Applied Data Analysis and Modeling for Energy Engineers and Scientists by T. Agami Reddy,Gregor P. Henze Pdf

Now in a thoroughly revised and expanded second edition, this classroom-tested text demonstrates and illustrates how to apply concepts and methods learned in disparate courses such as mathematical modeling, probability, statistics, experimental design, regression, optimization, parameter estimation, inverse modeling, risk analysis, decision-making, and sustainability assessment methods to energy processes and systems. It provides a formal structure that offers a broad and integrative perspective to enhance knowledge, skills, and confidence to work in applied data analysis and modeling problems. This new edition also reflects recent trends and advances in statistical modeling as applied to energy and building processes and systems. It includes numerous examples from recently published technical papers to nurture and stimulate a more research-focused mindset. How the traditional stochastic data modeling approaches are complemented by data analytic algorithmic models such as machine learning and data mining are also discussed. The important societal issues related to the sustainability of energy systems are presented, and a formal structure is proposed meant to classify the various assessment methods found in the literature. Applied Data Analysis and Modeling for Energy Engineers and Scientists is designed for senior-level undergraduate and graduate instruction in energy engineering and mathematical modeling, for continuing education professional courses, and as a self-study reference book for working professionals. In order for readers to have exposure and proficiency with performing hands-on analysis, the open-source Python and R programming languages have been adopted in the form of Jupyter notebooks and R markdown files, and numerous data sets and sample computer code reflective of real-world problems are available online.

Distributed Infrastructure Support for Electronic Commerce Applications by Hans-Arno Jacobsen Pdf

Distributed Infrastructure Support For E-Commerce And Distributed Applications is organized in three parts. The first part constitutes an overview, a more detailed motivation of the problem context, and a tutorial-like introduction to middleware systems. The second part is comprised of a set of chapters that study solutions to leverage the trade-off between a transparent programming model and application-level enabled resource control. The third part of this book presents three detailed distributed application case studies and demonstrates how standard middleware platforms fail to adequately cope with resource control needs of the application designer in these three cases: -An electronic commerce framework for software leasing over the World Wide Web; -A remote building energy management system that has been experimentally deployed on several building sites; -A wireless computing infrastructure for efficient data transfer to non-stationary mobile clients that have been experimentally validated.

Modeling and Control in Air-conditioning Systems by Ye Yao,Yuebin Yu Pdf

This book investigates the latest modeling and control technologies in the context of air-conditioning systems. Firstly, it introduces the state-space method for developing dynamic models of all components in a central air-conditioning system. The models are primarily nonlinear and based on the fundamental principle of energy and mass conservation, and are transformed into state-space form through linearization. The book goes on to describe and discuss the state-space models with the help of graph theory and the structure-matrix theory. Subsequently, virtual sensor calibration and virtual sensing methods (which are very useful for real system control) are illustrated together with a case study. Model-based predictive control and state-space feedback control are applied to air-conditioning systems to yield better local control, while the air-side synergic control scheme and a global optimization strategy based on the decomposition-coordination method are developed so as to achieve energy conservation in the central air-conditioning system. Lastly, control strategies for VAV systems including total air volume control and trim & response static pressure control are investigated in practice.
