Ages in Chaos IV by Immanuel Velikovsky Pdf

The Dark Age of Greece is the latest entry in the Ages in Chaos series first put forth by the late Immanuel Velikovsky in 1952; and is one more key brick in the reconstruction of ancient history proposed by him beginning with the termination of Egypt's Middle Kingdom and the many centuries that followed whose dated credibility he challenged. The fundamental thesis of this current book is that there was no true Dark Age, but resulted from the forced capitulation on the part of Classicists and others to the overriding influence of ancient Egyptian chronology. The specific outcome of the preceding was the creation of an inexplicable 500-year lacuna, ca. 1250-750 BC, between the end of the Mycenaean Age and the rise of Classical Greece. Comprising some 500 pages of text and references, The Dark Age of Greece contains contributions by Velikovsky himself and three of his associates. From a detailed and vigorous study of the Trojan War, preclassical archaeology, stratigraphy, architecture, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, sports, warfare, language, literature, heroes, and divinities as well as comparisons with later Classical and Oriental examples of similar artifacts, the Greek Dark Age is revealed to be completely spurious. The elimination of the Greek Dark Age thereby reaffirms the need to correct Egyptian chronology which, when adjusted, now makes the history of Bronze Age Greece and that of the Anatolian Hittites completely whole and sensible.

Complexity Theories of Cities Have Come of Age by Juval Portugali,Han Meyer,Egbert Stolk,Ekim Tan Pdf

Today, our cities are an embodiment of the complex, historical evolution of knowledge, desires and technology. Our planned and designed activities co-evolve with our aspirations, mediated by the existing technologies and social structures. The city represents the accretion and accumulation of successive layers of collective activity, structuring and being structured by other, increasingly distant cities, reaching now right around the globe. This historical and structural development cannot therefore be understood or captured by any set of fixed quantitative relations. Structural changes imply that the patterns of growth, and their underlying reasons change over time, and therefore that any attempt to control the morphology of cities and their patterns of flow by means of planning and design, must be dynamical, based on the mechanisms that drive the changes occurring at a given moment. This carefully edited post-proceedings volume gathers a snapshot view by leading researchers in field, of current complexity theories of cities. In it, the achievements, criticisms and potentials yet to be realized are reviewed and the implications to planning and urban design are assessed.

The Invention of Monotheist Ethics by Hillel I. Millgram Pdf

The Invention of Monotheist Ethics, Volume I presents a comprehensive analysis of the Biblical Book of Samuel. Usually taken to be a socio-political history of ancient Israel during a turbulent century of change, The Invention of Monotheist Ethics contends that beneath this surface level the true focus of Samuel is a profound appraisal of power, its seductive appeal and its drastic limitations. Thus Samuel emerges as a radical critique of our power-based world, and the way we, its inhabitants, order our lives. Taken together with the contention that the Book of Samuel was written by a woman, the Biblical book emerges as a woman's critique of a man's world. This assessment concludes by proposing an alternative to the world we know: a world based on care and concern. Relying on recent sociological studies, this work explores the ramifications of an ethic based on care rather than justice.

Mankind in Amnesia by Immanuel Velikovsky Pdf

Immanuel Velikovsky called this book the "fulfillment of his oath of Hippocrates - to serve humanity." In this book he returns to his roots as a psychologist and psychoanalytical therapist, yet not with a single person as his patient but with humanity as a whole. After an extremely revealing overview of the foundations of the various psychoanalytical systems he makes the step into crowd psychology and reopens the case of Worlds in Collision from a totally different point of view: as a psychoanalytical case study. This way he shows that the blatant reactions to his theories (which are still going on today) have not been surprising but are actually inevitable from a psychological perspective - which equally holds for those who have defined our view of the world. At the same time he is able to reclassify the theories of Siegmund Freud and of C. G. Jung by finding a common basis for them. A journey through history, religion, mythology and art shows the overall range of the collective trauma and gives us - the patients - a message of extraordinary urgency and importance for the future.
