The poems speak of an intense spiritual quest.' - Dr. Karan Singh, Crown Prince of the erstwhile Princely State of Jammu & Kashmir, eminent statesman, philanthropist and poet. These Poems are brimming with love. After reading a few, the words start disappearing. A feel and a trance remains. I could constantly hear the notes of a flute from a distance. Jeremiad Jottings by Blaise Cronin Pdf

In his Jeremiad Jottings, Blaise Cronin presents a collection of essays that touch upon a range of issues, spanning from affirmative action to academic dress. Tackling the ever-increasing power that "political correctness" holds in institutions of higher education, Cronin defines its influence by writing op-ed style essays delving into sometimes highly divisive topics from recents news and events. His essays encompass light-hearted topics such as "Mangled Metaphors," pointing to the advertisement industry's use of metaphors, and more popularly serious issues in "Burned Any Good Books Lately?", an essay dealing with book burning. Although easily approachable by the non-scholar, each of Cronin's essays is abundant with references that will lead any reader to the right area of interest if necessary. Cronin's light tone and clear presentation will appeal to many readers.

Life by Keith Richards Pdf

The long-awaited autobiography of Keith Richards, guitarist, songwriter, singer, and founding member of the Rolling Stones. With The Rolling Stones, Keith Richards created the songs that roused the world, and he lived the original rock and roll life. Now, at last, the man himself tells his story of life in the crossfire hurricane. Listening obsessively to Chuck Berry and Muddy Waters records, learning guitar and forming a band with Mick Jagger and Brian Jones. The Rolling Stones's first fame and the notorious drug busts that led to his enduring image as an outlaw folk hero. Creating immortal riffs like the ones in "Jumping Jack Flash" and "Honky Tonk Women." His relationship with Anita Pallenberg and the death of Brian Jones. Tax exile in France, wildfire tours of the U.S., isolation and addiction. Falling in love with Patti Hansen. Estrangement from Jagger and subsequent reconciliation. Marriage, family, solo albums and Xpensive Winos, and the road that goes on forever. With his trademark disarming honesty, Keith Richard brings us the story of a life we have all longed to know more of, unfettered, fearless, and true.

Boris Pasternak by Christopher Barnes Pdf

This authoritative new biography of the Russian poet and prose writer Boris Pasternak is the first part of a two-volume set, covering the period 1890-1928. Drawing on archives and many eyewitness accounts, Barnes' study sheds light on currently unexplored aspects of Pasternak's character and family background, and his artistic, social and historical environment. He combines biographical investigation with detailed textual analysis of translated quotations in verse and prose to reveal the source of Pasternak's extraordinary writings. The book examines a wide range of topics that include his musical enthusiasm and relations with Scriabin, his philosophical studies, his activities in World War I and his response to the 1917 revolutions, and his stance as a liberal artistic intellectual in the 1920s.

Early Poems and Fragments, 1785-1797 by William Wordsworth Pdf

This volume is made up of work from the beginning of Wordsworth's career, when he was a Hawkshead schoolboy, until the end of his time at Racedown in mid-1797. Like other volumes in The Cornell Wordsworth series, this book is based on detailed study of the relevant manuscripts. Each poem or fragment is accompanied by a headnote that explains that item's provenance among the manuscripts and examines its literary or biographical background. Most of the work in this volume was never published in Wordsworth's lifetime. (Early works that appear in other volumes of The Cornell Wordsworth have been omitted, but all other work from Wordsworth's early manuscripts, whether a finished piece or a mere jotting, has been included.)The editors draw heavily on seventeen notebooks or other manuscripts. Fifteen of them are presented in photographic copies; all are described fully in bibliographical terms. Although some writing from the notebooks has appeared in print since the poet's death in 1850, the Landon and Curtis edition supersedes earlier versions in thoroughness and overall reliability. The editors present a plausible new organization of the Vale of Esthwaite materials, an improved sequential versions of the two dirges written at Cambridge, and a substantially enlarged text of the Wordsworth-Wrangham "Imitation of Juvenal." The incomplete "Greyhound Ballad" is one of several fragments appearing in print for the first time. For more information, please visit the Cornell Wordsworth series website at http: //CornellWordsworth.BookPub.net

Handbook of Research on Global Institutional Roles for Inclusive Development by Baporikar, Neeta Pdf

With the history of multilateral governance and the impact of the global pandemic, there is no doubt that we are at a transition between the system that marked the decades after the Second World War and a more extensive system of international governance that will characterize the world for the next generation. That system may keep the long-standing promise to serve the world's least advantaged, or it may serve to marginalize them further. For more than a century and a half, the most powerful national governments have created institutions of multilateral governance that promise to make a more inclusive world, a world serving women, working people, the colonized, the “backward,” the destitute, and the despised. That promise and the real impact need deliberation and discussion. The Handbook of Research on Global Institutional Roles for Inclusive Development examines the concepts that have powerfully influenced development policy and, more broadly, examines the role of ideas in these institutions and how they have affected the current development discourse. It enhances the understanding of how these ideas travel within systems and how they are translated into policy, modified, distorted, or resisted. Covering topics such as ethical consumption, academic migration, and sustainable global capitalism, this book is an essential resource for government officials, activists, management, academicians, researchers, students and educators of higher education, and educational administration and faculty.

Split by Lisa Michaels Pdf

In this "disarmingly amiable reminiscence" (The Atlantic Monthly) that "may be the best argument for the left since Marx" (The New Yorker), poet and writer Lisa Michaels blends memoir with social commentary to tell a remarkable tale of growing up as a child of political activists during the early seventies. Michaels's upbringing was marked by communes, rallies, and road trips; as a young girl she traveled across the country with her mother and stepfather in a customized mail truck, complete with a wood stove, while her father spent two years in jail for his part in an antiwar protest. Raised in a rural California town, Michaels craved conformity, but eventually she came to share many of her parents' long-held values. By a writer of uncommon perception, SPLIT offers "a rare glimpse of a life that embodies a time" (Vogue).
