A Call To Truth: My Search by Gary Nicks Pdf

Have you ever questioned the teachings of the church? Do they make sense to you? When there are teachings you don't understand, have you ever been told, "Just take it on faith, brother?" I have! This was not acceptable to me. If God wants us to know him and his son, Jesus Christ, and the Word of God is his communication to us, then we as individuals should be able to study his Word and understand it. However, I believe that we are in the unfortunate time for the church in which the prophecy of the Apostle Paul has come to its fulfillment: For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. (2 Timothy 4:3-4) This book presents many of the questions I had in my quest for truth. It addresses some of the most egregious doctrines that lead people away from understanding God's plan and how they are to fi t into it. In order to effectively seek God, you must ask questions. Why? Mainly because it is just as easy to believe a lie as it is the truth. Remember John 4:23-24: Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.

Searching for the Truth About Drugs by Marty Gruber,Jack Donaldson Pdf

If you have ever wondered what it would be like to travel the road that a drug addict has chosen, sit back and read about the road into living helland back. Marty Gruber abused drugs for 45 years, and he attempted suicide immediately before he found the door of escape from drug abuse, and the key to a meaningful life. With the aid of Providence Marty found long term meaning, and in the process he has been given the privilege of warning teens about the trap of drug abuse. Research performed in 2010 shows that 48.2 percent of Americas high school seniors have tried illicit drugs. In 2011 the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) reported that drug abuse cost the United States six hundred and nine billion dollars ($609,000,000,000 is not a typo). Most drug addicts die from their addiction because becoming drug free requires help, and many never find that help. Research shows that for each dollar invested in drug abuse prevention, a savings of up to ten dollars in rehabilitation treatment can be achieved. A teenager cant see as far down the road as a seventy-five-year-old man who has already been down that road to just short of its logical enddeath. In Martys case, this was attempted suicide. Marty has returned to warn others not to take the road leading to drug abuse.

Searching for Unmediated Truth by Gregg Hoffmann Pdf

He's also gone through a bitter divorce and lost his dearest friend and mentor. Something is missing, but Garrett isn't quite sure what-or how to find it. In many ways, his plight is typical of modern man: living in a "mediated" world and feeling detached from the environment, other living things, loved ones-and even himself. Garrett craves something real. After hearing about the Tasmanian tiger, the strange animal that has officially been extinct for decades, Garrett travels to Tasmania in search of not only the tiger, but the unmediated truth. But the Tasmanian wilderness and corrupt men with their own agendas stand in his way. Will Garrett find his truth, or does fate have other plans for him?

Searching for the Truth on Sunday Morning by The Gospel Pdf

Every Sunday morning both new Christians and old Christians go from church to church hoping to hear the teachings of Jesus rather than man-made rules. Also on Sunday morning are people that don’t go to church for whatever reason. They may or may not believe in God yet but as you read the Bible you feel like these people are also ones Jesus hopes to reach. This book takes us through the steps of finding God and they all start with Jesus. Using only the Bible we see what Jesus said about accepting Him and being saved. Using the scripture we look at His teachings on baptism, the Holy Spirit, tithing and finally what church we can go to on a Sunday morning to hear His words. The book points to the ministers Jesus said we must follow to be following Him. When we go to His chosen church we expect to be blessed every Sunday morning with the gentle words from Jesus and feel the humble Spirit of God. When people find this way they feel like they are finally part of His flock that Jesus talked about. This church is found around the world but until now nothing but the Bible itself has been written about them. The second half of the book also has many surprises including why there are so many different churches with different opinions on how to follow Jesus. Maybe the most shocking revelation is finding out what happened to the Pharisee Jews that Jesus warned us about so many times that ended up having Him killed. The world thinks the Pharisees just blended back into the Jewish population, but they never, they left Israel and started a new church that is still going today.

Colors of Veracity by Vera Schwarcz Pdf

In Colors of Veracity, Vera Schwarcz condenses four decades of teaching and scholarship about China to raise fundamental questions about the nature of truth and history. In clear and vivid prose, she addresses contemporary moral dilemmas with a highly personal sense of ethics and aesthetics. Drawing on classical sources in Hebrew and Chinese (as well as several Greek and Japanese texts), Schwarcz brings deep and varied cultural references to bear on the question of truth and falsehood in human consciousness. An attentiveness to connotations and nuance is apparent throughout her work, which redefines both the Jewish understanding of emet (a notion of truth that encompasses authenticity) and the Chinese commitment to zhen (a vision of the real that comprises the innermost sincerity of the seeker’s heart-mind). Works of art, from contemporary calligraphy and installations to fake Chinese characters and a Jewish menorah from Roman times, shed light light on the historian’s task of giving voice to the dread-filled past. Following in the footsteps of literary scholar Geoffrey Hartman, Schwarcz expands on the “Philomela Project, which calls on historians to find new ways of conveying truth, especially when political authorities are bent on enforcing amnesia of past traumatic events. Truth matters, even if it cannot be mapped in its totality. Veracity is shown again and again to be neither black nor white. Schwarcz’ accomplishment is a subtle depiction of “fractured luminosity,” which inspires and sustains the moral conviction of those who pursue truth against all odds.
