Destiny’s Gamble by Jenn Shell Pdf

Destiny Moretti is, by all standards, a lucky woman. Born into a family who possesses both great wealth and power, she is loved and has the world at her feet. She knows how to get what she wants from life, and many consider her to be blessed. But what Destiny desires most is to be able to spend her life with the man she loves. If only she had been allowed to marry him. On Thanksgiving Day in 1941, the Moretti and Rossi families gather to share a splendid holiday feast. Snow dances outside, but inside, even the crackling fire cannot banish the chill from Destiny’s peace of mind. Terrible things are just out of sight; she just knows it. Destiny promises herself that she will not allow her growing anxiety to consume her joy on this festive night. Out of love and respect for her parents, she vows to make a sincere effort to be happy. But in the pit of her stomach, fear of the darkest magnitude has settled in. She has also recently learned the reasons behind her father’s lifelong despair. If she can find the strength to perform one simple but gigantic deed, she will have the power to resolve his problem. Destiny must now make some big decisions. Will she find the strength to change her own fate? Can she do the unthinkable and leave her wealthy husband? And what will happen if she gambles with her own heart?

Blood Feud by Twain Gamble Pdf

Extracted from Volume 14 of the Gamble family archives, Blood Feud recounts the harrowing trials and tribulations of the seven Gamble siblings as they are attacked by an unknown and merciless enemy. Flying into the Turks and Caicos Islands to visit Nolan, their mysterious older brother, Adam, Aleta, and Twain Gamble (the author) are assaulted by armed gunmen intent on blood. Meanwhile, halfway around the world, on a volunteer mission in the Philippines, Destiny Gamble is kidnapped by Islamist Terrorist. Certain that the two attacks are related, Nolan Gamble soon discovers that the connection lies in a secret from his past, a secret that should have stayed buried. Now, the desperate Gamble siblings must band together to protect each other and to save sister Destiny from becoming the latest casualty in a bitter and violent blood feud. Blood Feud is the first public release of material from the Gamble family archives. The archives contain the history of the over-achieving, notoriously wealthy Gamble family siblings as well as the unlikely union of their idiosyncratic, seventh-grade-dropout father and their Harvard-Radcliffe valedictorian, to-the-manor born mother.

Responding to the Sacred by Michael Bernard-Donals,Kyle Jensen Pdf

With language we name and define all things, and by studying our use of language, rhetoricians can provide an account of these things and thus of our lived experience. The concept of the sacred, however, raises the prospect of the existence of phenomena that transcend the human and physical and cannot be expressed fully by language. The sacred thus reveals limitations of rhetoric. Featuring essays by some of the foremost scholars of rhetoric working today, this wide-ranging collection of theoretical and methodological studies takes seriously the possibility of the sacred and the challenge it poses to rhetorical inquiry. The contributors engage with religious rhetorics—Jewish, Jesuit, Buddhist, pagan—as well as rationalist, scientific, and postmodern rhetorics, studying, for example, divination in the Platonic tradition, Thomas Hobbes’s and Walter Benjamin’s accounts of sacred texts, the uncanny algorithms of Big Data, and Hélène Cixous’s sacred passages and passwords. From these studies, new definitions of the sacred emerge—along with new rhetorical practices for engaging with the sacred. This book provides insight into the relation of rhetoric and the sacred, showing the capacity of rhetoric to study the ineffable but also shedding light on the boundaries between them. In addition to the editors, the contributors to this volume include Michelle Ballif, Jean Bessette, Trey Conner, Richard Doyle, David Frank, Daniel M. Gross, Kevin Hamilton, Cynthia Haynes, Steven Mailloux, James R. Martel, Jodie Nicotra, Ned O’Gorman, and Brooke Rollins.

Destiny's Heir by Y. M. Roger Pdf

Chicalia Prime: a planet whose population is divided between the Light and the Dark – designations denoting physical attributes and nothing else. It is a small and insignificant planet with a plethora of political problems. However, the intricate aftermath to the climax of those problems has spent the last fifty neras or so weaving itself into the fabric of the over-arching authority – the Galactic Fleet – and the purviews thereof. And while it is becoming increasingly evident that there are other forces working against the Fleet yet simultaneous to those intricacies, it is clear that the offspring of Chicalia’s political problems and those loyal to them and their causes will completely re-shape the government of the Fleet – transferring the Fleet’s seat of power from Galactica Triune to the soon-to-be not-so-insignificant Chicalia Prime. One of those intricacies, Captain Shanteela Ka-Lantrel – or Kaylen to her close friends – in command of the Fleet’s crown jewel, Destiny, knows nothing of the Royal blood that runs through her veins. But Kaylen’s destiny along with those under her command have become entwined with that of another – the exiled OverLord Assassin Thetuderal “Thetu” Shaliagn – and his many brothers in arms. So, as life still continues back on Chicalia Prime, it seems the future of the Fleet and, therefore, the galaxy, is being prophetically and passionately unlocked with Thetu and Kaylen at its epi-center. “Out of the ashes of a flawed foundation and damaged framework, Sha’Hylira shall raise an invincible government that will proclaim His name to the far corners of the universe.”
