Contemporary Ring Theory 2011 by Jin Yong Kim,Chan Huh,Yang Lee,Tai Keun Kwak Pdf

The study of noncommutative rings is a major area in modern algebra. The structure theory of noncommutative rings was originally concerned with three parts: The study of semi-simple rings; the study of radical rings; and the construction of rings with given radical and semi-simple factor rings. Recently, this has extended to many new parts: The zero-divisor theory, containing the study of coefficients of zero-dividing polynomials and the study of annihilators over noncommutative rings, that is related to the Köthe's conjecture; the study of nil rings and Jacobson rings; the study of applying ring-theoretic properties to modules; representation theory; the study of relations between algebraic and concepts of other branches (for example, analytic and topological), etc. Thus, noncommutative rings are ubiquitous in mathematics, and occur in numerous sciences. This volume consists of a collection of original articles refereed by world experts that was presented at the Sixth China–Japan–Korea International Conference on Ring Theory. These articles exhibit new ideas, tools and techniques needed for successful research and investigation in noncommutative ring theory, and show the trend of current research. It is a useful resource book for beginners and advanced experts in ring theory. This volume contains the proceedings of the Ring Theory Session in honor of T. Y. Lam's 70th birthday, at the 31st Ohio State-Denison Mathematics Conference, held from May 25-27, 2012, at The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. Included are expository articles and research papers covering topics such as cyclically presented modules, Eggert's conjecture, the Mittag-Leffler conditions, clean rings, McCoy rings, QF rings, projective and injective modules, Baer modules, and Leavitt path algebras. Graduate students and researchers in many areas of algebra will find this volume valuable as the papers point out many directions for future work; in particular, several articles contain explicit lists of open questions.

Theory Of Clean Rings And Matrices by Huanyin Chen,Marjan Sheibani Abdolyousefi Pdf

This is the first monograph devoted to clean ring and matrix theory. It aims to study a theory of expressing an element in a ring as the sum of some special ones, such as idempotents, units, nilpotents, tripotents, involutions, etc. A matrix over such rings is thereby expressed as the sum of some special matrices. Also another topics on the behaviors of topological properties and *-properties of such rings are investigated. The book is based on the results of various published papers, particularly, by the authors'. It is accessible for students familiar with general abstract algebra, while the topics are interesting for researchers in the field of ring, matrix and operator theory.

Rings and Categories of Modules by Frank W. Anderson,Kent R. Fuller Pdf

This book is intended to provide a reasonably self-contained account of a major portion of the general theory of rings and modules suitable as a text for introductory and more advanced graduate courses. We assume the famil iarity with rings usually acquired in standard undergraduate algebra courses. Our general approach is categorical rather than arithmetical. The continuing theme of the text is the study of the relationship between the one-sided ideal structure that a ring may possess and the behavior of its categories of modules. Following a brief outline of set-theoretic and categorical foundations, the text begins with the basic definitions and properties of rings, modules and homomorphisms and ranges through comprehensive treatments of direct sums, finiteness conditions, the Wedderburn-Artin Theorem, the Jacobson radical, the hom and tensor functions, Morita equivalence and duality, de composition theory of injective and projective modules, and semi perfect and perfect rings. In this second edition we have included a chapter containing many of the classical results on artinian rings that have hdped to form the foundation for much of the contemporary research on the representation theory of artinian rings and finite dimensional algebras. Both to illustrate the text and to extend it we have included a substantial number of exercises covering a wide spectrum of difficulty. There are, of course" many important areas of ring and module theory that the text does not touch upon.

Contemporary Tourist Experience by Richard Sharpley,Philip Stone Pdf

This significant and timely volume aims to provide a focused analysis into tourist experiences that reflect their ever-increasing diversity and complexity, and their significance and meaning to tourists themselves. Written by leading international scholars, it offers new insight into emergent behaviours, motivations and sought meanings on the part of tourists based on five contemporary themes determined by current research activity in tourism experience:conceptualization of tourist experience; dark tourism experiences; the relationship between motivation and the contemporary tourist experience; the manner in which tourist experience can be influenced and enhanced by place; and how managers and suppliers can make a significant contribution to the tourist experience. The book critically explores these experiences from multidisciplinary perspectives and includes case studies from wide range of geographical regions. By analyzing these contemporary tourist experiences, the book will provide further understanding of the consumption of tourism.

Contemporary Jewish Writing by Andrea Reiter Pdf

This book examines Jewish writers and intellectuals in Austria, analyzing filmic and electronic media alongside more traditional publication formats over the last 25 years. Beginning with the Waldheim affair and the rhetorical response by the three most prominent members of the survivor generation (Leon Zelman, Simon Wiesenthal and Bruno Kreisky) author Andrea Reiter sets a complicated standard for ‘who is Jewish’ and what constitutes a ‘Jewish response.’ She reformulates the concepts of religious and secular Jewish cultural expression, cutting across gender and Holocaust studies. The work proceeds to questions of enacting or performing identity, especially Jewish identity in the Austrian setting, looking at how these Jewish writers and filmmakers in Austria ‘perform’ their Jewishness not only in their public appearances and engagements but also in their works. By engaging with novels, poems, and films, this volume challenges the dominant claim that Jewish culture in Central Europe is almost exclusively borne by non-Jews and consumed by non-Jewish audiences, establishing a new counter-discourse against resurging anti-Semitism in the media.

Ring Theory, 83 by Louis H. Rowen Pdf

This is an abridged edition of the author's previous two-volume work, Ring Theory, which concentrates on essential material for a general ring theory course while ommitting much of the material intended for ring theory specialists. It has been praised by reviewers:**"As a textbook for graduate students, Ring Theory joins the best....The experts will find several attractive and pleasant features in Ring Theory. The most noteworthy is the inclusion, usually in supplements and appendices, of many useful constructions which are hard to locate outside of the original sources....The audience of nonexperts, mathematicians whose speciality is not ring theory, will find Ring Theory ideally suited to their needs....They, as well as students, will be well served by the many examples of rings and the glossary of major results."**--NOTICES OF THE AMS

Ring Constructions and Applications by Andrei V. Kelarev Pdf

This book contains the definitions of several ring constructions used in various applications. The concept of a groupoid-graded ring includes many of these constructions as special cases and makes it possible to unify the exposition. Recent research results on groupoid-graded rings and more specialized constructions are presented. In addition, there is a chapter containing open problems currently considered in the literature. Ring Constructions and Applications can serve as an excellent introduction for graduate students to many ring constructions as well as to essential basic concepts of group, semigroup and ring theories used in proofs.
