A List of Hymenoptera (Classic Reprint) by Francis Walker Pdf
Excerpt from A List of Hymenoptera The aspect of tbese regions indicates that they arc especially adapted to Aculeate Hymenoptera, ancl the following list shows that Mr. Lord lias made an extensive collection of them, aud that he has discovered numerous new species, though many of this tribe were published by Ivlug in the work which is here often quoted. Mr. Frederick Smith, of the British Museum, has kindly arranged the specimens and has named many of the species already described. Very few of the species here enumerated are natives of North Europe; several of them inhabit the Mediterranean region; others have a wider range, and extend to South Africa and to West Africa, or to Hindostan. The other tribes of Hymenoptera are very slightly traced, excepting the Chrysid and the genus 13racon. The Chrysid(r) are well represented, and the coloured wings of these species of Bracou arc significant of the great heat of their dwelling-place. The Insects were found in the following localities: - Egypt. Cairo. Shoobra. Heliopolis. Red Mountain. Geezech Pyramids. Africa, near the Red Sea. Berenice. Souakin. Hor Turaanib. Massowah. Sheykh Berout. Akeek (Island). Harkeko. Dahleck (Island). About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
