Dynamic SOA and BPM by Marc Fiammante Pdf

Achieve Breakthrough Business Flexibility and Agility by Integrating SOA and BPM Thousands of enterprises have adopted Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) based on its promise to help them respond more rapidly to changing business requirements by composing new solutions from existing business services. To deliver on this promise, however, companies need to integrate solid but flexible Business Process Management (BPM) plans into their SOA initiatives. Dynamic SOA and BPM offers a pragmatic, efficient approach for doing so. Top IBM® SOA architect Marc Fiammante takes you step-by-step through combining BPM and SOA, and using them together to build a more flexible, dynamic enterprise. Throughout the book, he emphasizes hands-on solutions based on his experience supporting dozens of enterprise SOA implementations. Practical from start to finish, Dynamic SOA and BPM squarely addresses two of the most critical challenges today’s IT executives, architects, and analysts face: implementing BPM as effectively as possible and deriving more value from their SOA investments. Coverage Includes Moving from simplified integration to dynamic processes: realizing the full business value of services Streamlining enterprise architecture to accelerate business and IT alignment Implementing dynamic business processes based on small, flexible modules that can be quickly modeled, tested, delivered, and improved Planning for services and information variability to limit the impact of change on processes and other consumers of services Providing an integration layer between consumers and providers that addresses issues classical Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) approaches cannot solve alone Tooling and practices for the development, management, and monitoring of the complete SOA/BPM life cycle

Service Orchestration as Organization by Malinda Kapuruge,Jun Han,Alan Colman Pdf

Service orchestration techniques combine the benefits of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Business Process Management (BPM) to compose and coordinate distributed software services. On the other hand, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) is gaining popularity as a software delivery model through cloud platforms due to the many benefits to software vendors, as well as their customers. Multi-tenancy, which refers to the sharing of a single application instance across multiple customers or user groups (called tenants), is an essential characteristic of the SaaS model. Written in an easy to follow style with discussions supported by real-world examples, Service Orchestration as Organization introduces a novel approach with associated language, framework, and tool support to show how service orchestration techniques can be used to engineer and deploy SaaS applications. Describes the benefits as well as the challenges of building adaptive, multi-tenant software service applications using service-orchestration techniques Provides a thorough synopsis of the current state of the art, including the advantages and drawbacks of the adaptation techniques available Describes in detail how the underlying framework of the new approach has been implemented using available technologies, such as business rules engines and web services

Patterns of Information Management by Mandy Chessell,Harald Smith Pdf

Use Best Practice Patterns to Understand and Architect Manageable, Efficient Information Supply Chains That Help You Leverage All Your Data and Knowledge In the era of “Big Data,” information pervades every aspect of the organization. Therefore, architecting and managing it is a multi-disciplinary task. Now, two pioneering IBM® architects present proven architecture patterns that fully reflect this reality. Using their pattern language, you can accurately characterize the information issues associated with your own systems, and design solutions that succeed over both the short- and long-term. Building on the analogy of a supply chain, Mandy Chessell and Harald C. Smith explain how information can be transformed, enriched, reconciled, redistributed, and utilized in even the most complex environments. Through a realistic, end-to-end case study, they help you blend overlapping information management, SOA, and BPM technologies that are often viewed as competitive. Using this book’s patterns, you can integrate all levels of your architecture–from holistic, enterprise, system-level views down to low-level design elements. Service Orientation in Holonic and Multi Agent Manufacturing and Robotics by Theodor Borangiu,Andre Thomas,Damien Trentesaux Pdf

The book covers four research domains representing a trend for modern manufacturing control: Holonic and Multi-agent technologies for industrial systems; Intelligent Product and Product-driven Automation; Service Orientation of Enterprise’s strategic and technical processes; and Distributed Intelligent Automation Systems. These evolution lines have in common concepts related to service orientation derived from the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) paradigm. The service-oriented multi-agent systems approach discussed in the book is characterized by the use of a set of distributed autonomous and cooperative agents, embedded in smart components that use the SOA principles, being oriented by offer and request of services, in order to fulfil production systems and value chain goals. A new integrated vision combining emergent technologies is offered, to create control structures with distributed intelligence supporting the vertical and horizontal enterprise integration and running in truly distributed and global working environments. The service value creation model at enterprise level consists into using Service Component Architectures for business process applications, based on entities which handle services. In this componentization view, a service is a piece of software encapsulating the business/control logic or resource functionality of an entity that exhibits an individual competence and responds to a specific request to fulfil a local (product) or global (batch) objective. Strategic Planning Decisions in the High Tech Industry by Dilek Cetindamar,Tugrul Daim,Berna Beyhan,Nuri Basoglu Pdf

The scale and complexity of research and practices of open innovation mandate a correspondingly sophisticated form of decision making. Strategic Planning Decisions brings together a number of tools that ease the decision process in technology companies, providing both conceptual frameworks and practical applications. Innovative approaches are presented such as an ontology-based model where all the relevant aspects of a potential technology are interrelated to provide a comprehensive and logically connected data pool for decision makers. Divided into two sections, Strategic Planning Decisions describe both strategic approaches using the decision tools, and tactical approaches. Some of these tools are expanded while some others are embedded in a model that will lay the ground for practical application. These include: bibliometric analysis, ontology, roadmapping, lead user, six sigma, and multi-actor & multi-objective decision making methods Recent research and relevant theory are balanced with up–to–date practical applications and hands–on techniques making Strategic Planning Decisions ideal for engineers who wish to keep up–to–date with current ideas in the field of TM. It also provides workable methods for practising managers from all levels who wish to apply a more rigorous approach in their work and consultants concerned with technology assessment and its management.

Agent-Based Technologies and Applications for Enterprise Interoperability by Klaus Fischer,Jörg Müller,Renato Levy Pdf

The ATOP (Agent-Based Technologies and Applications for Enterprise Interoperability) workshop series focuses on technologies that support interoperability in networked organizations, on successful applications of these technologies, and on lessons learned. In particular, ATOP brings together research combining ideas from MDA and SOA with agent technologies. The ATOP 2009 and 2010 workshops were held at the AAMAS conferences in Budapest, Hungary, in May 2009, and in Toronto, Canada, in May 2010. The 11 papers presented here were carefully reviewed by three members of the international Program Committee and selected out of 25 contributions to the workshops. The topics covered are modeling interoperable systems; semantic approaches to enterprise interoperability; and interoperable business processes and business interactions. These papers are completed by an invited contribution reporting on OMG agent standardization. The main goal was to collect approaches for the application of agent technologies in these areas. Current trends in the development of agent technologies are compared with recent developments in service-oriented and model-driven system design, with respect to their ability to solve interoperability problems.
