Artificial intelligence will not necessarily create a super-intelligent “human robot”; however, it is very probable that intelligent robots and intelligent informats will bring about a form of super-globalization, in which money and goods are prioritized over people and democracy and where the widespread use of casual labour – that is, short-term contracts – will become the most common form of employment relationship. It is also very likely that artificial intelligence will bring about what is known as singularity. This term is used to describe a situation where intelligent robots, from a rational and logical perspective, are smarter than humans, i.e. the development of AI. This book explores the impact that these intelligent robots and intelligent informats will have on social and societal development. The author tackles the question of singularity from three distinct standpoints: technological singularity – the intelligence of machines compared to that of humans – which he argues will bring about a qualitatively new labour market; economic singularity – the consequences for work relationships, value creation and employment – which he asserts will promote full automation, result in precarious contracts with low salaries, and, in some countries, possibly lead to the introduction of a universal basic income; and social singularity – the consequences of technological and economic singularity for democratic processes, bureaucratic procedures for exercising authority and control, and the direction in which society will develop, in addition to the emergence of new social institutions – which Johannessen says will promote a transition from representative democracy to genuine democracy. The worry over joblessness due to industrialisation is not a new occurrence. Although vast technical and industrial development should be pursued recklessly in order to make bigger profits that should increase wealth for all, there have been movements against this development throughout history. Reasons for these dissenting voices can be for example: social, ecological or even economic to maintain the status quo. The destruction of mechanical looms from 1811 by Ned Ludd and his followers show, how people have been aware of the effects of technology on employment. Even though there are a plenty of reasons to work against an industrial revolution, e.g. pollution or change of the environment, a lot of them are rooted in a fear of unemployment. It has been shown, that unemployment leads to an increase of criminality, decreases mental and physical health and has a negative impact on individual happiness. If the assumption that about 47 percent of total US employment is at risk, is correct, employments and therefore society is facing a massive disruption. This assignment is focused on social and macroeconomic outcomes from the latest technological trend, and highly discussed topic in media: Artificial Intelligence based Automation. Following the introduction it is primarily discussed, which kinds of jobs are potentially threatened by automation. Second, this assignment illustrate the economic problems arising with automation. The third part is a brief summarisation of approaches on how to cope with the problems caused by automation in the near future.

Climate and demographic changes are two major long-term trends that are evolving simultaneously. The global population is aging, while climate change is increasing the frequency and severity of weather-related disasters and lowering productivity. This paper examines the macroeconomic effects of these three changes in a common framework. Simulation results suggest that while aging drags down the real interest rate, climate change puts upward pressure on the real interest rate and inflation. As climate change intensifies, it will be the dominant factor shaping the macroeconomic variables. This results in higher inflation and a higher debt-to-GDP ratio, requiring tighter fiscal and monetary policies. The results further suggest that economic uncertainty induced by climate change amplifies these effects of climate change.
