Cupid's Quest by Lori Soard Pdf

The only life Gracie has ever known has been the nursing home and the residents who are like family to her. Now, she risks losing it all and her friends scattering to different homes if she can’t come up with the money to save the business. Between caring for his ailing mother and running the family farm, Brandt is stretched thin. Too thin. When his mother begs him to enter a local scavenger hunt, win the prize money, and convert the farm into an orchard, he knows he can’t refuse her anything, so he reluctantly agrees. While seeking clues to the scavenger hunt, Gracie and Brandt keep bumping into each other. Gracie’s always had a crush on him that keeps her from stringing two coherent words together. Brandt doesn’t understand why she dislikes him so much she won’t even talk to him. If the nursing home residents would settle down and stop getting into crazy shenanigans long enough, the two might figure out that they have more than a little in common.

Cupid's Quest Season Two by Pru Warren Pdf

Cupid's Quest Season Two is definitely not your typical romantic comedy!I stopped in front of a display of headshots pinned to a board. This season's Cupid's Quest contestants. And right in the middle, my photo. I stabbed it with my finger. "And no more adorable red curls! I don't want to be known as The Redhead, for god's sake! I'm a great comic. I have dirt. I have grit. I can go through depression, just like the greats!"Knox Dobiecki was the fan favorite in Season One of Cupid's Quest, the new hit adventure reality show-but that didn't help him land any gigs as a stand-up comic. Offered the chance to return to the show, Knox is determined to change his cute boy-next-door image.Lie, cheat, steal? No problem. Sex with willing contestants? Absolutely. Maybe a fist-fight with one of the smaller male contestants, if it wouldn't hurt too much? Hm. Maybe. But Knox's sweetheart reputation has preceded him, and Cupid's Quest voters pair him with Edwina, the straight-laced girl next door. How's he supposed to look tough now? From the northern lights to the Amazon River and beyond, Knox must find out what's really important. Is it building a bad boy reputation? Winning the competition? Realizing that maybe Edwina is a lot cooler than he thought? Cupid's Quest Season Two is just as funny, startling, and sexy as the first season!

Women, Epic, and Transition in British Romanticism by Elisa Beshero-Bondar Pdf

Women, Epic, and Transition in British Romanticism argues that early nineteenth-century women poets contributed some of the most daring work in modernizing the epic genre. The book examines several long poems to provide perspective on women poets working with and against men in related efforts, contributing together to a Romantic movement of large-scale genre revision. Women poets challenged longstanding categorical approaches to gender and nation in the epic tradition, and they raised politically charged questions about women's importance in moments of historical crisis.

Faulkner’s Reception of Apuleius’ The Golden Ass in The Reivers by Vernon L. Provencal Pdf

Faulkner's final novel, The Reivers, has been gently dismissed by scholars and critics as no more than its subtitle claims, A Reminiscence. Although the new millennium has seen a new appreciation for Faulkner's later novels, The Reivers is still perceived as a slightly fictionalized comic memoir romanticizing the early life of the author in the pre-civil rights American South. This volume takes this dismissal of The Reivers to task for failing to appreciate its employment of the Apuleian narrative of life-altering metamorphosis to offer, as his literary farewell, hope for humanity's self-redemption. Vernon L. Provencal studies the reception of The Golden Ass in The Reivers as comic novels of moral katabasis (wilful descent into the lawless underworld) and providential anabasis (societal and spiritual redemption). As the independent basis of the reception study, The Reivers receives its first ever detailed reading, while The Golden Ass is read anew from the teleological perspective offered by the (undervalued) prophecy that in the end the comic hero would become the book itself.

Apuleius: Cupid and Psyche by Apuleius Pdf

Apuleius' story of Cupid and Psyche, the relationship of the human Soul with divine Love, is one of the great allegories of world literature. It forms an integral part of and profoundly illuminates the message of his novel Metamorphoses or The Golden Ass, which relates the adventures of a young man and his spiritual fall and redemption. To enrich and deepen his basic plot, the origins of which are obscure, Apuleius has combined poetic sources, Platonic philosophy and popular iconography in an unprecedented tour de force of literary creation. This edition sensitively elucidates the subtle art with which this transformation has been accomplished, and comprehensively illustrates both Apuleius' inventive handling of his various models and sources and the exuberant and idiosyncratic Latinity with forms the vehicle for it. It places in a fresh light the results of recent work on the ancient Novel and on Apuleius himself, and offers a stimulating, occasionally provocative, reading of his much-discussed text. The Latin is accompanied by a facing English translation, making the edition more accessible to students of comparative literature as well as to classicists.
