Divine Inspiration of the Bible by Arthur Pink Pdf

Pink (1890-1953) was a Baptist Preacher in England, Australia, and the United States. Pink, assisted by his editor Mr. I. Herendeen, launched his yearly publication, Studies in the Scriptures in 1921. These continued until his death, totaling altogether 33 volumes of 288 pp. each. Most of Pink's books are taken from these yearly volumes (written monthly in 24 page format). Arthur Pink declares, ''Christianity is the religion of a Book. Christianity is based upon the impregnable rock of Holy Scripture.., Upon the foundation of the Divine inspiration of the Bible stands or falls the entire edifice of Christian truth. `If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do's' (Psalm 11:3).'' Surrender the dogma of verbal inspiration and you are left like a rudderless ship on a stormy sea, at the mercy of every wind that blows. Deny that the Bible is, without any qualification, the very Word of God, and you are left without any ultimate standard of measurement and without any supreme authority. It is useless to discuss any doctrine taught by the Bible until you are prepared to acknowledge, unreservedly, that the Bible is the final court of appeal. Grant that the Bible is a Divine revelation and communication of God's own mind and will to men, and you have a fixed starting point from which advance can be made into the domain of truth. Grant that the Bible is (in its original manuscripts) inerrant and infallible, and you reach the place where study of its contents is both practicable and profitable. It is impossible to overestimate the importance of the doctrine of the Divine inspiration of Scripture. This is the strategic center of Christian theology, and must be defended at all costs. It is the point at which our satanic enemy is constantly hurling his hellish battalions. The author shows how our need for a revelation from God is strong evince for the reliability of the Bible. He bases his arguments for the Divine inspiration of the Bible on its solid and undeniable internal evidences, on its indestructibility, and on its powerful in influences on human history. The believer wild experience a strengthening of faith, and the seeker will be struck by the reality of God's redeeming work on behalf of fallen humanity.

Divine Inspiration of Scripture by Louis Gaussen Pdf

In 1840, Louis Gaussen shows conclusively that the Bible is entirely from God and can be trusted as his word - our faith may indeed rest secure. The cumulative effect refutes any critic who suggests that the Bible does not claim to be his word for mankind. He also uses the highest possible source, Jesus Christ, to show that the Bible is God's work.

The Divine Inspiration of the Bible by Arthur Pink Pdf

Christianity is the religion of a Book. Christianity is based upon the impregnable rock of Holy Scripture. The starting point of all doctrinal discussion must be the Bible. Upon the foundation of the Divine inspiration of the Bible stands or falls the entire edifice of Christian truth."If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?" (Psalm 11:3). Surrender the dogma of verbal inspiration and you are left like a rudderless ship on a stormy sea-at the mercy of every wind that blows. Deny that the Bible is, without any qualifications, the very Word of God, and you are left without any ultimate standard of measurement and without any supreme authority. Grant that the Bible is a Divine revelation and communication of God's own mind and will to men, and you have a fixed starting point from which advance can be made into the domain of truth. Grant that the Bible is (in its original manuscripts) inerrant and infallible and you reach the place where study of its contents is both practicable and profitable. This book is an important study on the Word of God and its divine inspiration.

Divine Scripture in Human Understanding by Joseph K. Gordon Pdf

In six closely-reasoned chapters, Joseph Gordon presents a detailed account of a Christian doctrine of Scripture in the fullest context of systematic theology. Divine Scripture in Human Understanding addresses the confusing plurality of contemporary approaches to Christian Scripture—both within and outside the academy—by articulating a traditionally grounded, constructive systematic theology of Christian Scripture. Utilizing primarily the methodological resources of Bernard Lonergan and traditional Christian doctrines of Scripture recovered by Henri de Lubac, it draws upon achievements in historical-critical study of Scripture, studies of the material history of Christian Scripture, reflection on philosophical hermeneutics and philosophical and theological anthropology, and other resources to articulate a unified but open horizon for understanding Christian Scripture today. Following an overview of the contemporary situation of Christian Scripture, Joseph Gordon identifies intellectual precedents for the work in the writings of Irenaeus, Origen, and Augustine, who all locate Scripture in the economic work of the God to whom it bears witness by interpreting it through the Rule of Faith. Subsequent chapters draw on Scripture itself; classical sources such as Irenaeus, Origen, Augustine, and Aquinas; the fruit of recent studies on the history of Scripture; and the work of recent scholars and theologians to provide a contemporary Christian articulation of the divine and human locations of Christian Scripture and the material history and intelligibility and purpose of Scripture in those locations. The resulting constructive position can serve as a heuristic for affirming the achievements of traditional, historical-critical, and contextual readings of Scripture and provides a basis for addressing issues relatively underemphasized by those respective approaches.

This document's purpose is to spell out the Church's understanding of the nature of revelation--the process whereby God communicates with human beings. It touches upon questions about Scripture, tradition, and the teaching authority of the Church. The major concern of the document is to proclaim a Catholic understanding of the Bible as the "word of God." Key elements include: Trinitarian structure, roles of apostles and bishops, and biblical reading in a historical context.

What Do We Do With the Bible? by Richard Rohr Pdf

What do we do with the Bible? Does an ancient, sometimes violent and contradictory text that has been used to justify violence, racism, misogyny, homophobia and more, really have anything to teach us today? In this small but powerful book, Richard Rohr explores how we can read the bible in a contemplative and intelligent way. Focusing on Jesus' own method of using the Hebrew Scriptures, he shows us a way of interpreting the Bible that follows God's mercy, inclusion and compassionate justice, and creates a foundation for a hopeful vision from the beginning to the end of time. Warm and accessible, What Do We Do With the Bible? will give you a deeper, more genuine understanding of the Bible and transform your experience of Scripture - whether you are reading the Bible for the first time or returning to it over and over.
