Beloved Warrior by Patricia Potter Pdf

“Sparkling with high seas drama and tender romance,” the third Scottish Highlands novel is “a pure pleasure” (Publishers Weekly, starred review). For almost seven years, Scottish noble Patrick Maclean has toiled as a slave aboard a Spanish galleon ship. Now the day of reckoning has finally arrived. Leading his fellow oarsmen into mutiny, he seizes control of the Sofia. But there’s an unexpected passenger: the ship owner’s niece. With no choice but to take the Spanish beauty hostage, Patrick sails for Scotland to exact his long-awaited revenge and reclaim his rightful legacy. Juliana Mendoza was willing to do anything to save her mother—even leave her beloved homeland to marry a total stranger. Now she finds herself the captive of a man with murder in his heart. But at Inverleith, the Macleans’ ancestral keep, she sees a different side of the fierce warrior and meets his honorable clan, struggling to bring peace to a bitterly divided country. Her warring feelings for Patrick erupt into a passion that leaves them both yearning for more. But Juliana is duty bound to another land . . . and another man. Beloved Warrior is the 3rd book in the Scottish Highland series, but you may enjoy reading the series in any order.

I Am Put Here for the Defense of the Gospel by Terry L. Miethe Pdf

Dr. Norman L. Geisler has been called the "father of evangelical Christian philosophy." He has written more than one hundred books and taught at universities and top seminaries for some fifty-six years. He was the first president of the Evangelical Philosophical Society and the founder and first president of the International Society of Christian Apologetics. He has spoken or debated in more than two dozen countries and held pastoral/pulpit ministries in four states. Many view him as a cross between Thomas Aquinas and Billy Graham. No one has done more to communicate the modern challenges of the Faith to the "average" Christian, to the church, and to the academy. This volume offers creative and constructive essays from twenty-three contributors, all notable in their own right, who preserve and propagate Dr. Geisler's ideas and express appreciation for his influence. Those who know him best say he is "true, faithful, and blessed by God!"

Subversive Spirits by Robin Roberts Pdf

The supernatural has become extraordinarily popular in literature, television, and film. Vampires, zombies, werewolves, witches, and wizard have become staples of entertainment industries, and many of these figures have received extensive critical attention. But one figure has remained in the shadows--the female ghost. Inherently liminal, often literally invisible, the female ghost has nevertheless appeared in all genres. Subversive Spirits: The Female Ghost in British and American Popular Culture brings this figure into the light, exploring her cultural significance in a variety of media from 1926 to 2014. Robin Roberts argues that the female ghost is well worth studying for what she can tell us about feminine subjectivity in cultural contexts. Subversive Spirits examines appearances of the female ghost in heritage sites, theater, Hollywood film, literature, and television in the United States and the United Kingdom. What holds these disparate female ghosts together is their uncanny ability to disrupt, illuminate, and challenge gendered assumptions. As with other supernatural figures, the female ghost changes over time, especially responding to changes in gender roles. Roberts's analysis begins with comedic female ghosts in literature and film and moves into horror by examining the successful play The Woman in Black and the legend of the weeping woman, La Llorona. Roberts then situates the canonical works of Maxine Hong Kingston and Toni Morrison in the tradition of the female ghost to explore how the ghost is used to portray the struggle and pain of women of color. Roberts further analyzes heritage sites that use the female ghost as the friendly and inviting narrator for tourists. The book concludes with a comparison of the British and American versions of the television hit Being Human, where the female ghost expands her influence to become a mother and savior to all humanity.
