Bibliography of Bibliographies of the Languages of the World by Anonim Pdf

This is Volume I of a monumental two-volume work, a historical record and guide to bibliographic efforts on all the languages of the world, which is designed to serve the professional as well as non-professional reader as a first point of entry for information about any language. By consulting the Bibliography, the reader will quickly be able to identify specific bibliographic sources for particular topics of interest, and thus rapidly begin to narrow the search for information. Although bibliographies of bibliographies have appeared for a few language families, this set provides for the first time a comprehensive compilation of bibliographies for all of the languages or language families of the world, from the earliest period through 1985. Volume I, with nearly 2500 entries in 400 pages, covers the Indo-European languages of Europe, plus Etruscan and Basque, as well as general and multi-language references, including sections on dictionaries, dissertations, and specialized topics. Volume II, with approximately the same number of entries, will cover all other languages. In the Bibliography, most entries are annotated to indicate the number of items in each bibliography and how they are arranged; some information on the scope and coverage of the work (where not obvious from the title); whether items are annotated; and what indexes are included. The Bibliography will long stand as an indispensable reference tool, and should be in every library serving readers interested in any aspect of language.

Bibliography of Slavic Linguistics, 2000-2014 by Sijmen Tol,René Martin Genis,Ekaterina Bobyleva,Marc L. Greenberg,Eline van der Veken Pdf

Within international linguistics, the study of Slavic languages enjoys considerable interest. The extensive coverage of Slavic languages in the 'Linguistic Bibliography' is evidence of this. The 'Bibliography of Slavic Linguistics, 2000-2014' brings together the details of over 50,000 unique publications, carefully selected, classified, cross-referenced and indexed by professional bibliographers: it gives a complete overview of the field of studies since the beginning of this century. All contributing bibliographers are specialized Slavists themselves, guaranteeing the quality of the descriptions and annotations. The selection includes over thirty publication languages including publications in Finnish, Estonian, Greek, Albanian, Dutch, English, German, Japanese, Hebrew as well as other languages. Marc L. Greenberg’s Introduction gives an overview of the state of scholarship in Slavic linguistics and the directions in which the field is headed. The 3 volumes are thematically and geographically ordered in the sections General, Slavic, South Slavic, West Slavic and East Slavic. All references are classified according to a sophisticated classification scheme (over 100 subject classes), refined with an extensive language and subject keyword index.

Linguistics by Anna L. DeMiller Pdf

Thoroughly revised and updated with some 500 new entries-including the addition of pertinent Internet sites-this is the only bibliographic guide to information sources for linguistics. Coverage spans from 1957, the publication date of Chomsky's seminal work, to the present, with emphasis on English-language resources. DeMiller's detailed citations describe and evaluate each work, often offering comparisons to similar titles. Its broad coverage and in-depth reviews make this work essential to the research and study of general or theoretical linguistics. The book is also indispensable in the related areas of anthropological linguistics, applied linguistics, mathematical and computation linguistics, psycholinguistics, semiotics, and sociolinguistics, which are all treated in separate chapters, as well as the study of language and languages from a linguistic perspective. A must for any library supporting the study of linguistics or its related fields, this is a valuable reference and research tool. It i

Aspects of Slavic Linguistics by Olav Mueller-Reichau,Marcel Guhl Pdf

The present volume offers a selection of papers on current issues in Slavic languages. It takes stock of the past 20 years of linguistic research at the Department of Slavic Studies at Leipzig University. Within these two decades, the scientific writing, teaching, and organization done in this Department strengthened the mode of research in formal description of Slavic languages, formed another center for this kind of linguistic research in the world, and brought about a remarkable amount of scientific output. The authors of this volume are former or present members of the Department of Slavic studies or academic friends. Based on the data from East, West, and South Slavic languages, the papers tackle issues of all grammatical subdisciplines in current models of description, compare parts of the grammars of Slavic languages, explain categories and phrases in Slavic languages that do not exist in present-day Indogermanic languages of Western Europe, and propose ways how to update the standard of lexicography in still less described Slavic languages. A study of language competence is dedicated to the actual requests on heritage speakers and shows how their abilities can be evaluated.
