A Manual for Guardians and Trustees of Minors, Insane Persons, Imbeciles, Idiots, Drunkards, and for Guardians Ad Litem, Resident and Non-Resident, Affected by the Laws of Ohio (Classic Reprint) by Florien Giauque Pdf

Excerpt from A Manual for Guardians and Trustees of Minors, Insane Persons, Imbeciles, Idiots, Drunkards, and for Guardians Ad Litem, Resident and Non-Resident, Affected by the Laws of Ohio To prepare such a work on the subject of guardianship in Ohio, with suitable forms, practical suggestions, index, etc., has been the aim of the writer since this volume was begun and announced. For this pur pose, it has been necessary to examine, with care, the standard works on Trusts, Trustees, Domestic Relations, and other subjects in which guardianship is considered directly or indirectly, as well as a great many cases decided by the courts of our diflerent states and of Eng land, and to glean, condense, and arrange from these authorities such matter as would likely be most. Useful, and yet not to make the book a large or expensive one. The time devoted to it being chiefly outside of usual office hours, its progress was not as rapid as was hoped at first; and when almost ready for the press. It, with considerable other manu script, was totally destroyed by fire. Its data had, therefore, to be again all collected as at first, and its writing done a second time. These are the causes of its delay. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Genetics and the Law by Aubrey Milunsky Pdf

Society has historically not taken a benign view of genetic disease. The laws permitting sterilization of the mentally re tarded~ and those proscribing consanguineous marriages are but two examples. Indeed as far back as the 5th-10th centuries, B.C.E., consanguineous unions were outlawed (Leviticus XVIII, 6). Case law has traditionally tended toward the conservative. It is reactive rather than directive, exerting its influence only after an individual or group has sustained injury and brought suit. In contrast, state legislatures have not been inhibited in enacting statutes. Many of their products can be characterized as hasty, unnecessary, ill-conceived, and based on the heart rather than the head. Moreover the lack of expert consultation sought has also been remarkable. One state legislature, for example, has advocated immunization for sickle cell anemia! Many others have enacted laws for the screening of inborn errors of metabolism, e.g., phenylketon uria, but have poorly defined the lines of responsibility to secure compliance. A spate of specific disease-related bills has emerged in the u.S. Congress, each seeking recognition and appropriations. Sickle cell anemia, hemophilia, Cooley's anemia and Tay-Sachs disease have been among the front-runners for support. Finally, in 1975, Congress has begun to examine an omnibus bill concerning all forms of genetic disease. The bill, termed the National Genetic Diseases Act is, however, still far from being enacted.

A New Breed by Dr. John Hall Pdf

You won’t be able to stop reading once you pick up Dr. John Hall’s terrifying account, A New Breed: Satellite Terrorism in America. Dr. Hall’s narration is based on true-life events and what you’ll find will open your eyes to a completely new form of terrorism. Dr. Hall has treated numerous patients who have complained about voices in their heads, eventually being driven to a form of serious psychosis. In his book, he describes his relationship with his significant other, Mallory, a young, attractive woman with a bright future. Upon beginning a new profession, Mallory was suddenly struck down by unexplainable happenings: mind control, surveillance, stalking, and rape. Hall and others sacrificed themselves and their careers to bring her nightmare to an end. What happened to Mallory and what is happening to countless others? Hall’s supposition is that we are faced with a type of terrorism that is unseen but just as deadly. Our government satellite surveillance systems are a new way for criminals to gain possession not only of our financial lives, but our most precious resource: Our minds. What can we do and who are these individuals who are trying to control the way the think, feel, act and what we do?

Opinion Writing by Ruggero J. Aldisert Pdf

This book is based on real life experiences where the possibility of the living being able to communicate with the deceased is investigated. The belief in reincarnation and life after death raises a tantalising question: Can the living communicate with the dead? Most churchmen and scientists are sceptical, but many people, including churchmen and scientists, believe such a thing is possible. The belief in the immortal soul is a dogma of Christianity (resurrection), Hinduism (reincarnation or samsara), Islam (Day of Judgement), Judaism (sheol), and the Shona (NyikaDzimu). Moreover, man has been familiar with the concept of life after death since time immemorial. Immortality has been rejected by those who feel its only basis is wishful thinking that when the body dies, the personality dies with it because it is part of the physical body. Believers can cite the resurrection of Jesus, and maintain that since life on earth is not completely fulfilled an afterlife is necessary for completion. Another argument in favour of an afterlife is that since matter and energy may be transformed but not destroyed, neither can personality, which exists just as do the elements in nature, be destroyed. In many of the ancient societies, including Egypt and Greece, dreaming was considered a supernatural communication or a means of divine intervention, whose message could be unravelled by those with certain powers. In modern times, various schools of psychology have offered theories about the meaning of dreams. In Communication with the Deceased is meant to serve only as a basis for reflection in order for the reader to examine all the clues and then derive further meaning from specific circumstances of his/her own dreams. To be able to interpret a dream, one does not need to have an academic degree in psychology. What is important is to use one's instinct and common sense. Try to develop your own personal insights into what the common symbols in your dreams mean. When it comes to dream symbols, there are no equivocally universal rules or meanings. Dreams dictionaries help by providing hints at the meaning of symbols that appear in one's dreams. This book is of value to those studying psychology and those participating

As Far as You Can See by Kenny Braun Pdf

“In his novel of Texas, The Gay Place, Billy Lee Brammer famously wrote that ‘the country is most barbarously large and final.’ And indeed it is. Few artists and writers and photographers are big enough to embrace it. This book is proof that Kenny Braun is one who does, which is great news for the rest of us.” —S. C. Gwynne, from the foreword Texas continually awes and surprises with its natural beauty. Within the state’s quarter-million square miles are scenic landscapes as varied as the rugged desert mountains of the Big Bend country, cypress swamps and old-growth forests in the piney woods, ocean beaches and dunes along the Gulf Coast, and stretches of the Great Plains that spread as widely over the earth as the skies above. Kenny Braun has traveled the length and breadth of Texas photographing its vast lands. In As Far as You Can See, he presents a portfolio of stunning images that capture the natural splendor of the entire state. From sweeping landscape shots to detailed close-ups, Braun’s photographs offer fresh, lovely views of Texas. He has a keen eye for the unexpected scene, whether it be the refreshing depths of the Balmorhea pool in arid West Texas or the Tuscan-like look of a Fredericksburg vineyard. Even when he photographs iconic spots such as Enchanted Rock or Caddo Lake, Braun finds new perspectives that allow viewers to see these familiar places as if for the first time. Accompanying the images are a brief introduction by Braun and a foreword by the Pulitzer Prize finalist and New York Times best-selling author S. C. Gwynne. This winning combination of photographs and words makes As Far as You Can See a must-have book to own and to give.

The recent revelations regarding the extent of NSA eavesdropping is only the tip of the iceberg. Guinea Pigs will arm you with the information needed to fight back against those who seek to eliminate human free will. Joan Crawford by David Bret Pdf

In the first biography of Joan Crawford to give the full, uncensored story, bestselling author David Bret tells Crawford's rags to riches climb, from working in a Kansas City laundry to collecting an Oscar for her defining role in Mildred Pierce, and on to her devotion to Christian Science and reliance on vodka. He discusses the star's legendary relationship with Clark Gable, her countless love affairs, her marriages -- three of them to gay men -- and her obsession with rough sex. Bret divulges what really happened that led her to disinherit two of her four children, earning her the nickname "Mommie Dearest," as well as how her loathed mother forced Crawford to work as a prostitute, appear in pornographic films, and sleep her way to the top. Bret analyzes Crawford's films, many of which were constructed purely as vehicles where actress and character were often indistinguishable. Overtly generous towards her coterie of gay friends, she was heartless towards her enemies, particularly Bette Davis, her co-star in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane, with whom she shared a lifelong feud. Drawing on a wealth of unpublished material and interviews, David Bret presents a unique, fascinating portrait of a single-minded, uncompromising woman.
