Cupid's Soldier by Cayenne A. Rose Pdf

About the Book Seline Winters is a seventeen-year-old, self-proclaimed relationship expert. She has her own blog dedicated to passionately teaching people what she believes love, in a relationship, should really be like. Love is something she takes really seriously, so when someone she thinks would be the last person to ask for her help does just that... she shuts him down harshly. Austen Hendrikson is everything Seline despises in a boy. He's rude, arrogant, has terrible anger issues, and treats people like dirt. Nothing in the world could make her trust him with anyone's love life. Yet through their own rough circumstances, they end up bonding. Who she thought could only be seen as a delinquent has a much softer side that she finds herself drawn to. About the Author Cayenne A. Rose, is a college student. Her favorite things to do have been writing and reading books since she was a baby. As young as thirteen years old, she was uploading books onto Wattpad. A Southern Soldier's Letters Home by Samuel Augustus Burney Pdf

Samuel A. Burney, born in April 1840, was the son of Thomas Jefferson Burney and Julia Shields Burney. He graduated from Mercer University (then at Penfield, Georgia) in 1860. He joined the Panola Guards, an infantry component of Thomas R. R. Cobb's Georgia Legion, in July 1861. For the next four years he served in the Army of Northern Virginia both in Virginia and in Tennessee. Burney was wounded at Chancellorsville in May 1863, and as a result of his wound he was placed in disability in March 1864 and served the remainder of the war on commissary duty in southwest Georgia. After the war, Burney returned to Mercer's school of theology, was ordained into the Baptist ministry, and served as pastor of several churches in Morgan County. He was pastor of the Madison Baptist Church until shortly before his death in 1896. These letters of a college graduate written to his wife, Sarah Elizabeth Shepherd Burney are lyrical and beautifully written. Burney describes battles, camp life, theology, and the day-to-day dreariness of life in the army. This is an astounding collection of letters for anyone interested in the Civil War, or the South.

Ancient Rome in Early Opera by Robert Ketterer Pdf

The major historians of ancient Rome wrote their works in the firm belief that the exalted history of the Roman Empire provided plentiful lessons about individual behavior, inspiration for great souls, and warnings against evil ambitions, not to mention opportunities for rich comedy. The examples of Rome have often been resurrected for the opera stage to display the exceptional grandeur, glory, and tragedy of Roman figures. In this volume, Robert C. Ketterer tracks the changes as operas’ Roman subjects crossed generations and national boundaries. Following opera from its origins in seventeenth-century Venice to Napoleon’s invasion of Italy, Ketterer shows how Roman history provided composers with all the necessary courage and intrigue, love and honor, and triumph and defeat so vital for the stirring music that makes great opera.

When the volume Poetae Tres Elegantissimi was produced at Paris in 1582, the poets included were Joannes Secundus, Michelle Marullo and Girolamo Angeriano, represented by his best-known work, the Eropaegnion, orginally published in Florence in 1512, which had come to enjoy particular popularity in France and had exercised a considerable influence on vernacular literature there. All 199 poems (with the few alternative versions) are assembled from the various sixteenth century editions in a newly edited Latin text. Each poem translated into English prose; substantial commentary.

Love Poems, Letters, and Remedies of Ovid by Ovid Ovid Pdf

Widely praised for his translations of Boethius and Ariosto, esteemed translator David R. Slavitt here returns to Ovid, once again bringing to the contemporary ear the spirited, idiomatic, audacious charms of this master poet. The love here described is of the anguished, ruinous kind, like a sickness, and Ovid prescribes cures.
