The Decisiveness Of Israeli Small-Unit Leadership On The Golan Heights In The 1973 Yom Kippur War by Major Oakland McCulloch Pdf

This study is an analysis of the decisiveness of Israeli small-unit leadership on the Golan Heights during the 1973 Yom Kippur War. What allowed the Israeli brigades on the Golan Heights to defeat an Arab coalition that launched a surprise attack with a force that vastly outnumbered the Israelis in men, tanks and artillery? The one advantage the Israelis had was the quality of leadership at the small-unit level. This study begins with a brief review of the strategic and operational situation in the Middle East in 1973. This includes background information on the Israeli and Arab forces facing each other on the Golan Heights and their plans for the defense and attack respectfully prior to the start of hostilities. The majority of the thesis discussion is concerned with the actual battle on the Golan Heights. It highlights the contributions that small-unit leadership made during the battle that allowed the vastly outnumbered IDF to destroy a massive Soviet-style Arab army. This portion of the study also looks at the experiences of those Israeli leaders involved in the fighting. The study then looks at leadership from the Israeli perspective. I define what leadership is and why it is important at the small-unit level. I take a close look at how the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) picks and trains its leaders and what role the Israeli Military Culture plays in that process. The conclusion of the thesis is that the IDF was able to fight and win even though surprised and vastly outnumbered due to the quality of leadership at the small-unit level. This lesson may prove to be important still today as the armies of the Western societies continue to get smaller even though they still face the threat of fighting the massive Soviet-style armies of the “Axis of Evil” for decades to come.

Why Jesus Returned by Peter Walton Pdf

For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. - Matthew 12:40 The premise of this book is that during these three days, Jesus was bombarded with images from Satan of future human events, trying to convince him that he should not return to the Earth versus images from God's angels showing him future human events to convince him to return. Here's a few examples of the over forty chapters of the book: "I Wear the Chain I Forged in Life;" "Alone with the Sky, Nature, and God;" "That Others May Live;" "The Evolution Scam;" "Broken Down Computers."

Israel by Edgar S. Marshall Pdf

There has probably never been a country in the history of the world like Israel: the homeland for Jews from all around the world, a visceral enemy of Arab countries, called a client state of the United States, a developed country in its own right by its own hands. Israel has seen many events since its founding in 1948 but peace it has not found. The book examines current issues swirling about Israel as well as presents the historical background necessary for grasping its place in the world today.

Art of Generalship by Lt Gen K K Khanna (Retd) Pdf

History has thrilling accounts of brilliant Generals leading small armies to defeat huge forces of their opponents. Better the Generalship, greater the victories. The Indian Army too has produced many great Generals, who have defeated evil designs of adversaries. Yet they have produced none like Rommel, Manstein, Model, or even like some old Indian warriors like Maharana Pratap, Hari Singh Nalwa, or Zorawar Singh. India can and must produce Generals of that calibre; Generals who don’t just defend territory or restore status quo, but those who annihilate aggressors, to teach memorable lessons to adversaries who transgress, who initiate punitive actions for conventional and nuclear deterrence to be effective. To produce Generals of such calibre, the first step is to understand what is good a Generalship. Then study Generalship in previous conflicts to appreciate achievements and also learn lessons from opportunities missed. Only then the Armed Forces can institute measures to improve the quality of Generalship for the future. This book is written to facilitate such study, in that order.
