Disruptive Leadership by Rich Kao Pdf

Disruptive leadership is a topic generating intense interest. Companies all over the world are trying to upend their industry through innovative products and services. Becoming a disruptive organization, however, is easier said than done. Even more difficult is being a company that continually disrupts. Is it possible to discern a code for how companies can achieve this? In this highly readable and engaging book, a disruptive leadership framework is proposed in which caring deeply is placed at the center of the model. By turning care into a focal point, a triphasic model is proposed that moves from the personal sphere (individual), to the corporate arena (organizational), and then to the global stage (impact). Nine keys are identified along this path for how companies can realize organizational excellence. While care may seem like a soft concept in the rough and tumble world of business, it is argued how it is actually an inspired manner for providing direction, structure, and know-how that leads to powerful outcomes. Apple is profiled as a leading example of leveraging what is termed the technology of caring deeply. Other companies, such as Nike, IKEA, Zappos, Starbucks are also profiled. Finally, a leadership canvas is provided to help activate the lessons shared in the book.

Leadership In Disruptive Times by Sattar Bawany Pdf

As the business community has learned through the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s more important than ever for leaders to anticipate and plan for the possibility of an unplanned disruptive event. The more prepared you are to manage shocks, the less likely you’ll fall victim to the serious harm a crisis has the potential to inflict. Crisis management is one of several interrelated core disciplines comprising enterprise risk management, along with emergency preparedness, disaster response, business continuity planning, supply chain risk mitigation, and cyber liability prevention. Crisis management practices can help lessen the magnitude of emergencies and disasters while decreasing the uncertainty and anxiety associated with these events. This book provides insights into an understanding of leadership in a new era of radical uncertainty and disruption brought about by other challenges such as climate change, financial crises, terrorism, demographic changes in the labor market, health/disease risk from the pandemic, and rapid developments in innovative digital technologies and its impact on transformation at the workplace.

Three Pillars of Organization and Leadership in Disruptive Times by Peter Wollmann,Frank Kühn,Michael Kempf Pdf

This book, written by an interdisciplinary team of authors, explores the transformation of organizations in today’s volatile, uncertain, and ambiguous (VUCA) world. It demonstrates the need to manage organizations in a dynamic way, and to revisit and in some cases reinvent working and leadership styles that seemed appropriate during past decades and centuries. In turn, the book puts forward a model based on three distinct pillars of organization and leadership to suit disruptive times: the concepts of 'Sustainable Purpose', 'Travelling Organization', and 'Connecting Resources'. These pillars challenge many of our traditional organizational patterns and meet the need for effective transformative approaches.

"Aimed as much at the neophyte as at the insider who questions why IPR Matters in the digital age and the corporates strategies in the digitalized economy, this book, approaches with perspicacity the development of disruptive mechanisms for organizations and the IPR centric leadership. The book is focused on the organizations and a management systems perspective. The book identifies the technical practices and proposes multi-level strategies to promote disruptive leadership and encourage growth. The book then addresses, the fundamentals of innovation and technology governance, from the production of ideas to the distribution of innovative products or services, including prototyping, financing, industrialization, etc. It presents recent challenges, including open innovation, creativity and design thinking, and innovation of business models, placing them in the context of the knowledge and the collaborative economy. The ambition of the book is rather to propose a framework for thought and action to the manager, which is composed of five walls: organizational creativity, intellectual property, financing, manufacturing and design of innovation, brought together under one roof, the business model of the technology. This device in which the manager must fit, is situated in the strategy of his company, and to be embedded in a specific macroeconomic space"--

Risky Business by Linda Henman Pdf

To position an organization for growth, you cannot shy away from disruptive, high-stakes, pivotal decisions about the future. So why DO you? Why do so many smart leaders cringe when they face disruption? Most people think of disruption as negative while some leaders make disruption their goal. Organizational Psychologist Dr. Linda Henman considers both approaches preventable and costly mistakes. The surprising truth about improving anything you do—personally, professionally, publicly, or privately—lies at the intersection of your ability to think abstractly and your willingness to take prudent risks. Drawing on a rich trove of original, cutting-edge research and four decades’ worth of consulting, Henman knows what it takes to succeed in the C-suite. She dispels myths by presenting a clear and compelling summary of what she has observed—and in many cases, helped to create. Her in-the-trenches experiences spurred her to arrive at this conclusion: Myths about leadership have blinded us to what leaders really do. Many leaders believe in the concept of creative disruption but remain skeptical about trusting it. Jam-packed with big ideas, Risky Business arrives just in time—a rare book that will transform the way you think about risk, change the way you view disruption, and help you understand what you must do to think strategically, to grow dramatically, and to do it quickly. Inspiring and revelatory, filled with story-driven narratives and practical takeaways, Risky Business brings together decades of counterintuitive research to shed light on how you can effect change.

Disruptive Leadership and Culture by Marilyn Carroll Pdf

Leaders are individuals who help to create options and opportunities for those they lead. The 21st century leaders face different and more complex types of challenges that cannot be found in the prevailing literature. Disruptive strategy calls for disruptive leadership and this book shares a wide range of disruptive leadership competencies. This research-based contemporary guidebook by Dr. Carroll will serve as a modern-day leadership manual because it is a practical application what she calls the 'Disruptive Work Theory.' The practical examples included in this work are from the incumbent world leaders to inspired tech entrepreneurs and business leaders. The book simply embodies the concept of disruption for success and gives practical solutions to solve current day leadership challenges. Market dynamics and competitive business landscapes call for leaders who can easily adjust to changes due to their view of the actions from a distance and through active involvement of that action. Surviving today's rapidly changing business and economic environments requires members of the organizations to be adaptable, flexible, and ready to change. Change is imperative for both individuals and organizations due to the competitive conditions facing 21st century organizations. Leadership both positional and non-positional is the key to a successful change initiative. A leader capable of handling rapid change must be able to adapt effectively to the pressures and demands of the moment. This type of leadership is known as disruptive leadership. Disruptive leaders provide direction, protection, orientation, conflict control, and the shaping of norms while overseeing the change process within the corporate structure. The goal of this text is to describe the considerations of a disruptive leader that are related to the change management. Evaluate how disruptive leadership factors impact on followers in implementing change. Discuss the various leadership styles used in previous change initiatives. The disruptive leadership style may be the most required approach to support strategic change.

Dual Transformation by Scott D. Anthony,Clark G. Gilbert,Mark W. Johnson Pdf

Game-changing disruptions will likely unfold on your watch. Be ready. In Dual Transformation, Scott Anthony, Clark Gilbert, and Mark Johnson propose a practical and sustainable approach to one of the greatest challenges facing leaders today: transforming your business in the face of imminent disruption. Dual Transformation shows you how your company can come out of a market shift stronger and more profitable, because the threat of disruption is also the greatest opportunity a leadership team will ever face. Disruptive change opens a window of opportunity to create massive new markets. It is the moment when a market also-ran can become a market leader. It is the moment when business legacies are created. That moment starts with the core dual transformation framework: Transformation A: Repositioning today’s business to maximize its resilience, such as how Adobe boldly shifted from selling packaged software to providing software as a service. Transformation B: Creating a new growth engine, such as how Amazon became the world’s largest provider of cloud computing services. Capabilities link: Fighting unfairly by taking advantage of difficult-to-replicate assets without succumbing to the “sucking sound of the core.” Anthony, Gilbert, and Johnson also address the characteristics leaders must embrace: courage, clarity, curiosity, and conviction. Without them, dual transformation efforts can founder. Building on lessons from diverse companies, such as Adobe, Manila Water, and Netflix, and a case study from Gilbert’s firsthand experience transforming his own media and publishing company, Dual Transformation will guide executives through the journey of creating the next version of themselves, allowing them to own the future rather than be disrupted by it.

The Disruption Mindset by Charlene Li Pdf

Many companies make disruption their goal. They believe that if they develop the right innovation, they will disrupt their markets forever and drive the kind of growth worthy of a magazine cover story. But as bestselling author Charlene Li explains, that's not how disruption works. Disruption doesn't create growth; instead, growth creates disruption. Growth is always hard, and disruptive growth is exponentially harder. It requires companies to make tough decisions in the face of daunting uncertainties: Should we bet our company's future on next-generation customers or today's reliable ones? Should we abandon our current business model for an entirely new one? Making bold changes demands bold leadership and, often, massive cultural transformation. Over the years, Li has seen some organizations beat the odds and succeed at becoming disruptive: Adobe, ING Bank, Nokia, Southern New Hampshire University, and T-Mobile, among them. Their stories make it clear that organizations don't have to be tech start-ups or have the latest innovations to transform. What they need to do is develop a disruptive mindset that permeates every aspect of the organization. Li lays out how to do so by focusing on three elements: a strategy designed to meet the needs of future customers; leadership that creates a movement to drive and sustain transformation; and a culture that thrives on disruptive change. Drawing on interviews with some of the most audacious people driving disruptive transformation today, Li will inspire leaders at all levels to answer the call to lead disruptive transformation in their organizations, communities, and society.

The New Leadership Literacies by Bob Johansen Pdf

Over the next decade, today's connected world will be explosively more connected. Anything that can be distributed will be distributed: workforces, organizations, supply webs, and more. The tired practices of centralized organizations will become brittle in a future where authority is radically decentralized. Rigid hierarchies will give way to liquid structures. Most leaders—and most organizations—aren't ready for this future. Are you? It's too late to catch up, but it's a great time to leapfrog. Noted futurist Bob Johansen goes beyond skills and competencies to propose five new leadership literacies—combinations of disciplines, practices, and worldviews—that will be needed to thrive in a VUCA world of increasing volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. This book shows how to (1) forecast likely futures so you can “look back” and make sure you're prepared now for the changes to come, (2) use low-risk gaming spaces to work through your concerns about the future and hone your leadership skills, (3) lead shape-shifting organizations where you can't just tell people what to do, (4) be a dynamic presence even when you're not there in person, and (5) keep your personal energy high and transmit that energy throughout your organization. This visionary book provides a vivid description of the ideal talent profile for future leaders. It is written for current, rising star, and aspiring leaders; talent scouts searching for leaders; and executive coaches seeking a fresh view of how leaders will need to prepare. To get ready for this future, we will all need new leadership literacies.
