Choose Heaven Hell by Peter Smith Pdf

Death is a mystery, and people fear that which they do not understand. No one looks forward to dying, but it is inevitable. The mystery is, "Is there something or someplace where a person will go to after their last breath?" There are many beliefs concerning this matter, and not all of them can be true. Television and the media have trained our minds to believe that heaven and hell is a figment of our imagination. There is no life after this one. Others believe in some sort of heaven or hell. They have questions: Are they real? What are they like? What goes on while there? Where are they? And vitally important, Who will reside in either place, and why? The focus of this book is to develop an understanding about hell. Hell will remain a mystery as long as a person does not go to the source for the information. There are books written which speak of people who have died, gone to hell, and then come back. Should we believe them? Are they fiction or fact? Where can we go to receive the truth and answers? Is there a source which we can believe and not question? This book is not written on fable or fiction but on fact. The writer never went to hell or had visions from God. The answers concerning hell are available to any who seeks and is interested in their life after death. Read on and become informed. Knowledge of hell will help the reader in making a life-changing decision. Read on if you desire the truth.

Heaven and Hell by Bart D. Ehrman Pdf

Over half of Americans believe in a literal heaven, in a literal hell. Most people who hold these beliefs are Christian and assume they are the age-old teachings of the Bible. Ehrman shows that eternal rewards and punishments are found nowhere in the Old Testament, and are not what Jesus or his disciples taught. He recounts the long history of the afterlife, ranging from The Epic of Gilgamesh up to the writings of Augustine, focusing especially on the teachings of Jesus and his early followers. Ehrman shows that competing views were intimately connected with the social, cultural, and historical worlds out of which they emerged. -- adapted from jacket

Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory by Jerry L. Walls Pdf

Will heaven be boring? How can a good and loving God send people to hell? Is there such a place as purgatory? If so, why is it necessary, if we're saved by grace? Questions about the afterlife abound. Given what is at stake, they are the most important questions we will ever consider. Recent years have seen a surge of Christian books written by people claiming to have received a glimpse of the afterlife, and numerous books, films, and TV shows have apocalyptic or postapocalyptic themes. Jerry Walls, a dynamic writer and expert on the afterlife, distills his academic writing on heaven, hell, and purgatory to offer clear biblical, theological, and philosophical grounding for thinking about these issues. He provides an ecumenical account of purgatory that is compatible with Protestant theology and defends the doctrine of eternal hell. Walls shows that the Christian vision of the afterlife illumines the deepest and most important issues of our lives, changing the way we think about happiness, personal identity, morality, and the very meaning of life.

That All Shall Be Saved by David Bentley Hart Pdf

A stunning reexamination of one of the essential tenets of Christian belief from one of the most provocative and admired writers on religion today “A scathing, vigorous, eloquent attack on those who hold that that there is such a thing as eternal damnation.”—Karen Kilby, Commonweal The great fourth-century church father Basil of Caesarea once observed that, in his time, most Christians believed that hell was not everlasting, and that all would eventually attain salvation. But today, this view is no longer prevalent within Christian communities. In this momentous book, David Bentley Hart makes the case that nearly two millennia of dogmatic tradition have misled readers on the crucial matter of universal salvation. On the basis of the earliest Christian writings, theological tradition, scripture, and logic, Hart argues that if God is the good creator of all, he is the savior of all, without fail. And if he is not the savior of all, the Kingdom is only a dream, and creation something considerably worse than a nightmare. But it is not so. There is no such thing as eternal damnation; all will be saved. With great rhetorical power, wit, and emotional range, Hart offers a new perspective on one of Christianity’s most important themes.

Journeys to Heaven and Hell by Bart D. Ehrman Pdf

A New York Times best-selling scholar's illuminating exploration of the earliest Christian narrated journeys to heaven and hell “[An] illuminating deep dive . . . An edifying origin story for contemporary Christian conceptions of the afterlife.”—Publishers Weekly From classics such as the Odyssey and the Aeneid to fifth-century Christian apocrypha, narratives that described guided tours of the afterlife played a major role in shaping ancient notions of morality and ethics. In this new account, acclaimed author Bart Ehrman contextualizes early Christian narratives of heaven and hell within the broader intellectual and cultural worlds from which they emerged. He examines how fundamental social experiences of the early Christian communities molded the conceptions of the afterlife that eventuated into the accepted doctrines of heaven, hell, and purgatory. Drawing on Greek and Roman epic poetry, early Jewish writings such as the Book of Watchers, and apocryphal Christian stories including the Acts of Thomas, the Gospel of Nicodemus, and the Apocalypse of Peter, Ehrman demonstrates that ancient tours of the afterlife promoted reflection on matters of ethics, faith, ambition, and life’s meaning, the fruit of which has been codified into Christian belief today.

Heaven Or Hell (Pack Of 25) by Good News Publishers Pdf

Heaven Heaven is not a ghostlike, foggy atmosphere where disembodied spirits float around. Heaven is as real as this earth. Jesus told His disciples, "I go to prepare a place for you" (John 14:2). Paul taught that Christians would have new imperishable bodies (1 Corinthians 15:51-57). Again, contrary to many popular ideas, Heaven is not dull. The things that are killjoys on earth--selfishness, hatred, death--all will be gone. Heaven will not be a place where we sit around with nothing to do. The Bible suggests that Heaven will be a place for dynamic, creative and untiring activity, but without toil and fatigue (Revelation 21:1-7). Heaven will also be a place of intellectual stimulation. Here we "see through a glass darkly," but there, "face to face," we shall see God (1 Corinthians 13:12). Are you going? Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.... He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life" (John 14:6; 5:24). Hell Jesus and the New Testament writers use every image in their power to tell us that Hell is real, terrible, something to be feared and avoided at all costs. Never forget that the talk about outer darkness and the lake of fire came from Jesus, who died to save us. In His parable of the last judgment Jesus taught that some would go to eternal punishment, some to eternal life (Matthew 25:46). In other words, Hell will be as real and lasting as Heaven. The most frightening thing about Hell is that it is spiritual separation from God, moral remorse, the consciousness that one deserves what he is getting. Hell is total separation from the love, joy, and peace that come from God. Are you going? "He that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him" (John 3:36). "The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; and shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth" (Matthew 13:41-42). Which will you choose? You must decide where you will spend eternity. Jesus Christ has paid the full penalty for your sins on the cross. "Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God" (1 Peter 3:18). Now you must come to Him just as you are--a guilty sinner unable to save yourself. Commit your life to Christ today! You can pray something like this: God, thank You for sending Jesus to take the punishment for my sins that I might spend eternity in Heaven with You. I turn from my sin and invite You into my life to be my Lord and Savior. In Jesus' name, amen. Portions of this text were written by Leighton Ford. (c)1974 Campus Crusade for Christ, Inc. Heaven Or Hell, Your Choice, God's Decision by Washington Pdf

What is awaiting you after you close your eyes to open them in the eternity? What is awaiting you after your body returns to the dust of the earth? Is there a heaven and is there a hell that awaits your destination? Discussions concerning is heaven real or is hell real has become "void" in the church's pulpits today. Many that are talking about heaven is not going to walk through one of those pearly gates and many that are refusing to address the topic of hell is going to be surprised. The Biblical standards of this topic is not being addressed according to the Word of God. Yes, Virginia, there is a heaven and there is a hell. It is your choice; however, it is God's decision where each dwell in eternity. Always remember as you read this book, "Heaven is the place to go; Hell is too hot, and Eternity is too long." Looking at heaven and hell in this book, will help you realize and give you time to think about the end, "God's Decision." Everyone wants to leave God out of the equation, but He is the equation. At our birth, we had an appointment with life and at our death, we have an appointment with death. Life and death walk hand in hand with us throughout their lives with each waking day. Sometimes they separate, we have good days and we have bad days. Then one day, they come together for the last time. Life and death will have a quarrel and on that final day, death will win because the God the equation has spoken, it is appointed unto man once to die and then the judgment (decision), Hebrews 9:27. Heaven and hell is not a figment of your imagination, they are real.
