DHM2020 by L. Hanson,D. Högberg,E. Brolin Pdf

Digital human modeling (DHM) is an active field of research directed towards the goal of creating detailed digital models of the human body and its functions, as well as assessment methods for evaluating human interaction with products and production systems. These have many applications in ergonomics, design and engineering, in fields as diverse as the automotive industry and medicine. This book presents the proceedings of the 6th International Digital Human Modeling Symposium (DHM2020), held in Skövde, Sweden from 31 August to 2 September 2020. The conference was also accessible online for those unable to attend in person because of restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The symposium provides an international forum for researchers, developers and users to report their latest innovations, summarize new developments and experiences within the field, and exchange ideas, results and visions in all areas of DHM research and applications. The book contains the 43 papers accepted for presentation at the conference, and is divided into 6 sections which broadly reflect the topics covered: anthropometry; behavior and biomechanical modeling; human motion data collection and modeling; human-product interaction modeling; industry and user perspectives; and production planning and ergonomics evaluation. Providing a state-of-the-art overview of research and developments in digital human modeling, the book will be of interest to all those who are active in the field.

Low Resource Social Media Text Mining by Shriphani Palakodety,Ashiqur R. KhudaBukhsh,Guha Jayachandran Pdf

This book focuses on methods that are unsupervised or require minimal supervision—vital in the low-resource domain. Over the past few years, rapid growth in Internet access across the globe has resulted in an explosion in user-generated text content in social media platforms. This effect is significantly pronounced in linguistically diverse areas of the world like South Asia, where over 400 million people regularly access social media platforms. YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter report a monthly active user base in excess of 200 million from this region. Natural language processing (NLP) research and publicly available resources such as models and corpora prioritize Web content authored primarily by a Western user base. Such content is authored in English by a user base fluent in the language and can be processed by a broad range of off-the-shelf NLP tools. In contrast, text from linguistically diverse regions features high levels of multilinguality, code-switching, and varied language skill levels. Resources like corpora and models are also scarce. Due to these factors, newer methods are needed to process such text. This book is designed for NLP practitioners well versed in recent advances in the field but unfamiliar with the landscape of low-resource multilingual NLP. The contents of this book introduce the various challenges associated with social media content, quantify these issues, and provide solutions and intuition. When possible, the methods discussed are evaluated on real-world social media data sets to emphasize their robustness to the noisy nature of the social media environment. On completion of the book, the reader will be well-versed with the complexity of text-mining in multilingual, low-resource environments; will be aware of a broad set of off-the-shelf tools that can be applied to various problems; and will be able to conduct sophisticated analyses of such text.

Computational Models of Argument by F. Toni,S. Polberg,R. Booth Pdf

Argumentation has traditionally been studied across a number of fields, notably philosophy, cognitive science, linguistics and jurisprudence. The study of computational models of argumentation is a more recent endeavor, bringing together researchers from traditional fields and computer science and engineering within a rich, interdisciplinary matrix. Computational models of argumentation have been identified and used since the 1980s, and more recently an important role for argumentation in leading to principled decisions has emerged in several settings. This book presents the proceedings of COMMA 2022 the 9th International Conference on Computational Models of Argument, held in Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom, during 14 - 16 September 2022. The book contains 27 regular papers and 16 demo papers from a total of 75 submissions, as well as 3 invited talks from Prof Paul Dunne (University of Liverpool), Prof Iryna Gurevych (TU Darmstadt), and Prof Antonis Kakas (University of Cyprus), which reflect the diverse nature of the field. Papers are a mix of theoretical and practical contributions; theoretical contributions include new formal models, the study of formal or computational properties of models, design for implemented systems and experimental research; practical papers include applications to law, machine learning and explainability. Abstract and structured accounts of argumentation are covered, as are relations between different accounts. Many papers focus on the evaluation of arguments or their conclusions given a body of arguments, with a continuation of a recent trend to study gradual or probabilistic notions of evaluation. The book offers an overview of recent and current research and will be of interest to all those working with computational models of argumentation.

Generative Adversarial Learning: Architectures and Applications by Roozbeh Razavi-Far,Ariel Ruiz-Garcia,Vasile Palade,Juergen Schmidhuber Pdf

This book provides a collection of recent research works addressing theoretical issues on improving the learning process and the generalization of GANs as well as state-of-the-art applications of GANs to various domains of real life. Adversarial learning fascinates the attention of machine learning communities across the world in recent years. Generative adversarial networks (GANs), as the main method of adversarial learning, achieve great success and popularity by exploiting a minimax learning concept, in which two networks compete with each other during the learning process. Their key capability is to generate new data and replicate available data distributions, which are needed in many practical applications, particularly in computer vision and signal processing. The book is intended for academics, practitioners, and research students in artificial intelligence looking to stay up to date with the latest advancements on GANs’ theoretical developments and their applications.
