The Ninth International Workshop on Foundations of Models and Languages for Data and Objects (FoMLaDO) took place in Dagstuhl Germany, Sept- ber 18{21, 2000. The topic of this workshop was Database schema Evolution and Meta-Modeling; this FoMLaDO Workshop was hence assigned the acronym DEMM 2000. These post-proceedings contain the revised versions of the accepted papers of the DEMM 2000 workshop. Twelve regular papers were accepted for inclusion in the proceedings. The papers address the following issues: { Consistency of evolving concurrent information systems { Adaptive speci cations of technical information systems { Change propagation in schema evolution of object-based systems { Evolving software of a schema evolution system { Logical characterization of schema evolution { Con?ict management in integrated databases { Evolving relation schemas { Conceptual descriptions of adaptive information systems { OQL-extensions for metadata access { Metamodeling of schema evolution { Metrics for conceptual schema evolution { Incremental datawarehouse construction In addition to the regular papers, there is an invited paper by Can Turk ̈ er on schema evolution in SQL99 and (object-)relational databases. Acknowledgements: We wish to thank the program committee members for their work on reviewing the submitted papers. We also wish to thank all a- hors for submitting papers to this workshop. Moreover, all participants of the workshop are thanked for contributing to lively discussions. Thanks also to Elke Rundensteiner, who delivered an invited talk on the SERF-project concerning ?exible database transformations.

Conceptual Modeling - ER 2004 by Paolo Atzeni,Wesley Chu,Hongjun Lu,Shuigeng Zhou,Tok Wang Ling Pdf

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we would like to welcome you to the proccedings of the 23rd International Conference on Conceptual Modeling (ER 2004). This conference provided an international forum for technical discussion on conceptual modeling of information systems among researchers, developers and users. This was the third time that this conference was held in Asia; the?rst time was in Singapore in 1998 and the second time was in Yokohama, Japan in 2001. China is the third largest nation with the largest population in the world. Shanghai, the largest city in China and a great metropolis, famous in Asia and throughout the world, is therefore a most appropriate location to host this conference. This volume contains papers selected for presentation and includes the two keynote talks by Prof. Hector Garcia-Molina and Prof. Gerhard Weikum, and an invited talk by Dr. Xiao Ji. This volume also contains industrial papers and demo/poster papers. An additional volume contains papers from 6 workshops. The conference also featured three tutorials: (1) Web Change Management andDelta Mining: Opportunities andSolutions, by SanjayMadria, (2)A Survey of Data Quality Issues in Cooperative Information Systems, by Carlo Batini, and (3) Visual SQL - An ER-Based Introduction to Database Programming, by Bernhard Thalheim.

This volume contains the proceedings of the Second International Conference on Advances in Information Systems (ADVIS) held in Izmir, Turkey, 23–25 October 2002. This conference was dedicated to the memory of Prof. Esen Ozkarahan. He was a great researcher who made an essential contribution to the development of information systems. Prof. Ozkarahan was one of the pioneers of database machine research and database systems in Turkey. This conference was organized by the Computer Engineering department of Dokuz Eylul University in Izmir. This department was established in 1994 by Prof. Ozkarahan and he worked there for the last ?ve years of his life. The main goal of the conference was to bring together researchers from all around the world working in di?erent areas of information systems, to share new ideas and present their latest results. This time we received 94 submissions from 27 countries. The program committee selected 40 papers for presentation at the conference. During the conference a workshop was organized on the topic “New Information Technologies in Education”. The invited and accepted cont- butions cover a large variety of topics: general aspects of information systems, databases and data warehouses, information retrieval, multiagent systems and technologies, distributed and parallel computing, evolutionary algorithms and system programming, and new information technologies in education. The success of the conference was dependent upon the hard work of a large number of people. We gratefully acknowledge the members of the Program C- mittee who helped to coordinate the process of refereeing all submitted papers.
