Will Somebody Please Stand Up and Tell My People THE TRUTH by Sammie Madison Pdf

Since the death of Martin Luther King, Jr., it seems that we as black Americans have lost our way; we, as did the Hebrew Israelites, have been wandering in the "wilderness of sin and debauchery" for forty-plus years and have not been able to enter into the Promised Land. We have followed blind guides who have led us wandering in the wilderness. We have followed self-proclaimed black leaders whose leadership have been marred by deception, dishonesty, egotism, and a lack of integrity. For several years now, I have wrestled and agonized with the disturbing notion "Will somebody please stand up and tell my people the truth?" We have sabotaged our own selves and are losing the race; thusly, we have been detoured from entering the Promised Land. Sammie L. Madison

Surrealism and Cinema by Michael Richardson Pdf

Surrealism has long been recognised as having made a major contribution to film theory and practice, and many contemporary film-makers acknowledge its influence. Most of the critical literature, however, focuses either on the 1920s or the work of Buuel. The aim of this book is to open up a broader picture of surrealism's contribution to the conceptualisation and making of film.Tracing the work of Luis Buuel, Jacques Prvert, Nelly Kaplan, Walerian Borowcyzk, Jan vankmajer, Raul Ruiz and Alejandro Jodorowsky, Surrealism and Cinema charts the history of surrealist film-making in both Europe and Hollywood from the 1920s to the present day. At once a critical introduction and a provocative re-evaluation, Surrealism and Cinema is essential reading for anyone interested in surrealist ideas and art and the history of film.

Borrow-A-Bridesmaid by Anne Wagener Pdf

When life hands you lemons, make lemonade—or, in Piper Brody’s case, make a Craigslist ad offering yourself up as a hired bridesmaid! A hilarious, touching, coming-of-age novel from debut author Anne Wagener. Piper is a recent college grad who decides to sell her body on Craigslist—as a hired bridesmaid. Her airport bookseller job just isn’t bringing home the turkey bacon, and no one’s going to pay her to analyze Milton’s poetry. Turns out, having an English literature degree from an upstanding university isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Piper’s Craigslist endeavor soon picks up steam, netting her clients such as Southern peach Stacey, whose interracial marriage causes a family feud, and Alex, a bride-to-be who’s so type A she’s type A-plus. Between fighting off matching T-shirt–wearing teams of “bustle bitches” at gown sales and learning more about fondant than the Cake Boss, Piper falls for Charlie Bell, the brother of a client. A fellow aspiring writer, Charlie’s the only person recently who’s encouraged Piper to follow her dreams. Not to mention, he’s pretty darn cute. But when Charlie turns out to be the groom in one of her gigs—and set to marry the craziest bridezilla of them all—Piper must band together with her newfound friends and stop Charlie from making the biggest mistake of his life.

Bridging Differences by William B. Gudykunst Pdf

Bridging Differences: Effective Intergroup Communication is based on the assumption that the processes operating when we communicate with people from other groups are the same processes operating when we communicate with people from our own groups. Author William B. Gudykunst has written this book from the perspective of "communicating with strangers" and addresses how factors related to our group memberships (e.g., inaccurate and unfavorable stereotypes of members of other cultures and ethnic groups) can cause us to misinterpret the messages we receive from members of those groups. Designed for students taking courses in Intercultural Communication or Intergroup Communication, Bridging Differences is also useful for many courses in Cultural Studies, Anthropology, Sociology, and Management.

Speaking Torah Vol 1 by Dr. Arthur Green Pdf

The most powerful Hasidic teachings made accessible—from some of the world's preeminent authorities on Jewish thought and spirituality. "The teachings of Torah, from beginning to end, are read here as a path toward liberation, a way of uplifting your soul and allowing it to journey homeward, back to its Source in the oneness of all being. Or, even better, to discover that oneness right here, in a loving but transformative embrace of both world and self." —from "To the Reader" While Hasidic tales have become widely known to modern audiences, the profound spiritual teachings that stand at the very heart of Hasidism have remained a closed book for all except scholars. This fascinating selection—presented in two volumes following the weekly Torah reading and the holiday cycle, and featured in English and Hebrew—makes the teachings accessible in an extraordinary way. Volume 1 covers Genesis, Exodus and Leviticus, and includes a history of early Hasidism and a summary of central religious teachings of the Maggid's school. Volume 2 covers Numbers and Deuteronomy and the holiday cycle, and includes brief biographies of the Hasidic figures. Each teaching is presented with a fresh translation and contemporary commentary that builds a bridge between the eighteenth and twenty-first centuries. And each teaching concludes with a dynamic round-table discussion between distinguished Jewish scholar Arthur Green and his closest students—the editors of this volume. They highlight the wisdom that is most meaningful for them, thus serving as a contemporary circle's reflections on the original mystical circle of master and disciples who created these teachings. Volume 1 of a 2-volume set

Dignaga on the Interpretation of Signs by R.P. Hayes Pdf

Buddhist philosophy in India in the early sixth century C. E. took an important tum away from the traditional methods of explaining and systematizing the teachings in Siitra literature that were attributed to the Buddha. The new direction in which several Indian Buddhist philosophers began to move was that of following reasoning to its natural conclusions, regardless whether the conclusions conflicted with traditional teachings. The central figure in this new movement was DiIinaga, a native of South India who found his way to the centre of Buddhist education at Nalanda, studied the treatises that were learned by the Buddhist intellectuals of his day, and eventually wrote works of his own that formed the core of a distinctly new school of Buddhist thought. Inasmuch as virtually every Indian philosopher after the sixth century had either to reject Dirinaga's methods or build upon the foundations provided by his investigations into logic, epistemology and language, his influence on the evolution of Indian philosophy was considerable, and indeed some familiarity with Dirinaga's arguments and conclusions is indispensable for anyone who wishes to understand the historical development of Indian thought. Moreover, since the approach to Buddhism that grew out of Dirinaga's meditations on language and the limits of knowledge dominated the minds of many of the scholars who took Buddhism to Tibet, some familiarity with Dirinaga is also essential to those who wish to understand the intellectual infrastructure of Tibetan Buddhist philosophy and practice.

The Break-Up Album by Lauren Blakely Pdf

A sexy standalone novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Lauren Blakely Read the book RT Book Reviews gave 4.5 stars: "It's impossible not to fall utterly in love with the humor and passion between her tempting, talented hero and remarkably resilient heroine. New readers and longtime fans: Don't miss this newest success." They say all's fair in love and music... I say life would be a lot fairer if I wasn't so wildly attracted to the man I'm spending all my days with, who's decidedly off-limits. But then again, I can't technically complain—I have a Grammy, a hit album, and a job most people would be envious of—I'm a rock star. What I haven't had in years is a hot date. The dating drought isn't because I'm a single mom. It's because I have a little itty-bitty issue with trust because of how my marriage imploded. Matthew is determined to break down my walls, and it sure doesn't hurt that he's British, witty, and far too tempting. He's also the toughest music journalist out there, and he's interviewing me for an in-depth article. The trouble is, I want to get in-depth with him, and the more time we spend together, the more tempted we both are to cross lines that shouldn't be crossed. Previously released as Far Too Tempting (October 2013), now updated for a new readership!
