Report on the International Strategy of Deutsche Bank Group by Artur Gleyberman Pdf

Seminar paper from the year 2009 in the subject Business economics - Investment and Finance, grade: 55%, Nottingham Trent University, language: English, abstract: This report critically evaluates Deutsche Banks’ (DB) international strategy and business environment, concentrating on DB’s universal bank strategy inside the European region. DB’s international business environment is analysed through the application of PEST Analysis and Porters 5 Forces frameworks. Analysis of DB’s international strategy includes evaluation of DB’s strategic positioning and orientation, entry strategy and finally measuring strategic performance. The latter is achieved by applying the Balance Scorecard Concept together with the features of SWOT Analysis, finally resulting in several recommendations for improvement of DB’s international operations. The applied business theories and concepts are critically examined in the course of their adoption. The major finding of the report is that although the highly competitive industrial environment and global financial crisis, DB’s strategic management has: achieved good results in positioning DB as a leader in universal banking in Europe as well as around the world; low efficiency and low profitability relative to its main competitors; suffered high share value losses due to the financial crisis as well as its own failures in risk management, but remained stable and credible backed by its strong global franchise. Given that, DB has a strong potential to learn from the crisis, improve its former failures and come out stronger from this crisis.

Jurisdiction and Arbitration Agreements in International Commercial Law by Zheng Sophia Tang Pdf

Arbitration and jurisdiction agreements are frequently used in transnational commercial contracts to reduce risk, gain efficacy and acquire certainty and predictability. Because of the similarities between these two types of procedural autonomy agreements, they are often treated in a similar way by courts and practitioners. This book offers a comprehensive study of the prerequisites, effectiveness, and enforcement of exclusive jurisdiction and arbitration agreements in international dispute resolution. It examines whether jurisdiction and arbitration clauses have identical effects in private international law and whether they have been or should be given the same treatment by most countries in the world. By comparing the treatment of these clauses in the US, China, UK and EU, Zheng Sophia Tang demonstrates how, in practice, exclusive jurisdiction and arbitration agreements are enforced. The book considers whether the Hague Convention on Choice of Court Agreements could be treated as a litigating counterpart to the New York Convention, and whether it could work successfully to facilitate judicial cooperation and party autonomy in international commerce. This book breaks new ground in combining updated materials in EU, US and UK law with unique resources on Chinese law and practice. It will be valuable for academics and practitioners working in the field of private international law and international arbitration.

Globalizing Central Asia by Marlene Laruelle,Sebastien Peyrouse Pdf

In this global era, Central Asia must be understood in both geo-economic and geopolitical terms. The region's natural resources compel the attention of rivalrous great powers and ambitious internal factions. The local regimes are caught between the need for international collaborations to valorize these riches and the need to maintain control over them in the interest of state sovereignty. Russia and China dominate the horizon, with other global players close behind; meanwhile, neighboring countries are fractious and unstable with real potential for contagion. This pathbreaking introduction to Central Asia in contemporary international economic and political context answers the needs of both academic and professional audiences and is suitable for course adoption.

Global Financial Contagion by Shalendra D. Sharma Pdf

This book is an authoritative account of the economic and political roots of the 2008 financial crisis. It examines why it was triggered in the United States, why it morphed into the Great Recession, and why the contagion spread with such ferocity around the globe. It also examines how and why economies - including the Eurozone, Russia, China, India, East Asia, and the Middle East - have been impacted and explores their response to the unprecedented challenges of the crisis and the effectiveness of their policy measures. Global Financial Contagion specifically looks at how the Obama administration's policy missteps have contributed to America's huge debt and slow recovery, why the Eurozone's response to its existential crisis has become a never-ending saga, and why the G-20's efforts to create a new international financial architecture may fall short. This book will long be regarded as the standard account of the crisis and its aftermath.

Asian Perspectives on Financial Sector Reforms and Regulation by Masahiro Kawai,Eswar S. Prasad Pdf

A Brookings Institution Press and Asian Development Bank Institute Although emerging economies as a group performed well during the global recession, weathering the recession better than advanced economies, there were sharp differences among them and across regions. The emerging economies of Asia had the most favorable outcomes, surviving the ravages of the global financial crisis with relatively modest declines in growth rates in most cases. China and India maintained strong growth during the crisis and played an important role in facilitating global economic recovery. In this informative volume, the second in a series on emerging markets, editors Masahiro Kawai and Eswar Prasad and the contributors analyze the major domestic macroeconomic and financial policy issues that could limit the growth potential of Asian emerging markets, such as rising inflation and surging capital inflows, with the accompanying risks of asset and credit market bubbles and of rapid currency appreciation. The book examines strategies to promote financial stability, including reforms for financial market development and macroprudential supervision and regulation.
