An Introduction to Applied Psychology (Classic Reprint) by Coleman R. Griffith Pdf

Excerpt from An Introduction to Applied Psychology There is one fact about the study of human nature that causes every teacher no end of amazement. This fact is that the student, even of a book on applied psychology, will suppose that the events he reads about and the conclusions that are drawn must concern some Other person than himself. This very day, for example, the reader of these lines will have been attracted by an advertisement, signed for some insurance that he did not want, remarked the strange differences between himself and his friends, followed a custom, either in clothing, in political opinion, Orin social attitude, used an awkward method of learning an oration, given unreliable testimony about an accident, forgotten the name of a familiar person, suffered from some one of the many forms of maladjustment, or found himself ill-adapted to his curriculum; but when he reads about the psychological side of these various episodes, he will still not believe that he is discovering any information that pertains to his own conduct. Nothing can be so plain as the fact that the persons who study this book are the persons of whom the experimental psychologist speaks and writes. That most of us do not know this to be true is due, in part, to our own lack of imagination and, in part, to the way in which the facts and principles of psychology are presented to us. So far as the student is concerned, every attempt has been made in the follow ing pages constantly to remind him that he is looking at a fairly ac curate photograph oi himself and of his doings. The only way to know What the science of human nature is about and how it can be applied to various situations is to remember the situations in which the reader himself has been placed or to imagine those in which he may be placed. He must remember, also, what he and others did and thought about them. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. An Introduction to Psychology (Classic Reprint) by Wilhelm Wundt Pdf

Excerpt from An Introduction to Psychology The present volume is a popular introduction to the Wundtian psychology. It is a shorter and simpler sketch than the same author's Outlines of Psychology, and it should prove invaluable to the 'english-speaking student who wishes to gain some conception of the subject before entering upon a deeper study of the same. Its popularity in Germany has been phenomenal. In translating the work the translator has, as far as possible, used the same English terms as those employed in the translations of Wundt by Judd and Titchener. Applied Psychology by John William Taylor Pdf

Excerpt from Applied Psychology: Or Faculties of the Mind The Author ventures to suggest that no one who is thoroughly acquainted with the principles and proofs of what may be justly termed Synthetic, as distinguished from mere Analytic, Phrenology will deny that it forms the most concise and complete system of mental philo sophy and practical psychology in existence. All the actual evidence of modern experimental research, as the writer has endeavoured to point out elsewhere, tends to prove conclusively that the brain is not a single organ, brain-segment, or centre. The writer's defence and reply to adverse criticism will be found in the introduction. The system of psychology revealed by Phrenology is greatly in advance of that taught by Lock, Dugald Stewart, and others. For example, their primitive mental powers of Perception, Memory, and Judgment were, in truth, properties of several powers of the mind. Introduction to Psychology by Jennifer Walinga,Charles Stangor Pdf

This book is designed to help students organize their thinking about psychology at a conceptual level. The focus on behaviour and empiricism has produced a text that is better organized, has fewer chapters, and is somewhat shorter than many of the leading books. The beginning of each section includes learning objectives; throughout the body of each section are key terms in bold followed by their definitions in italics; key takeaways, and exercises and critical thinking activities end each section.

Institutes of Education by S. S. Laurie Pdf

Excerpt from Institutes of Education: Comprising an Introduction to Rational Psychology; Designed(partly) As a Text-Book for University and Colleges I began this book as a Handbook for the students of my own class. It grew in the course of production. I felt that I could be of most service to students, and perhaps also to Lecturers on Education, if I printed in full the more abstract portions of my argument those, namely, which dealt with the philosophy of method. The result is that the volume is more than a Handbook and less than a Treatise. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
