decades of loyal service, he has been appointed director of the China Dream Bureau, charged with replacing people's private dreams with President Xi Jinping's great China Dream of national rejuvenation. But just as he is about to present his plan for a mass golden wedding anniversary celebration, his sanity begins to unravel. Suddenly plagued by flashbacks of the Cultural Revolution, Ma Daode's nightmare visions from the past threaten to destroy his dream of a glorious future. Exposing the damage inflicted on a nation's soul when authoritarian regimes, driven by an insatiable hunger for power, seek to erase memory, rewrite history, and falsify the truth, China Dream is a dystopian vision of repression, violence, and state–imposed amnesia that is set not in the future, but in China today.
Seven years ago, Olivers life started to fall apart. Seven weeks ago, a chance encounter with a twenty-first-century witch seemed to mark a turning point. Change is the only constant. Seven days ago, he was over seven thousand miles from home. But a week is a long time in Ireland, and the changes that have taken place since his return have left him reeling. A time of confessions and revelations. A time of farewells and new beginnings. In this concluding book of the trilogy, Oliver finally unravels the mystery that has haunted his whole life and, along the way, discovers love, luck, and laughter.

Dystopian stories and visions of the Apocalypse are nothing new; however in recent years there has been a noticeable surge in the output of this type of theme in literature, art, comic books/graphic novels, video games, TV shows, etc. The reasons for this are not exactly clear; it may partly be as a result of post 9/11 anxieties, the increasing incidence of extreme weather and/or environmental anomalies, chaotic fluctuations in the economy and the uncertain and shifting political landscape in the west in general. Investigating this highly topical and pervasive theme from interdisciplinary perspectives this volume presents various angles on the main topic through critical analyses of selected works of fiction, film, TV shows, video games and more.
The Holiday from Hell by Carole and David McEntee-Taylor Pdf
The Adventure holiday of A lifetime It had been billed as the holiday of a lifetime. A destination with everything a holiday maker could possibly want. There were towns and cities where they could shop until they dropped and beaches, clubs and nightlife with all kinds of exotic food and drink and anything else they might feel like trying. There were desserts that stretched into infinity, mountains that scaled incredible heights and seas that could challenge even the most jaded pallet. For those of a quieter persuasion there was an abundance of gently rolling countryside in which to relax. So just where did it all go wrong? Just when was it that their dream holiday turned into the Holiday from Hell? For many people on our planet this could be said to be an apt description of their journey through life. From the pain of individual relationships to the devastation of natural disasters and wars, it’s no wonder we sometimes question the reasons we are here. The Holiday from Hell describes our spiritual journey from the beginning of our holiday on the earth plane to the end of our time in this physical body. It argues that if we change our perceptions of why we are here and begin to understand the origins of some of our political and religious conflicts we can at last begin to enjoy our lives.
Despite its unflinching look at our darkest impulses, and at the stark facts of being a colonized African, the book is ultimately inspirational, for it exposes us to a remarkable sensibility and a hard-won understanding of one's place in the world.CARAF Books: Caribbean and African Literature Translated from French

Pawns of the Game is a novel written loosely off the old conspiracy theory of the Illuminati utilizing the mystery system of Free Masonry and that of ancient Egypt’s religiosity to control contemporary societies massive. The historical, archaeological, and biblical material is real, as are the (gospel) quotations and fragments. Contemporary characters are my own creation, but many of the ancillary characters actually exist merely to lend support for realism sake. However, the portraits I paint of them are fictional—in respect to names, things, places and time. The lead characters in the novel are a secret clique of streetwise men who gained possession of the true knowledge that creates the TRINITY of the Illuminati, Freemasons, and ancient Egypt’s star cult religious mystery system—in order to mastermind their own plot to gain economic and political power within society of the city of New York.
