Achieving Organizational Excellence by Flevy Lasrado Pdf

This book bridges two essential aspects of assessing and achieving business excellence in 21st-century organizations. The author argues that transnational companies face a twofold challenge: managing global knowledge networks and multicultural project teams on the one hand; and interacting and collaborating across boundaries using global communication technologies, on the other. The author also argues that this dual challenge calls for the creation of a business excellence program that fits and thrives within these multicultural environments. In response, he reviews corporate practices in quality management and business excellence frameworks that have been extensively used on a transnational scale to drive organizational performance. The book approaches quality management as an element that is no longer a choice, but has now become a necessity if companies want to compete in highly globalized environments.

About the Book: Quality is key to the competitive advantage in today's business environment. In this book, the term Quality has been interpreted in its broader sense of overall performance of a organization rather than quality of products and services. The value of this book is in the rich experience of the Author in the body of knowledge of quality management, both in the national and international context. He has presented the subject in the way that it can be easily used in the practical situations, which would convince the reader of its applicability in the real world. The book provides practical guidance for preparing comprehensive quality improvement plan, which not only covers production of goods and services, but also other departments such as Design, Marketing, Material Management and HR, all of which play an important part in achieving organizational excellence. Organization Excellence: Productivity and Improvement (A Simple Approach) by David Kong Pdf

Throughout my years of productivity and IT consultancy with implementation, I have encountered numerous challenges faced by organization to implement an efficient and effective system that works for them. When such challenges are not handled properly, it resulted in implementations which are not optimized to the organization business requirement. I would like to provide some useful information, which can help organizations to implement productivity and improvement activities into their daily operations. There are many factors that can affect productivity of an organization. As it is not possible for me to cover every tool which can help to improve productivity, I have decided to concentrate on some of the key ones here. I will be touching on plant layouts, proper quality frameworks and management system for the discussion in this book. An organization with an optimized system in place, can contribute to good output performance. It increases the efficiency and effectiveness of an organization. Internal controls should be installed to ensure that products at every stage of the process are being checked for conformance. Enforcement of the compliance to the procedures and internal controls that were implemented should also be available to ensure that the defined goals and objectives are met. A good organization should stress on training for staff. Such training should be structured in a way that it is geared towards equipping staff with the relevant skill sets and knowledge to perform their job. Job skill matrix table could be put up to develop staff further and also serve as a tool for resource planning. I cannot stress enough the importance of how a good proper strategic planning and implementation can contribute greatly to the success of an organization performance. Due to this, I have also included Business Continuity Planning as one of the criteria for organization excellence. With the occurrence of natural disaster, haze, pandemic flu episode and any unexpected happening, it warrants some form of planning to prepare the organization to systematically react in the event such occurrence is to happen. As a value added service, I have included a few Excel templates for some of the tools cover in this book in the website: http://pqi.dscloud.biz. You will need to be a registered user in order to gain access to them. They are listed as follows: - Fish Bone Diagram using Excel - Moving Average using Excel - Correlation using Excel - Covariance using Excel - Percentile using Excel - Pareto Chart using Excel - Solver using Excel - Goal Seek using Excel

Phoenix Without the Ashes by Gary English Pdf

The quality management revolution has resulted in considerable trial and error as well as frustration. Here is a book that explores why many management trends don't translate into process improvement. It recommends establishing a condition of "rationality" as a guide and measure for all organizational and quality improvement efforts. Instead of imposing radical new "breakthroughs", Phoenix Without the Ashes: Achieving Organizational Excellence Through Common Sense Management suggests an approach that fits with the normal routines and operations of an organization in a way that makes sense. Part One of this text discusses the nature of common sense, and of quality as a condition of organizational excellence. In Part Two, the elements that negatively affect quality improvement are explained from an operating management perspective. Part Three looks at the impediments to improvement set by organizational structures. Part Four discusses the relationship among leadership, motivation, and organizational excellence, and Part Five suggests a rational strategy for effective, enduring organizational improvement. Managers in every industry will benefit from the information provided in Phoenix Without the Ashes.

Outcomes, Performance, Structure (OPS) by Michael E. Gallery,Stephen C. Carey Pdf

The purpose of this book is to help you put already-existing performance criteria in a context of your organizational system and assist you in using the criteria to assess problems in your organization. More importantly, this book will help you in designing systemic solutions to the systemic problems you have identified with easy-to-use samples and questions that draw out key areas where the organization needs to improve. Most organizations are not lacking in information; what is most often lacking is a framework that leaders can use to organize and make sense of the information they have. The authors provide such a framework through OPS. They will also help readers engage in “backwards thinking” to identify—and fix—real-world problems with practical solutions. This book is not an “answer book” in the sense that we present a series of common problems and the accompanying answers. To be sure, many such books exist—such as 101 Ideas for (fill in the blank). Most of these answers are based on someone’s recollection of what they did to solve a problem. The results of the solution, measureable gains, are seldom if ever reported. This book provides a system for discovering your own problems, developing solutions, evaluating success, and gathering information that will help to improve solutions should they fail on the first attempt. It is based upon more than 30 years of research within the discipline of human performance improvement.

Operational Excellence in Your Office by Kevin J. Duggan,Tim Healey Pdf

Operational Excellence is achieved when all employees in your organization can see the flow of value to your customers and can make adjustments to that flow before it breaks down. Operational Excellence in Your Office: A Guide to Achieving Autonomous Value Stream Flow with Lean Techniques presents nine time-tested guidelines for designing business process flow that enable Operational Excellence in the office. Each chapter describes one guideline by using text, illustrations, and practical examples to provide a comprehensive understanding of why creating flow in the office is essential and how to achieve it. Accounting for the reality that most office employees are required to work on many different projects throughout the day, this book details a step-by-step methodology for leveraging traditional value stream flow to establish Operational Excellence in an office environment. In addition, it describes a more advanced form of flow called "self-healing" flow—in which employees are capable of identifying and fixing problems with the flow without requiring management intervention. Explaining how to achieve Operational Excellence and self-healing flow with the nine guidelines, the book also introduces new concepts such as part-time continuous flow processing cells, workflow cycles, takt capability, integration events, pitch in the office, and ways to tell whether your office is on time. With this book, you will be able to take the knowledge provided and immediately apply it by following the step-by-step checklists included at the end of each chapter. In addition to the lists of action items for implementing each guideline, the book includes "acid tests" you can use to determine if you have implemented each guideline correctly. When finished, you will have designed an end-to-end flow for the services in your office as well as visual systems to help employees distinguish normal flow from abnormal flow so they can fix flow problems on their own, before they negatively impact your customers.
